Top 10 TV Characters from Different Shows We Wish Could Date

Top 10 TV Characters from Different Shows We Wish Could Date
VOICE OVER: Elise Doucet WRITTEN BY: Nick Spake
These are the TV characters from different shows we wish could date.

In another universe, at another time, these couples would’ve been made for each other. Welcome to MsMojo and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Characters from Different Shows We Wish Could Date.

For this list, we’re taking a look at TV characters who would likely hit it off if only they were on the same TV show.

#10: Buffy Summers & Khal Drogo
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (1997-2003) & “Game of Thrones” (2011-19)

They may have very different tones, but “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Game of Thrones” were both pioneering shows for the fantasy genre. While Buffy’s rapid-fire pop culture references might feel out of place in Westeros, we could nonetheless see her thriving in this environment. She would just need to trade in “Mr. Pointy” for a Valyrian steel dagger. If Buffy teamed up with Khal Drogo, there wouldn’t be a mightier alliance in the Seven Kingdoms. Just as Drogo fell for Daenerys, we imagine he’d be enamored by Buffy’s wits and confidence. Buffy, meanwhile, would be drawn to Drogo’s natural leadership and abs that would make Angel envious. Whether or not they took the Iron Throne, we’d definitely bow down to this power couple.

#9: Robin Buckley & Cheryl Blossom
“Stranger Things” (2016-) & “Riverdale” (2017-)

These teenage girls had two of the most prominent coming out storylines in modern television. Pumped up with truth serum, Robin confesses to her co-worker Steve that she never had the hots for him, but rather his posse of female followers. As for Cheryl, despite starting out as a mean girl, she eventually begins to lower her defenses, revealing to future girlfriend Toni Topaz that she’s bisexual. Robin and Cheryl would relate to each other’s personal struggles, but that’s not the only reason they’d be a great match. Both are snarky, cool, and sarcastic, but also fiercely dedicated to the ones they love most. In an upside-down world where Riverdale and Hawkins collide, Robin and Cheryl could finish each other’s insults.

#8: Schmidt & Gina Linetti
“New Girl” (2011-18) & “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (2013-)

“New Girl” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” actually had a crossover event in 2016, meaning that Schmidt and Gina technically exist in the same world. Granted, it would still be hard to get them together since Schmidt is happily married to Cece and Gina is focused on her career as an internet celebrity. Regardless, both were the resident scene-stealers on their respective sitcoms and the comedic chemistry would be off the charts if these two big personalities ever clashed. We could totally picture a show where Gina becomes the new dance instructor for Floorgasm. Schmidt, having saved up a small fortune in his douchebag jar, decides to invest in the rising dance troupe. A workplace romance sparks between the two and hilarity ensues.

#7: Octavia Blake & Damon Salvatore
“The 100” (2014-) & “The Vampire Diaries” (2009-17)

You could argue that there’s a bit of a time gap between these two, as “The Vampire Diaries” is mostly set in modern day while “The 100” picks up in 2149 following a nuclear war. Seeing how Damon is a vampire, though, age isn’t exactly an issue. Having been around since the nineteenth century, Damon could surely survive whatever this post-apocalyptic world throws at him. And in Octavia, who’s similarly no stranger to survival, he’d find a worthy partner. Both know what it’s like to go down a dark path, leaving a trail of blood behind, yet, Damon and Octavia have also found redemption and emerged as unlikely heroes. As a pair, they’d bring out the humanity in each other and likely prove unstoppable.

#6: Felicity Smoak & Seth Cohen
“Arrow” (2012-) & “The O.C.” (2003-07)

One’s a tech genius who had a brief flirtation with the Flash. The other is a comic book enthusiast whose actor almost played the Flash. Together, this pair would be faster than the speed of love. If Orange County was a superhero hub, there’s no doubt that Seth would be the guy in the watchtower providing backup and making clever one-liners. Given their similar professions, he’d inevitably cross paths with Felicity and cupid’s arrow would strike. Even if you cut out all the superhero action, we’d gladly watch a series with Felicity and Seth making adorkable banter at a computer. Both shows are Warner Bros. properties, so make it happen! Until then, at least Felicity has Oliver and Seth has James Gordon… we mean Ryan.

#5: Penny & Joey Tribbiani
“The Big Bang Theory” (2007-19) & “Friends” (1994-2004)

Some have called “The Big Bang Theory” a nerdier version of “Friends”. As such, we’d be curious to see if the characters would mesh. Upon meeting Penny, the first words to come out of Joey’s mouth would naturally be, “How you doin’?” While Penny is no dumb blonde, her intelligence isn’t on the same level as her science-savvy friends. Likewise, Joey has trouble keeping up with his friends. While Ross and Sheldon talk dinosaurs, Penny and Joey would find that they have a lot in common, including a passion for acting. Being Dr. Drake Ramoray, Joey could help Penny land her big break on “Days of Our Lives” and teach her “smell the fart” acting. Now that’s a “Joey” spinoff we’d love to see!

#4: Piper Halliwell & Dean Winchester
“Charmed” (1998-2006) & “Supernatural” (2005-)

The Winchester brothers have encountered countless supernatural beings over the years, including witches. So it only makes sense that they would bump into the Charmed Ones somewhere down the line. There are a couple interesting “ships” we could see arising from such a crossover, but Piper and Dean’s chemistry would put an enchanting spell on audiences. Both know what it’s like to step up in a never-ending battle against the mystical forces of evil. They also know what it’s like to die, only to be brought back from the dead. When demons are up to no good, Piper’s magic and Dean’s hunting skills would make for a badass pairing with plenty of room for witty quips.

#3: Jade West & Sam Puckett
“Victorious” (2010-13) & “iCarly” (2017-12)

While they didn’t get to interact much in the “iParty with Victorious” crossover, these two queens of sass become fast friends on an episode of “Sam & Cat.” Not unlike Korra and Asami from another Nickelodeon series, we could see Jade and Sam becoming more than just friends over time. Both are seen as the designated mean girls of their respective groups, always getting into mischief and making cynical remarks. Where Sam often lets her fists do the talking, Jade can intimidate people with a dead stare. You wouldn’t want to get on this couple’s bad side, especially if they were both armed with a pair of scissors. It’s about high time they hopped aboard Sam’s motorcycle and rode off into the sunset together.

#2: Barney Stinson & Samantha Jones
“How I Met Your Mother” (2005-14) & “Sex and the City” (1998-2004)

With one being a womanizer and the other being a man-eater, neither of these New Yorkers are big on commitment. Even when they do fall in love and enter serious relationships, it’s not permanent; that’s why Barney and Samantha are made for each other! While both can be quite shallow, they’re nonetheless dedicated friends and have revealed genuine vulnerability behind their confident exteriors. Barney learned the hard way that he’s not marriage material while Samantha has never been interested in tying the knot. The two likely want the same thing: an open relationship with someone who’s good in bed, is there when you need them, but is also independent. They’re perhaps the only two people who could be friends with benefits for life.

Before we get to our topic pick, here are a few honorable mentions:

Phoebe Buffay & Cosmo Kramer
“Friends” (1994-2004) & “Seinfeld” (1989-98)

Archie Andrews & Malia Tate
“Riverdale” (2017-) & “Teen Wolf” (2011-17)

Veronica Lodge & Nate Archibald
“Riverdale” (2017-) & “Gossip Girl” (2007-12)

Kimmy Schmidt & Abed Nadir
“Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” (2015-19) & “Community” (2009-15)

Janet & Sheldon Cooper
“The Good Place” (2016-) & “The Big Bang Theory” (2007-19)

#1: Janice Litman-Goralnik & Michael Scott
“Friends” (1994-2004) & “The Office” (2005-13)

Even obnoxious people deserve to be happy! To be fair, these two characters mean well and can even be likable in their own ways. That being said, we can definitely understand why working for Michael would be stressful and why Chandler would fly to Yemen to get away from Janice. Both are loud, desperate for attention, and are completely oblivious to just frustrating they can be. At the end of the day, though, both simply want to find love. Where others may see them as annoying, Michael and Janice could see past each other’s faults to find their redeeming qualities. Considering that Michael actually compares himself to Chandler in one episode, we’re sure Janice would take a quick liking to him.
