Crysis 3: Everything You Should Know

The hunted becomes the hunter in this ultimate do or die mission. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be exploring everything you should know about Crysis 3.

Developed by Crytek and by EA, this sequel takes place in the year 2047 in a post-apocalyptic New York City, 20 years after the alien invasion in Crysis 2.

As Crysis 3 picks up, you continue to play in the role of Alcatraz, the injured soldier who inherited the 2.0 version of the nanotech suit. A hyper advanced piece of technological body armor, the nanosuit has fused with Alcatraz’s body in a symbiotic relationship, transferring to him parts of the memories and consciousness of the suit’s previous owner, Prophet. The two men’s consciousnesses have become so intertwined that Alcatraz has begun to call himself Prophet as well.

As the story begins, Alcatraz, or rather, prophet Prophet, is tasked with returning to the ruins of New York City to infiltrate a massive bubble called The Liberty Dome. This is one of several large domes that were created by the military corporation C.E.L.L., the Crynet Enforcement and Local Logistics, for the purpose of containing the Alien invaders, known as the Ceph, that still inhabit the city.

Entering a sprawling urban jungle, Prophet is on a mission to neutralize the alien threat while shutting down C.E.L.L., who seek to use alien technology to achieve world domination.

Intended to be a hybrid of the first two games, Crysis 3 combines the non-linear, jungle style of the first game with the urban environments found in the second. As they progress through the overgrown ruins of the city, they will not they will encounter a wide variety of wild animals in addition to the various Cell and Ceph agents.

Weapons range from the relatively low-tech multi-function bow, which is equip-able with a variety of different arrows, to a 500 round per second Hurricane mini-gun. You will also get to play with alien weaponry this time as well, such as the Ceph mortar-launcher and brute flamethrower. Of course, there are also new Nanosuit powers and the freedom to customize weapons and upgrades, adapting them to your play style.

A game meant to give you a greater sense of control and choice while still delivering gripping narrative experience; it features multiple branching paths through the sand-boxed levels. This allows you to change your play style on the fly, going for pure stealth by cloaking and maintaining a low profile, or revving up the armor and going in hot. You can take to the land or water, enter buildings or go around them and features the inclusion of several side-missions.

Finally, Crysis 3’s campaign is highlighted by the return of fan favorite Psycho, the foul mouth Cockney Brit from the original game and star of the expansion. No longer wearing a Nanosuit, he has re-emerged as a shell-shocked member of the underground resistance network.

Aside from its stunning and adrenaline pumping single-player campaign, Crysis 3 features online multiplayer for up to 12 players on consoles and 16 players on the PC. It also offers 12 different maps, 8 different play modes and over 30 weapons to choose from.

Within these 8 gameplay modes, perhaps the most unique is Hunter. In it, two Nanosuit soldiers are permanently cloaked, sport the bow and must hunt down 14 C.E.L.L. troopers. Each time C.E.L.L. soldier is taken out, that player joins Hunters, until it’s the last man standing.

A stunning sandbox shooter powered by the third generation of the CryEngine, Crysis 3 will transport you to a visually unparalleled setting. It will also pit you against human and alien forces, while forcing you to adapt your strategy to its massive and breathtaking environments.

Crysis 3 is available in all its visual glory for the PC, and is also available for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Sorry Wii U owners, despite the HD, you’re getting left out of the party at the Nanodome.
