Marvel is currently on top of the movie thanks to the box office dominance of Avengers: Infinity War. But that hasn’t stopped the studio from quickly moving the MCU story along, as they dropped a new trailer for their next installment, Ant-Man and The Wasp. The movie – which takes place after the events of Captain America: Civil War and before Infinity War – is full of hilarious moments, like Ant-Man grabbing a flatbed truck and using it as a scooter to catch up to a couple of baddies, who seem to have stolen a shrunken down building that Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym has been conducting important research. What research? Quantum Realm research and Pym Particle research, with the latter seemingly being stolen by a villain named the Ghost. Pym then has Ant-Man team up with Evangeline Lilly’s The Wasp to fight the Ghost, and uncover secrets from their past. The movie is set for release July 6th.

While some filmmakers have recently had a bone to pick with Netflix’s role in the film industry, the iconic Martin Scorsese has picked a fight with a couple of different movie companies. Earlier this week, The GoodFellas director took a few swings at review aggregators Rotten Tomatoes and CinemaScore while accepting the Robert Osbore Award at the TCM Classic Film Festival, saying that they’re “devaluing cinema”. The filmmaker said “The horrible idea they reinforce is that every picture, every image is there to be instantly judged and dismissed without giving audiences time to see it.” Not only does Scorsese view these review aggregators as a tool that limits original and diverse opinions, but thinks that they also reduce cinema to content as opposed to works of art. Scorsese ended his acceptance speech by imploring fans to continue to visit theaters. Scorsese’s next film, The Irishman, is being produced by Netflix and will be released in 2019. It’s time for Star Wars to pass the torch. Or in this case, the lightsaber. Avengers: Infinity War made history on opening weekend by earning a staggering $305.9 million domestically, passing the former record holder, Star Wars: The Force Awakens which earned $247 million. Not only did it take over the number one spot from The Force Awakens, it also tied it to become the fastest movie to hit $300 million in North America. The giant box office numbers won’t stop there for Infinity War, as the film is set to easily hit $1 billion at the global box office. Box office experts expect the 19th installment of the MCU to achieve the milestone this Friday or Saturday, the 10th or 11th day of its theatrical run. If projections are correct, it would also break the record for the fastest movie to hit $1 billion dollars, ahead of yes, you guessed it, The Force Awakens, which took them 12 days.
