On the heels of sending up Flashdance with a hysterical poster, Deadpool 2 has dropped a new trailer showcasing Josh Brolin as the villainous Cable. Where the previous previews poked fun at Superman and Bob Ross, this trailers gives us a better idea of the film’s plot, which naturally revolves around the conflict between Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson and Cable. Of course since is Deadpool we’re talking about, the trailer takes a few unexpected turns.
Let’s take a look at the three most hilarious highlights from the Deadpool 2 trailer.
3. Playing With Expectations
If you were to see this trailer in the theater for the first time, you might not even realize it’s for Deadpool 2. The dark, brooding narration from Cable certainly feels more like something out of Batman v Superman. Once you spot his teddy bear sidekick, however, it quickly becomes clear that this isn’t going to be a typical action flick. It all comes together when Deadpool literally pauses the trailer because the filmmakers didn’t complete the special effects on Cable’s arm. Well, at least they didn’t forget to remove anyone’s mustache.
2. Deadpool Hijacking the Trailer
It wouldn’t be a Deadpool trailer if the Merc with a Mouth didn’t break down the fourth wall. Enraged about the arm mishap, Deadpool decides to just act out the scene with action figures. It’s like the opening of Toy Story if Andy was replaced with Eric Cartman. Honestly, it’s actually more realistic than a lot of modern CGI visual effects.
1. Blind Al is Packing
From this point on, the trailer packs in several familiar faces, including Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa. It’s Leslie Uggams’s Blind Al who steals the show at the last minute, however. Sitting next to her roommate, Al yanks out a gun as Cable approaches. Not having the best vision, she points her weapon the wrong direction, but at least she’s always prepared for a shootout.
