Top 10 Must Wear 2016 Halloween Costumes

Couples who play together, stay together – at least until the candy’s gone. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the top 10 Halloween Costumes for Couples.

For this list, we’re singling out iconic, ironic or all-out fun costume pairings that you and your significant other can don this Halloween.

#10: Oreo & Milk

Sexier than bacon and eggs, classier than peanut butter and jelly, an Oreo and Milk is the perfect way to let the rest of the party know that you and your partner complete each other. And that you like cookies. A rip off of the Hydrox cookie, Greek for “well done” and a fan favorite since 1912, an Oreo is sure to light up any soiree, and everyone knows the party doesn’t start until someone breaks out the milk. Either option is perfect for any size or shape; plus, think of all the fun you can have making the costumes! Fashion your self some cardboard circles or go crazy and use some well washed trash can lids, and you’ve got yourself an Oreo. Get crafty with a refrigerator box and you have yourself a carton of milk. Fun times!

#9: Mickey & Minnie

Nothing says “cute” quite like the original cartoon power couple. Going strong since 1928, Mickey and Minnie are a sure fire way to let your fellow partygoers and rival trick or treaters know which couple is the sweetest pair of candy corns. The best part about Mickey and Minnie? The flexibility when it comes to wardrobe options. You could go traditional with red overalls for Mickey with a pink dress and bow for Minnie, or go all out with a tux paired with a polka dot dress, or any other his and her combo

#8: Loofah & Soap

A loofah and soap pairing is just good clean Halloween fun. Sure, a soap costume is likely to be a bit bland, what with it being box-based and all, but fun can still be had by painstakingly replicating the packaging of your favorite brand of soap – be it plain Jane Ivory, vanilla Dove, or the ever exotic Irish Spring. You could even up the kitsch appeal by adding a rope. It’ll be pretty hard to top the snaz factor of your lathery companion, but showing a little shoulder and or leg might just give a lacy loofah a bit of sizzle. All in all, this couples costume tells the room that apart, you’re mildly useful, but together you’re all that you need.

#7: Pokémon & Pokémon Trainer

So much variety! One could be Ash, May, or a gender-swapped version of either but the real fun comes with which Pokémon you care to choose. Charming Charmander? Budding Bulbasaur? Weedle, Zubat, Wigglytuff, Jigglypuff, or Psyduck? It’s up to you, Tentacool! Shellder, Seadra, whatever matches your shoes! Squirtle, Magikarp? Why not? Of course, the safe bet – or at least the one least likely to raise the question “so what are you supposed to be, anyway” – would have to be Pikachu. A simple makeup job, rabbit ears, a yellow shirt and a tacked on lightening bolt and you’re aces, or grab a Pikachu hat, hoodie, or onesie and you’re Halloween ready.

#6: Ken & Barbie

The quintessential pair of good-looking go-getters, Barbie and Ken have been every girl’s favorite on again off again couple since 1961 when Ken arrived on the scene. As costumes, Barbie and Ken couldn’t be simpler: just wear any complimentary outfits that seem to be trying just a little too hard or fully commit to any jet-setting, intellectual, or totes-rad occupation you can think of. Blonde hair or at least blonde wigs couldn’t hurt, a well-constructed box could add a collector’s flare, but being ridiculously fit might just come across as bragging. A pink Corvette would certainly win bonus points, and, as Barbie’s had over 40 pets, there’s room to include Fido or Mr Boots for extra pizazz. Just try to forget post-party that the real Barbie and Ken were actually the children of the doll’s creator...

#5: Fred & Wilma Flintstone

From the town of Bedrock and a page right out of history; they’re the modern, stone age, go-to get-up for two! Fred Flintstone is the perfect costume for the hefty but confident gent, while Wilma is perfect for sassy redheads or those who can only dream of being a sassy redhead. If Fred and Wilma aren’t an exact fit, there’s always Bedrock’s other notable couple, the Rubbles. Or you could always trick-or-treat it up as Fred and Betty, Barney and Wilma, Fred and Barney, or Wilma and Betty – whatever roles best suit your particular coupling.

#4: Han Solo & Princess Leia
Her: a humble, blaster-toting princess and a leader of the rebel alliance. Him: a stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerfherder. She loves him; he knows - it’s a love for the ages! A universally cool pairing with virtually no-gender bias, Han and Leia are also fairly simple costume choices. For Han, just wear a long sleeved white shirt, a black vest, tall boots, and an attitude that says you’d rather be anywhere else and you’re already 12 parsecs ahead of the game. Meanwhile, Leia provides plenty of wardrobe options - from the cinnamon bun and toga-gown combo, the braided crown and winter wear look, or for the very daring, the ever popular gold bikini slave girl ensemble. Together they’re a pairing so fun you won’t even care that you didn’t get to go to Toshi Station to pick up some power converters.

#3: The Joker & Harley Quinn

It’s been said that there’s a great woman behind every idiot, and as Harley Quinn you can be that woman! As she’s maniacal, flirty, and downright sexy, taking on the role of Harley is not for the timid, but if you’re up to the challenge you’ll be the belle of the ball. It’s an absolutely feminine costume, while the Joker is an utterly bizarre yet ultra-masculine character – silly enough to be fun but not so silly a guy wouldn’t jump at the chance to wear it. If outright insanity’s not your thing, why not strike terror into the hearts of your fellow candy snatchers and double up as Batman and Catwoman? With costume options ranging from Adam West to Ben Affleck, and Julie Newmar to Anne Hathaway, you’ll be spoiled for choice.

#2: Khal Drogo & Daenerys

You don’t need an army of 10,000 to pull off these costumes and you don’t need to eat the heart of a stallion either! Sure, their couple-dom didn’t last that long, and the less said about its beginnings the better, but no one can deny that Drogo and Daenerys were a striking pair while they lasted. Drogo: a skilled warrior and leader. Dany: a complex, silver-haired mother of dragons born amid a storm. Together, they can overthrow all the best houses in the seven kingdoms, settling for nothing less than full-sized chocolate bars and big bags of chips.

Before we unveil our top pick here are a few honorable mentions:
- Mario & Princess Peach
- Wayne & Garth
- Richie & Margot Tenenbaum

#1: Danny Zuko & Sandy Olsson

Looking for a couples costume that tells everyone you and your partner are hopelessly devoted? That screams ‘we go together’? Tell me more, tell me more, you say? If you’re looking to have you a blast, then “Grease”’s Sandy and Danny are the ones that you want. Both outfits are quicker to assemble than greased lightning: all your Danny needs are some black jeans, a black or white t, an Elvis wig and an optional black leather jacket. Sandy, of course, has options: a conservative blouse, skirt, and matching cardigan says ‘look at me, I’m Sandra Dee,’ but if you really want to make an impression it’s got to be high-waisted leather pants and a black crop top – it’s... electrifying.
