VOICE OVER: Emily Brayton WRITTEN BY: Savannah Sher
This year, the competition was seriously fierce. Join us as we count down our picks for the Top 10 Best Dressed Celebs of 2018! For this list, we're looking at stars who really stood out this year with their red carpet and personal style. We've included celebs like Lakeith Stanfield, Rihanna, Nicole Kidman and more!

#10: Lakeith Stanfield

In years past, we may have written this list speaking only of women, but in 2018 the guys really stepped up their game. Men’s fashion no longer entails simply boring blacks suits, and male celebs have been getting more and more creative with their looks. Known for roles in “Get Out” and “Atlanta”, Lakeith Stanfield is one of the actors who is inspiring fans with his fashion sense, whether he’s dressing up or down. His red carpet style is polished yet quirky and his street style is enviably cool.

#9: Rihanna

For years, this performer would have made it on to just about any “best dressed” list, but Rihanna’s profile has risen even more in 2018 with her role in “Ocean’s 8” and the huge success of her cosmetics line, Fenty Beauty. At just about any appearance she makes, she stands out from the crowd in her signature look, which is at once sexy and edgy. She probably would have made the cut regardless, but the thing that really put RiRi over the top this year was the over the top look she chose for the Met Gala, which simply couldn’t be beat.

#8: Nicole Kidman

This star has been on the A list for decades (and has been appearing on award show best dressed lists for just as long), but it seems like recently Nicole Kidman has had a fashion renaissance of sorts. She always looks chic and pulled together, showing that style definitely has no age limit. If we were to pick one standout look for the year (though we hate to pick favorites), we’d have to vote for the blue Oscars dress she wore with the prominent bow at the front.

#7: Meghan Markle

Top 10 Reasons Meghan Markle Is a Badass

If there is one woman that the world has been paying attention to in 2018, it has to be Meghan Markle. In the spring, she married Prince Harry in a gown designed by Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy, becoming a part of the royal family and cementing herself a spot on the list of fashionable women to watch. Since she announced her pregnancy later in the year, she has appeared in a number of great outfits that subtly highlight her ever-growing bump. We can’t wait to see what she’ll wear next.

#6: Priyanka Chopra

This actress may have been well known before, but after her engagement to Nick Jonas was announced in 2018, her star has certainly risen. Priyanka Chopra’s influence can’t be denied, as one of India’s biggest stars who has seamlessly made the transition to Hollywood. This year, her style has been especially on point, managing to blend high fashion with elements that always seem to nod to her heritage. Let’s just say we’re really hoping these two don’t have one of those covert celebrity weddings where we never get to see the dress!

#5: Lupita Nyong'o

In the United States and Canada, “Black Panther” was the highest grossing film of the year, so it’s no surprise that all eyes were on one of its stars, Lupita Nyong'o. Whether she was on the press circuit promoting the film or attending award shows celebrating it, Nyong'o always brought out her particular brand of sartorial style. Her outfits often seemed as though they wouldn’t have been out of place in Wakanda itself, although she also occasionally opted for some softer looks when the occasion called for it.

#4: Donald Glover

We don’t think anyone would disagree with us if we proclaimed Donald Glover the best dressed man of 2018. How could they? He has almost single-handedly changed what’s expected of men on the red carpet, channeling a vintage vibe that goes unmatched among his peers. Glover is undeniably at the top of his game in 2018, releasing one of the most influential songs of the year, “This Is America”, and continuing his work on his groundbreaking show, “Atlanta”. And through it all, he always looks impeccable, giving dudes something to strive for with their style.

#3: Amal Clooney

At this point, you’d be remiss to refer to Amal Clooney simply as “George Clooney’s Wife”. Born Amal Alamuddin, this human rights lawyer is a powerhouse in her own right, and she sure has the wardrobe to prove it. She dresses like a woman who takes herself seriously, but who doesn’t shy away from sporting high fashion pieces every now and then. The designer of her Met Gala ensemble said of her choice, "Her decision to wear trousers to the Met Gala was her way of depicting female empowerment”. We’re sufficiently inspired!

#2: Tracee Ellis Ross

If we’re looking at the biggest fashion risk takers of 2018, we’d have to mention this actress. Who else would wear an over the top puffy pink gown like that to the Emmys? She rose to fame with her role on “Black-ish,” but Tracee Ellis Ross has become a bona fide personality. When asked what her favorite look of the year was, she mentioned her Golden Globes outfit, which features a Marc Jacobs gown and turban saying, "it felt like an expression of my history and my power." Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. Zoë Kravitz Gigi & Bella Hadid Mandy Moore Jeff Goldblum

#1: Lady Gaga

Top 20 Memorable Lady Gaga Outfits

A few years ago, you may not have been able to imagine this performer as one of the most stylish in the business, but here we are. There were no covered faces or meat dresses on display this year. Nope, Lady Gaga is embracing her role as a movie star, and is channeling the old Hollywood look paired with her typical extravagant aesthetic. While doing press for her hugely successful film, “A Star Is Born”, Gaga displayed a wide range of outfits, but the real standout was the frothy, feathery pink number she wore at the Venice Film Festival that will have people talking long after 2018 comes to a close.
