Top 3 Things You Missed in Season 3 Episode 6 of Rick and Morty

Welcome to “Watch Rick and Morty,” the weekly show where we take a look at some of the Easter eggs, important moments, and theories from the newest episode of Rick and Morty. On this episode, we’ll be taking a look at Season 3, Episode 6: “Rest and Ricklaxation.” #3: The Abadango Cluster The episode yada-yada’d the mission to the Abadango Cluster, leaving in just enough details for us to speculate what all that was about. From the information we have, it seems like Rick had to earn the plasma shard from the princess by performing some sort of abortion on that giant android crab by flying into its chest-vagina while being chased by sperm-like aliens. The giant blue ships attacking the beast from the outside look like they’re clearing a path for Rick and Morty’s smaller ship to fly in and destroy it from the inside using what looks like Isotope three-twenty-two, which they manage to do while barely escaping with their lives. Judging by all the pregnancy imagery, it seems like the android crab was about to reproduce, and Rick was tasked with preventing that from happening. Their reward: a “New Hope” style medal ceremony and the plasma shard Rick was after in the first place, though judging by his reaction, it obviously wasn’t worth the trauma. #2: The Morty of Wallstreet With all of the toxic elements of his personality sucked out of Morty, he’s full of energy and free from the crippling anxiety that’s been holding him back his whole life. This scene, in which Morty pulls from his experience chasing after Jessica to convince a guy named Dwayne to buy stocks, is obviously a nod to the penny stocks scene in “The Wolf of Wallstreet.” The irony of Morty of all people becoming a Wallstreet big-shot isn’t lost of Rick, who compares Morty’s new white-collar persona to Patrick Bateman. Though it seemed to be working out for him, Morty all but voluntarily reunited with his own toxicity, bringing him back to square one. This moment, and this episode in general, is all about living with your own flaws and accepting them as part of who you are – though we probably would have just taken the money. Before we get to our top moment, here are some of the best lines from this week’s episode: - “So true” - “Only in the ways that matter” - “We made him up for money!” #1: Horsin’ Arround If there’s one takeaway from season 3 so far, it’s that neither Beth nor Jerry are handling the separation particularly well. As we saw in last week’s episode, Jerry is extremely lonely, and Beth is in desperate need of some distraction. It’s fitting, then, that she would tape a picture of a horse head over Jerry’s face in a picture of the two of them that sits in the living room. This episode, and this small, throwaway detail, are reminders of the heart of the series – if you take away all the sci-fi elements, wacky poop jokes, and constant belching, you’re left with a story about an unstable family. That, and a guy who thinks that love is toxic.
