If you’re looking for a 4K TV – you know, these new televisions that deliver four times the resolution of 1080p HD – then you’ve come to the right place. Hey everyone, Welcome to Gear Up, the WatchMojo series that looks at the latest in tech trends. I’m Marc Saltzman, and in this video, we’ll look at FIVE of the absolute best 4K TVs on the market. Because they tend to drop in price over time, we’re not going to mention price here, but be forewarned these aren’t the cheapo TVs. As they say, if you have to ask how much, you can’t afford them. JK. Not listed in any particular order, the first kickass 4K TV on our list?

Samsung’s 88-inch S-UHD 4K Curved Smart TV. Model # is KS9810 Series 9

Samsung’s 88-inch S-UHD 4K Curved Smart TV. Model # is KS9810 Series 9, and it’s one of Samsung’s “Quantum Dot” TVs. Wait, what? While “quantum dot” might sound like something out of a sci-fi movie, it’s what’s behind this extraordinary picture quality. Quantum dot offers a better brightness than regular 4K TVs thanks to teeny tiny “nano” crystals -- microscopic dots as small as one billionth of a meter -- that are laid out in sheets front of the television’s backlight source. These dots are much more efficient at transferring the backlight’s photon energy, resulting in higher peak brightness, and thus enabling support for “high dynamic range” content, if you’ve heard that buzzword. “HDR”-enabled televisions display pictures with a greater difference in the brightest and darkest parts of the image, and therefore look a lot more lifelike. Plus, quantum dot TVs like this Samsung KS9810 deliver a wider, more true-to-life colour palette -- especially reds, greens, and cyans. And did we mention this is 88 inches, curved, and is a smart Smart TV, too? Also love Samsung’s Infinity screen design, with its minimalist bezel.

#2: LG’s OLED65G6P…

This is LG’s signature O-LED television. O-LED – an acronym for “organic light-emitting diodes” -- offer much better contrast ratios compared to LED-backlit televisions, as well as more vibrant colours and smooth motion. These TVs are also much thinner – as no backlighting is required – plus they’re more energy efficient than other TV panel types. This LG TV is only 4 credit cards thick – which is how many cards you’ll probably need to buy this thing. While thin may be in, it’s the jaw-dropping picture of this 65-inch 4K TV with HDR that you’ll love. Between its thinness and lifelike picture, you can see why LG calls this “picture on glass,” as the screen appears as a clear bezel. The OLED65G6P also features great sound from its forward-firing sound bar speaker system, AND a webOS 3.0 Smart TV platform that works with the Magic Remote, included, for mouse-like functionality, support for mobile devices, and more.

#3: 4KTV…Sony Z 9D Series…

Available in 65 and 75 inches – and soon, 100 inches -- Sony’s crème de la crème Z Series televisions showcase Sony’s 4K High Dynamic Range technology, complimented by Sony’s innovative Backlight Master Drive technology, to deliver a picture with brighter whites and deeper blacks, and more vibrant colors. Sony’s 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme help creates a reality that you can feel -- like you’re really freakin’ there. The premium gold bezel helps this 4K HDR TV look good in any room while cables stay cleverly hidden at the back and the front. Seriously, look at this thing. Don’t you just want to throw out your existing TV? It’s also powered by Android TV for a rich Smart TV experience.

#4: Panasonic’s Viera DX902

Yes, Panasonic still makes TVs, and this one’s a looker. It received a perfect 5-out-of-5 score at Tech Radar, ExpertReviews and WhatHiFi. While these 58- and 65-inch TVs might be a bigger deal in Europe than here in North America, check this out. Panasonic’s flagship DX902 reaffirms Panasonic’s commitment to bring the ultimate cinematic experience to the home. Not only is it Panasonic’s first ‘Ultra HD Premium’ certified TV – tuned by filmmakers, Panasonic says -- the DX902 is powered by a brand-new chipset called the Studio Master HCX+, which stands for Hollywood Cinema Experience plus. You get the idea. A little more jargon soup here – it’s 3000Hz Backlight Motion Rate makes this LED TV display smooth and clear images – even in fast-moving scenes – and of course it’s also Panasonic’s top-of-the-line Smart TV, too.

#5: The Vizio P-Series Ultra HD HDR TVs

It’s a bargain for the 50-inch version and still a great deal in its massive 75-inch version, the Vizio P-Series has top-tier picture quality tech like Ultra HD High Dynamic Range with Dolby Vision content support, and offers a wide color gamut and Full-Array LED backlighting with up to 128 Active LED Zones. Look, the picture might not rival quantum dot or OLED, but no doubt you’ll be impressed. Motion is handled by Clear Action 960 and a 240 Hz Effective Refresh Rate. As a smart TV, there’s built in Chromecast for access to thousands of apps like Netflix, Vudu, Hulu, and more, PLUS it ships with an included 6-inch Android Tablet remote with pre-loaded VIZIO SmartCast app. SmartCast lets you control settings like volume, backlight and more, while also letting you search, browse and discover content.
