James Franco and Marvel's Stan Lee Accused of Sexual Misconduct – The CineFiles Ep. 54

Most people love to hate The Room. It’s bad. But that hasn’t stopped James Franco from directing and starring in The Disaster artist, a film based on Greg Sestero’s book of the same name about the production of Tommy Wiseau’s strange cult classic. The love/hate relationship also hasn’t stopped South by Southwest, who will be premiering a “work in progress” cut at the film festival which opens March 10 in Austin, Texas. For those who have yet to see The Room, the festival is also trying to screen the original as well. In addition to directing and starring, Franco will play Wiseau, with brother Dave Franco set to play Sestero. The cast also features big name stars like Seth Rogen, Zac Efron and Josh Hutcherson just to name a few.

Heath Ledger vs. Jack Nicholson as The Joker

After nearly a decade away from the silver screen, Jack Nicholson is set to make his return to Hollywood in the remake of this year’s Oscar Nominated foreign film, Toni Erdmann. According to Variety, Paramount Pictures obtained the film rights, with The Big Short director, Adam McKay producing alongside Will Ferrell. Nicholson will star as the titular Toni, who tries to reconnect with his daughter while creating an eccentric alter ego to pose as her CEO’s life coach. Kristen Wiig has also been cast in the film, and will play Erdmann’s daughter. With Nicholson’s last outing How Do You Know bombing critically, a long hiatus and a crack at remaking a critical darling may be just what he needs to go out on, or to solidify his legacy even further. Before we get to our final pick, be sure to check out these new releases. “John Wick: Chapter 2” (2017) “The Lego Batman Movie” (2017)

#1: Thanos Taking the Lead in Avengers: Infinity War

Gorr vs Thanos

Marvel Studios have been pumping out success after success, loading their films with A-list ensemble casts. But the one arguable chink in their armor just might be the villains, with some falling under scrutiny for being thin and forgettable. The MCU hopes to change this as Marvel Studios’ president, Kevin Feige told Collider that Thanos will be the leading character in Avengers: Infinity War. Thanos has only had small roles in both Avengers movies and Guardians of the Galaxy, so Infinity War may be taking a risk in putting a little-seen character at the center of its film. However, Josh Brolin is cast as Thanos, whose acting talent is not to be overlooked. Also, with names like Benicio Del Toro and Peter Dinklage linked to the project, Thanos will be in good company to help bang out another Marvel triumph.
