The “Jurassic Park” franchise has given us a bevy of iconic scenes and moments, and these are some of the best. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Jurassic Park Franchise Moments. For this list, we are looking at the best moments from the first four films in the franchise

#10: First Seeing the Dinosaurs “Jurassic Park” (1993)

In this iconic scene, every audience member is Dr. Allan Grant as he looks in sheer amazement at the giant dinosaurs just several feet away from him. Joined by Ellie Sattler and our other characters, this is the first time we see the dinosaurs in all their splendor, and boy do they look incredible, especially considering the film came out in the early 90s. Add in John Williams’ incredible score and this is truly the moment that initiated the epic franchise. The fact that something as small as the Brachiosaurs moving in herds is enough to blow Grant’s mind beautifully underscores how impressive this scene is.

#9: “Clever Girl” “Jurassic Park” (1993)

As cool as the previous moment on this list was, the opening scene of the film reminds us that these dinos are deadly. While we almost went with the “Shoot her!” scene, we decided to go with another death - Muldoon. As Jurassic Park’s game warden and raptor expert, Muldoon frequently warns the other characters about the dangerous raptors, but eventually finds himself hunted by one of them. We see just how clever the raptors are as they work together to sneak up on the deadly hunter and maul him, but not before he acknowledges, almost respectfully, the raptors’ skill.

#8: The Long Grass “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” (1997)

The Jurassic Park and World Timeline Explained

From one scene involving raptors to another, this is without doubt one of the most memorable moments from the second film in the franchise. As our characters enter a field of long grass, we know something bad is about to happen. Naturally, a pack of raptors are already there waiting for them. They quickly begin picking off people, all while remaining stealthily hidden in the grass. The first film hinted and briefly showed us what great hunters these dinosaurs were, but this scene gives us a closer, and more terrifying, look.

#7: T-Rex vs. Indominus Rex “Jurassic World” (2015)

Who doesn’t love a good ole fashioned dinosaur fight? With the Indominus Rex wreaking havoc on Jurassic World, there is only one creature that can stop it - the Tyrannosaurus Rex. To make this scene even cooler, a raptor teams up with the T-Rex to help take on the Indominus. An epic fight scene occurs, with both sides inflicting heavy damage on the other. Eventually, the T-Rex and raptor force the Indominus towards the water, where the Mosasaurus leaps out and snags it, pulling it underwater for what will no doubt be a tasty midnight snack.

#6: Spinosaurus Underwater “Jurassic Park III” (2001)

While most people are familiar with the T-Rex and Velociraptor, we are guessing many had never heard of the Spinosaurus until the third film in the franchise. The main antagonist of the movie, the Spinosaurus actually kills a T-Rex early in the film and spends the rest of the time hunting down Dr. Grant and the other characters. In this epic scene, the Spinosaurus attacks the boat, sending everyone into the water and nearly drowning them. Luckily, a well-aimed flare gun is enough to help our heroes live to see another day.

#5: T-Rex Chase “Jurassic Park” (1993)

Also in:

Top 10 Scientific Inaccuracies in Jurassic Park

This is easily one of the most memorable moments in the entire franchise. After the initial carnage from the first T-Rex attack, Dr. Sattler and Muldoon are able to find Dr. Malcolm in the wreckage and secure him in the back of the car. The T-Rex soon returns, however, and the trio are forced to flee with the T-Rex hot in pursuit. This scene gives us several iconic moments, including more water ripples, the T-Rex’s massive jaw in the mirror and some vintage Jeff Goldblum.

#4: Ellie Works the Switches “Jurassic Park” (1993)

A general rule of thumb for most films is that you don’t kill kids. “Jurassic Park” pushes that philosophy to the limit on a number of occasions, including here. As Dr. Grant and the two kids attempt to climb an electrical fence, Ellie works the switches to turn the power back on. The scene cuts back and forth between Ellie and the children, specifically Tim, who remains trapped on the fence. The tension in this scene is remarkable, with Tim nearly dying and Ellie’s moment of joy quickly interrupted by a raptor attack.

#3: “Mommy’s Very Angry” “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” (1997)

Stealing an injured infant T-Rex in an attempt to lure its parents into a trap isn’t the brightest idea. This plan puts our main characters in danger despite the fact that they were actually trying to heal the baby dino. The two parents soon show up and get their child back, but take out their anger on the RV, sending it over the edge of the cliff. While all of our characters survive the attack, things get a little dicey when Sarah finds herself stuck on breaking glass.

#2: Raptors in the Kitchen “Jurassic Park” (1993)

This scene feels like it belongs in a horror film, as brutal killers hunt two children in a tight, confined space. The sound made by the raptors is just one of the many terrifying things in this scene. What makes it even more remarkable is the sequences masterful blending of animatronic puppets with CGI. This level of realism makes this scene come to life and brings the horror the kids are facing right to the audience. This is, without doubt, Spielberg at his very best. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honourable mentions: Open Paddock 9 “Jurassic World” (2015) T-Rex Kills Raptors “Jurassic Park” (1993) Dennis’ Death “Jurassic Park” (1993)

#1: T-Rex First Appearance “Jurassic Park” (1993)

Also in:

Westworld vs Jurassic Park

This is the moment we were all waiting for when we first watched this film. The T-Rex finally makes its grand appearance, and begins wrecking the park vehicles and terrorizing the main characters. From the water ripples to the children nearly getting devoured to Dr. Grant bravely confronting the giant dinosaur, this scene has everything you could want and then some. We also get to see just how ruthless this dino is when it chows down on the lawyer for a quick snack. This is “Jurassic Park” to a tee.
