There’s more to this service than meets the eye! Welcome to WatchMojo, and today, we’re counting down our picks for the Top 10 Facts and Secrets About Xbox Game Pass! For this list, we’re going to be listing some of our favorite parts of the Xbox Game Pass!

#10: It Isn’t a Cloud Service

Let's first clear up one of the most annoying repeated misconceptions about the service; With everyone coming out with their own cloud streaming service, one cannot be blamed for lumping in Xbox Game Pass with the likes of PlayStation Now or Google Stadia. However, this simply is not the case; Xbox Game Pass is not a cloud nor streaming service. Instead, the program allows you to download games from a sizable catalog to your console, and you can play these titles so long as you’re subscribed. It's basically no different than straight-up buying the game from the Xbox Marketplace, and it's certainly more convenient than hoping your Internet won’t randomly disconnect and interrupt your game time.

#9: 100-Game Catalog

One aspect of the Game Pass that Xbox touts around a lot is just how many games are on the platform. They aren’t joking - there’s a lot! While it doesn’t boast the same numbers as PlayStation Now’s massive library, it makes up for it in terms of the quality of their service, and… you know… the fact that it’s not a streaming service. You can choose from roughly one hundred games to download to your Xbox One, ranging from big-budget AAA games to titles from smaller studios. So if you missed a big release, chances are you may be able to find it on Xbox Game Pass!

#8: No Xbox Gold Required

Given how every major gaming company is coming out with their own subscription service, one can’t be blamed for not signing up for yet another online service. However, the point of Xbox Game Pass is to keep you playing games while saving you money. Well, if the service is online, one would need Xbox Gold in order to make use of Game Pass, right? Actually, that isn’t the case! Game Pass does not require Xbox Gold. As long as you have ten bucks and an online connection, you can download and enjoy whatever games you’re redeeming even if they’re online multiplayer games!

#7: Compatible with Xbox Play Anywhere

Just because it has the console’s name in the title doesn’t mean you have to be tethered to the console. You may recall that at E3 2016, Xbox introduced a new service called Xbox Play Anywhere which allows players to play select Xbox One games on PC without any additional charge. This beneficial service does not exclude Xbox Game Pass! So if a family member, roommate, or significant other wants to use the TV, you can just hop on the computer and play your games there. When you think about it, you basically got two copies of the same game for dirt cheap.

#6: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

If you still feel like Xbox Game Pass isn’t worth its low price, there is an alternative package that may interest you. While it does cost a little more (sitting at roughly fifteen dollars per month), Xbox Game Pass Ultimate gives you more benefits to reap. Not only do you get everything that Game Pass has to offer, but you also get access to Xbox Gold and all of its benefits such as free games every month and exclusive discounts during select sales. In other words, you’re getting two compelling services for about seven dollars and fifty cents each (in USD) PLUS free games!

#5: New System, Old Games

While one may hear about a new Xbox One game being added to Game Pass, the service does not limit itself to one system. Those looking to quench their thirst for nostalgia will find a wealth of games from the Xbox 360. So, if you missed a few games from the previous generation, they are now accessible for you to play at any time! Explore the land of Albion with the “Fable” series, marathon the entire “Gears of War” franchise, or boot up the “Rare Replay” collection to revisit classic Rare games like “Banjo-Kazooie” or “Perfect Dark”.

#4: Exclusive Discounts & Perks

Suppose you’ve found a title on Game Pass that you really enjoy, but its asking price is far too steep for your wallet. Is it time to start blasting through the game before your subscription expires? Perhaps not, as Game Pass will offer an exclusive discount after you’ve spent a bit of time with a game. If you take the discount, that game will be yours to keep even if your Game Pass subscription expires. On top of that, the service will occasionally offer special rewards, such as providing more in-game items, to enhance your experience. Whoever said gaming HAD to be an expensive hobby?

#3: Monthly Catalog

Xbox Game Pass adds more titles to its catalog every month, meaning there’s always something new to experience. As we’ve seen with games like “The Outer Worlds” and “Gears 5”, even brand new games may pop up on the service as early as launch day! It is pretty much a Netflix for video games, and that’s both a good and a bad thing. While there are more games added, there are also games removed. Luckily, if you’re still working on a game that is about to be removed from Game Pass, there’s no rush - the service won’t remove the game from your system even after the game is delisted. There’s even a Leaving Soon collection you can check out to better prioritize your time.

#2: Publisher Support

The catalog for Xbox Game Pass may feature a plethora of first-party titles, but that isn’t all that the service offers. Since its inception, Game Pass has seen a hearty amount of support from various publishers like Warner Bros. Interactive, Capcom, Devolver Digital, SEGA, Team 17, Square Enix, and many, many more. With this amount of support, it's clear that these publishers are wanting to get more games into our hands. Couple this with the exclusive discounts, and Game Pass has made it easier to enjoy newer games without breaking the bank.

#1: A Separate PC Subscription!?

No, we aren’t repeating ourselves with Xbox Anywhere and its compatibility with Game Pass. Game Pass isn’t restricted to Xbox users anymore - PC players can sign up as well, and at a lower cost! While the service is still in beta, the PC version of Game Pass offers just as many games as its console counterpart, and it does so at half the cost. At just five dollars per month, you can enjoy games like “Wasteland 3”, “Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night”, or the PC versions of “Halo Wars” and its sequel. After everything we’ve covered, it's safe to say that Game Pass is all about getting more bang out of your buck!
