Travel Guide: London, England

This is the world’s most visited city. Welcome to, and today we’ll be continuing our travel series with a look at London, England.

Old and New

Found on the River Thames, London is the capital and largest city in England and the United Kingdom. Its population of almost eight million is spread out over 610 square miles, and this populace features a blend of many different ethnic groups and cultures. You’ll also find a mix of old and new, as this bustling metropolis boasts a fascinating history.

London’s oceanic climate is a moderate one, which is typical of maritime areas. Temperatures in summer are warm, while winters are cool and extremes are rare. Despite its reputation as a rainy city, London does not receive markedly more precipitation than other European cities, and usually gets very little snow.

This weather means London is a great location for a bike ride, and this is one mode of transportation Londoners take advantage of. In recent years, the city’s infrastructure has become increasingly friendly toward cycling with the addition of new bike lanes and a public rental system.

Each year, approximately 14 million tourists travel to London, making it the world’s most visited city. Its rich history, blend of cultures and abundance of attractions make it such a popular location. For example, sightseers flock to the Tower of London, watch the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace and learn more about Shakespeare at the Globe Theatre.

The London Eye

The London Eye is a gigantic Ferris wheel that draws many travelers by offering splendid extended views of the surrounding land and landmarks.

London is also known as one of the foremost cities for culture in the world. It is well-known for its theaters and thriving arts scene, as well as a booming and friendly pub culture. Be sure to take part in some of the regional cuisine as well: the idea that British food is tasteless is definitely outdated.

Many Visitors

If it’s history, cultural icons and friendly people you’re looking for, make sure you’re one of the many visitors to London.
