Top 20 Anime Characters Reborn as Powerful Being Out with the old, in with the godly. Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 20 Anime Characters Reborn as Powerful Beings. For this list, we’re going to be looking at the characters in anime who found themselves transported to another plane of existence and were granted fantastical abilities far beyond everyone else. So yeah, it’s an isekai buffet.

#20: Shingo Ichinomiya

“The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me?” (2020) Look, the guy was reincarnated into the body of a young noble called Wendelin von Benno Baumeister, that alone should tell you how OP he’s going to become. Sure enough, along with a talent for social-economics, Shingo’s second shot at life catapulted him all the way to magical stardom, possessing an innate talent for spells that surpassed all those around him, to the level where he was able to slay dragons like it was going out of fashion. Que the status update and imminent harem.

#19: Taichi Nishimura

“Isekai Cheat Magician” (2019) We are once again joined by a prominent member of the Milquetoast Collective; an average student who along with his equally forgettable partner in crime is suddenly transported to a fantasy world, where upon arrival he finds himself imbued with tremendous power, though instead of bringing the pain by his lonesome like so many of his other bland brethren, Taichi is recognised as a summoner, allowing him to summon spirits of all four elements to aid him in battle. Why conjure up a hurricane when you can have a half-naked waifu do it for you?

#18: Adele von Ascham

“Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average in the Next Life?!” (2019) Who ordered their isekai with an extra slice of cuteness? Adele may have suffered some prominent tragedy in her life and also be unable to comprehend all things common sense, but that doesn’t make her any less of a monster when it comes to messing shit up in her respective world, though what do you expect when God decides to make you half as strong as the most powerful being on the planet? Throw in the constant swirl of self-strengthening magic lurking inside her, and it doesn’t take much for this little cotton ball to wreck everything in sight.

#17: Hakuto Kunai

“Demon Lord, Retry!” (2019) If you’re going to get dragged into a brand-new world, you might as well do it while inhabiting the body of a final boss. While he has the appearance of a chain-smoking gangster with anime’s largest mullet, the new demon lord on the block is actually a walking tank. While he doesn’t have the largest skill pool out of the next generation of isekaiers, Maou-sama over here has so much health to his name that only the toughest of fantasy SOBs can hope to damage him, and in that time he’ll have just ripped through their hides and picked up a new lady to subjugate.

#16: Kon Hokaze

Top 10 Anime Characters Reborn As Powerful Beings

“Ixion Saga DT” (2012-13) The boy had the forethought to win a duel by smashing a steel-toed boot right into his opponent’s testicles; he’s already well on his way to becoming god-tier. Aside from having incredible luck in and out of the battlefield, Kon’s MMORPG adventure was made all the simpler by his new sword having the handy ability to transform into a giant hammer complete with jet boosters. Throw in his love of cheap tricks with a natural ability to control Alma energy, and Kon had it made from the get-go.

#15: Saito Hiraga

“The Familiar of Zero” (2006-12) He may have been regarded as nothing more than a plebeian when he was summoned and paired off to the highly strung yet magically inept Louise, yet the truth of the matter is that Saito is actually the legendary Gandalfr; a chosen one able to master whatever he gets his hands on. Whether it be swords, fighter jets or the loins of every female in the series, there really is nothing that this NEET cannot tame and control to his will, to the point where he can take on an army single-handedly!

#14: Kirito

“Sword Art Online: Alicization” (2018-) The OG of the OP scene with enough to satisfy waifus A through E, Kirito by this point is fluctuating in and out of a broken mode of his own making. While in the video game world he was nothing short of a god, when being reborn in the world of Alicization, he had to start from zero again...only to break the whole system open again with his array of incredible sword skills. Human, underworld beast, or omnipotent administrator, very little stand a chance when up against this fella.

#13: Mamako Oosuki

“Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks?” (2019) Mama knows best, and if she happens to get dragged into a pre-alpha video game landscape and snag two of the most powerful weapons on her first try, then you’re just going to have to deal with it. Without really meaning too, Mamako proved time and time again to be the strongest (and most ravishing) thing in an apron. With a casual swing of her elemental swords, she can wipe out everything the game sent her way. By dishing out discipline, she can unleash a death beam from one finger. Get her angry and…we don’t know yet, but it’s probably world ending.

#12: Seiya Ryuuguuin

“Cautious Hero: The Hero Is Overpowered but Overly Cautious” (2019) He won’t go on a quest until he’s worked his quads and maximised his stats, but when he finally does get around to it, you’d best stay clear. Haunted by his past failings as an isekai hero, Seiya’s approach this time around is a tad more prudent in nature, never once showing restraint to even the weakest of enemies. Even if he’s already crushed his foe down to ashes, that’s not still not good enough for him, to the point he’ll summon an entire meteor swarm just to be safe.

#11: Hajime Nagumo

“Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest” (2019) If you’re going to go full anime edgelord, then you might as well have an arsenal to match. After being left for dead at the lowest point of a monster filled abyss, the once timid Hajime went full on savage. Feasting on those that would hunt him and perfecting a talent for magical craftsmanship, he emerged with mechanical appendages, a terribly cranky attitude, a new vampire loli wife, as well as no shortage of magic-based pistols and armaments he’s only continued to build upon. Whether he's pulling the trigger or ramming a giant poles where they don’t belong, Hajime knows how to next-level dominate.

#10: Ichirou Suzuki

“Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody” (2018) You know how it is, one day you’re a programming a new MMORPG, then next you wake up as a teenager in a strange new land and accidentally kill a god. As a result, Suzuki’s stats are immediately maxed out, allowing for his new life as an adventurer with a bustling harem to begin! With every skill and ability already at level ten, there’s little Satou Pendragon can’t handle. It’s kind of ridiculous how much he’s got under his belt – maximum combat skill, mastery over all weapons, maximum supportive magic, maximum offensive magic, ultimate resistance, maximum crafting, maximum academic skills, the list goes on!

#9: Shiroe

“Log Horizon” (2013-15) Always pays to have an enchanter in your party, and if he happens to be a gaming veteran with a shit tone of spells under his command, all the better. After finding themselves trapped in a fantasy world bearing a striking resemblance to the game Elder Tale, Shiroe and his companions become immediately embroiled in – what else – various skirmishes against monsters and corrupt magic users. Thankfully, when it comes to player coordination and tactical ingenuity, no one bests Black Heart Glasses. His penchant for enchantments and strategy have turned the tide of battle countless times, so best to stay on his good side.

#8: Ernesti "Eru" Echavalier

“Knight’s & Magic” (2017) It’s every mecha fan’s dream to one day be able to design and pilot their own giant mecha, even if they have to die and be reborn as an androgynous young noble in order to do so. Or maybe that’s just Eru. Brought into a medieval land that just so happens to have magical robots, Eru’s previous life as a programmer somehow manages to coincide with this new world’s take on magic, leading him to assemble his own death machine that manages to trounce the rest. Remember, chicks dig giant robots…and apparently pilots who look like silver haired maidens.

#7: Touya Mochizuki

“In Another World with My Smartphone” (2017) Just goes to show that all you need to do to get ahead in life is a touch-screen cell phone and a favour from God. After Touya ends up with both, he’s whisked away to a fantasy world where he manages to make short work of the looming evil force as well as the collective v-card of eight waifus. Aside from having access to the internet in a place where the internet doesn’t exist, Touya was also lucky enough to get the elemental bonus package from his heavenly apologist, allowing him to go full Avatar and blast away any competition that came between him and his Lolita lovers.

#6: Tanya von Degurechaff

“The Saga of Tanya the Evil” (2017) Being ripped from normal life as a middle-aged salary man and reincarnated into the body of a young German girl embroiled in a magical war isn’t exactly everyone’s cup of teas. Consumed by rage over her new circumstances, Tanya goes from crunching numbers to crunching heads as a manipulative, vicious soldier of the sky, deadest on winning the war and shooting down Being X while she’s at it. She may be pint-sized, but that murder face and itchy trigger finger is no joke. To be honest, we’re not sure why the Empire doesn’t send her to finish all their fights; she’s a force of nature.

#5: Naofumi Iwatani

“The Rising of the Shield Hero” (2019) Unlike everyone else on this list, Shield Bro over here wasn’t pulled into a fantasy world and placed on a pedestal. He was disgraced, backstabbed, and portrayed as the lowest of the low purely for the vile desires of a corrupt kingdom. And what does he do? He grinds the hell out of his stats, finds allies that see through all the lies, and somehow “rises” up to become the worthiest hero of them all. Naofumi is such a beast that he’s able to brush off attacks from Princess THOT, evil Catholics and even Chad Spearman and still keep on fighting. What a legend.

#4: Shin Wolford

“Wise Man’s Grandchild” (2019) Reborn as a babe and adopted by the strongest magician in the land, Shin’s second start at life turned out to be pretty sweet. Sure, he’s got no common sense to speak of, but when you’ve got all the magic in the world at your fingertips and can slice apart demons with little effort, it doesn’t really matter, does it? Needless to say, Shin went from an company worker to the big man on mage campus. No wonder he managed to get himself a circle of friends and love interest within the space of a single episode. Dude’s got it made!

#3: Diablo

“How Not to Summon a Demon Lord” (2018) Lonesome gamer, crazy strong avatar. You know where this going. Trapped inside a world filled with busty elves, sexy slaves and monsters aplenty, an anxiety-ridden player finds himself awakening inside the body of his own devilishly powerful character, one who can wipe out crazy paladins and demon-spawn like it’s going out of style thanks to the innumerable amount of spells under his command. While he’s a nice guy deep down, his mastery of the dark arts speak for themselves. Maybe he should try getting more into character and make a move on Rem and Shera already!

#2: Rimuru Tempest

“That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime” (2018-) Turns out the deadliest creature of them all isn’t orcs, direwolves or even dragons, but rather a blue ball of sentient slime. While his new life as a blob might make him easy pickings for the multitude of magic users and monsters, Rimuru soon found himself climbing to power thanks to his newfound ability of Predator, allowing him to devour literally anything and add their power to his own. As a result, he soon becomes the leader of his own nation with a legion of followers, along with enough strength to put a Demon Lord in their place. If you knew what was lurking in the endless abyss he calls his stomach, you’d shudder.

#1: Ainz Ooal Gown

“Overlord” (2015-18) You have to hand it to this guy, he took on the role of a villain and never looked back. Most gamers can only dream of turning to the dark side in such a glorious fashion. Thanks to the unmatched power of his undead avatar, the Lord of Nazarick decides to forsake the role of a hero and instead decides to focus his time and energy on something more practical – like taking over the world. With an army of top tier guardians by his side and no empathy for the lives he destroys, there’s just no end to the amount of unholy miracles this guy can pull off!
