#3: “Collateral” (2018)
Netflix
If you live in the UK, you may’ve already watched this BBC/Netflix co-production. But for everyone else, March 9th marks the day “Collateral” drops on Netflix, meaning your weekend plans are set. Sure, it seems like a typical police procedural, but you’ll find it’s a clever series with a simple setup that takes the show in bold directions. Telling the story of a Syrian refugee who’s murdered in London, this miniseries features standout performances from BBC regulars, like “Doctor Who” alums Carey Mulligan and Billie Piper. With intrigue that never lets up, “Collateral” isn’t without its flaws, but with only four episodes to get through, you might even have enough time to discuss it over drinks with your buds.
#2: “Love” - Season 3 (2018)
Netflix
If you’d rather Netflix and chill this weekend, and are ready to squirm or discuss serious relationship issues, this one’s more your speed. “Love”’s third and final season drops Friday, with all the awkward sex and quiet humor this Judd Apatow series is known for. In fact, if we were to sum up this show in one word, we’d call it “honest”: its take on dating, romance and intimacy reminds everyone that sex is weird yo, and love is nothing if not complicated. As this is the series’ last season, there are lots of juicy topics to chew on, so get comfy, snuggle up to your significant other (mechanical or otherwise) and get ready to laugh and ‘awwwww’ in equal measure.
#1: “Jessica Jones” - Season 2 (2018)
Netflix
Uh, guys? This came out today; if you’ve got any sick days stored up, tomorrow might be a good day to cash in, because things are getting even worse for our favorite superhero private investigator. Yeah, somehow in season 2, Jessica finds a whole new level below rock bottom: she’s fighting to cope with the traumatic events of season 1, while also struggling with her identity as a superhero AND digging deeper into her mysterious past – so this is a dense season packed with twists and turns. “Jessica Jones” is the most binge-able of the Netflix superhero shows, and star Krysten Ritter displays the most relatable anger and frustration we’ve ever seen in a reluctant hero, so these 13 episodes are an absolute must-watch.
