Top 10 Most Powerful MCU Heroes

Top 10 Most Powerful MCU Heroes
VOICE OVER: Callum Janes WRITTEN BY: Jonathan Alexander
You'd be crazy to try and fight one of these MCU heroes. For this list, we'll be looking at the absolute strongest Earth's Mightiest has to offer. Our countdown includes Scarlet Witch, Thor, Spider-Man, and more!

#10: Ant-Man a.k.a. Scott Lang

Top 10 Most POWERFUL Ant-Man Variants

In a universe of genetically enhanced warriors, mystical arts, and literal gods, a suit that allows you to shrink doesn’t seem all that impressive. But in the case of this bite-sized hero, being small doesn’t cost him any strength, and mixed with Scott’s ingenuity, he proves that size isn’t the only thing that matters. Of course, if anyone was still unconvinced, his transformation into Giant-Man would certainly do the trick. This form gave Thanos’ army and even the Avengers themselves a run for their money. Even more, he also gets frequent assistance from the more than capable Wasp - and if she’d gone Giant yet, she might even be stronger than Scott. Now that’s a power couple.

#9: Spider-Man a.k.a. Peter Parker

Top 10 Most Powerful Versions of Spider-Man

With great power, comes great feats of strength. He may be one of the youngest Avengers, but you wouldn’t be able to tell from his track record. In his first ever mission with the team, he managed to subdue Falcon, Winter Soldier, and a giant-form Ant-Man, all without losing any of that classic Peter Parker charm. What he lacks in experience, he makes up with sheer heart and perseverance - if there’s one thing his bouts against Vulture and Mysterio have proven, it’s that this kid doesn’t quit. Spidey-senses aside, Peter’s true superpower is his earnest optimism and unshakeable resolve, even when his day at work involves thwarting galaxy-wide threats.

#8: Black Panther a.k.a. T’Challa

Also in:

Top 10 Characters Who Have ALSO Become Black Panther

Few characters exude such natural leadership capabilities as the Wakandan King himself. Whether it’s an attempted insurrection or a galactic tyrant’s invasion, T’Challa is always leading the charge to defend his people, and for good reason. Thanks to some excellent hand-to-hand combat skills and a suit that absorbs and redistributes kinetic energy, he’s proven himself to be a match for Winter Soldier, Killmonger, and even Captain America himself. Perhaps most impressive, though, is how effortlessly he mobilizes the entirety of Wakanda behind him. He may not technically have any superpowers, but his ability to benevolently lead his people against any threat is more remarkable than any flashy display of heroics.

#7: Valkyrie

There must be something in the water in Asgard - from Lady Sif to Heimdall, you don’t even have to be an Odinson to wield overwhelming abilities there. However, few stand out as much as the last surviving warrior from the legendary Valkyrie. It takes a lot to earn the respect of our favorite Green giant, but by the time she’s squaring off against Hela, it’s clear why she’s one of the few to do it. Even against beings far stronger than her, the no-nonsense Asgardian warrior is dangerously effective in combat. Case in point: she rides a freaking Pegasus into battle and single handedly takes down one of Thanos’ massive flying monsters. Yeah, we’re with Hulk on this one - she’s the real deal.

#6: Hulk a.k.a. Bruce Banner

It’s hard to believe even literal Gods shudder at the thought of jumping into the ring with this Green Giant, but we can’t blame them, either. Once Hulk gets going, there’s next to nothing that can stop him from doing what he does best - smash. With a resume boasting victories over the likes of Loki, Thor, and Iron Man, it’s hard to argue you aren’t one of the toughest around. He may not be able to control his impulses, but that sure hasn’t stopped him from amassing a killer reputation as someone you don’t want to mess with. When Tony Stark has to develop a whole new suit just to compete with you, you know you’re doing something right.

#5: White Vision

As a creation of Ultron and the Mind Stone, with some meddling from Bruce Banner and Tony Stark for good measure, it’s no wonder Vision is one of the strongest beings to ever step foot on Earth. While that version of the artificial hero is gone, S.W.O.R.D.'s clone of him maintains all the original’s powers and abilities with the benefit of, you know, still being alive to use them. In the brief fight between the Vision’s, it’s clear this manufactured lookalike is just as powerful - and given that the original was capable of matching Ultron and lifting Thor’s hammer, that speaks volumes. It may not be what Wanda envisioned, but we get the feeling White Vision might be sticking around.

#4: Doctor Strange a.k.a. Stephen Strange

Also in:

Top 10 Most Powerful Doctor Strange Moments

Not many heroes are as used to humanity-ending calamities as this wise sorcerer. He may not always get the glory, but whether he’s protecting the mystical world from Kaecilius, or proving instrumental in toppling Thanos, Strange has more than earned his spot on the Varsity roster of Earth’s heros. His powerset is as cool as it is impressive, boasting some of the flashiest, and most powerful, spells we’ve ever seen in the MCU. Combined with Strange’s innate brilliance and strategic mind, there are few who can rival his sheer prowess in battle. He may have started out as a doctor, but it’s safe to say he’s saved more lives as the Master of Mystical Arts.

#3: Thor

Top 10 Most Rewatchable Moments in Thor: Love and Thunder

The Norse Avenger has always been one of the most formidable heros around, but his recent buffs have propelled him into another league entirely. Not only is he a literal god wielding the legendary Mjolnir, but thanks to a helpful nudge from his sister, Hela, he’s gained mastery over his lightning abilities. Where it took coordinated squads of heroes to even slow Thanos down in “Infinity War,” Thor was capable of nearly killing the Titan in a head-on fight. With overwhelming elemental abilities, and a near-singlehanded victory against the toughest villain the MCU has ever seen, Thor is by far one of not just Earth’s, but the whole universe's mightiest.

#2: Captain Marvel a.k.a. Carol Danvers

Also in:

Top 10 Ways Captain Marvel Could Change the MCU

Where most Avengers have their teammates waiting in the wings, this air-force pilot-turned-galactic-hero managed to keep the galaxy safe all on her own. After the snap, when the Avengers were scattered across Earth, it fell to her alone to keep the rest of the universe safe, and yet she’s proven herself more than up to the task. From the moment she gets her powers, her staggering display of strength against Ronan’s Fleet is enough to make even Hulk jealous. When she does face off against Thanos, it’s clear that had she been in “Infinity War,” the snap may not have happened at all. Someone should tell the Guardians of the Galaxy that as long as Carol’s around, they can take the day off. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. Shang-Chi His Exploits in His Solo Film More Than Prove His Worth as a Skilled Fighter. War Machine a.k.a James Rhodes With a Suit Just as Powerful as Iron Man’s, He’s Equally as Strong. Winter Soldier a.k.a. Bucky Barnes He Received the Same Dose as Captain America, but Spent 70 Years Training Instead of on Ice. Wong Trained in the Same Skills as Doctor Strange, This Monk Is Almost a Match for Him. Gamora She Isn’t Widely Known as the Greatest Assassin in the Galaxy for Nothing.

#1: Scarlet Witch a.k.a. Wanda Maximoff

Also in:

Top 10 Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch MCU Moments

No character, hero or villain, has as much untapped potential, or stellar a track-record, as the hex-witch herself. Her feats are unbelievable - she destroyed the Mind Stone with one hand while holding back an infinity-powered Thanos with the other, created a hex that mind-controlled an entire town without even meaning to, and nearly finished “Endgame” early by forcing the overpowered warlord into a corner. Mind you, as Agatha reminds her, this is all without a single day of real training. Now that she’s fully awakened to the true power of the Scarlet Witch, there may not be anyone in the entire MCU who can compete with her anymore. For everyone’s sake, let’s hope she doesn’t lose another loved-one any time soon.
