Why not earn some cash while killing time on your phone? Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’ll be counting down the Top 5 Apps That Can Make You Money. For this list, we’re looking at apps from which you can turn a profit. None of them are going to make you rich, but they all have the potential to legitimately earn you a little bit of extra spending money, either in the form of gift cards or cold hard cash. But, however useful they might be, we won’t be including money-saving apps like Paribus, because they help you get back cash you already spent, rather than genuinely making more of it.

#5: Surveys on the Go

Most of us do online questionnaires for fun, so why not take a more focused approach and get paid? The questionnaires offered by this app typically pay out an average of a dollar, and take only a few minutes. The downside is, the surveys are limited - you tend to get only one or two per week. That being said, you might get a location-specific one that pays out substantially more. With a 4.4 rating on the Google Play Store based on 44,500 reviews, and a 4.5 on iTunes based on over 3,000 reviews, as of January 2018, this survey app seems trustworthy. And when you achieve an account balance of at least $10, you can cash out.

#4: Shopkick

Are you a shopaholic, both online and in person? With this nifty little rewards app on your phone, you can add a whole new dynamic to your daily shopping experience. Shopkick allows you to earn “kickbucks” in a variety of commerce-minded ways. Though purchasing selected goods, either online or in-store, from specific retailers will earn you the most rewards, you can earn kickbucks simply by walking into certain stores or scanning requested products on your phone. Submitting receipts can also earn you points! When you have enough points, you can cash with gift cards to places like Walmart, AMC, Target, Sephora, Amazon, Starbucks and more. Then… it’s time to treat yo’ self!

#3: Foap

Are you an avid amateur photographer, looking to get a little more for your many beautiful photos than merely the feeling of validation that comes from Instagram likes? Why not sign up for Foap, an app that lets you upload your photos to their database where, after a quick peer review for quality control, people can purchase them for $10. When one of your photos gets purchased, you and the service split the profit 50/50. You’re not selling exclusive use however; so if you post a great pic, you may get multiple sales out of it. There are also brand-specific contests, calling for specific types of photos, in which you can compete for larger cash prizes.

Do you have a brain brimming with facts and interesting tidbits across a wide range of subjects? Then HQ is the app for you! Think of it as the next logical evolution of trivia shows like “Jeopardy!,” tailor-made for the smartphone generation. It’s a form of live game show, with an actual host, and real cash prizes. Everyone is welcome to play the two games that happen each day, with the questions quickly whittling down the competition as players are eliminated. Everyone who makes it through all 12 questions splits the pot. It’s usually only about $10 bucks per winner, but hey, played twice a day, that can add up. Plus, it can sometimes be significantly more than that. Most importantly, it’s just a lot of fun!

#1: Acorns

Most of us are pretty negligent with our spare change. It sits in the cup holder of our cars. It gets lost in the couch. And in this modern age of online banking, most us of us, sadly, might not even notice if change disappeared from our bank accounts after each transaction. So why not have it automatically go to good use? Acorns connects to your credit card, debit card, and bank accounts, and whenever you spend, it’ll round up to the nearest dollar and invest that change into a diversified set of stocks and bonds. It does cost $1 per month in management fees, but the reviews are in, and the results, though conservative, seem worth it for some users.
