“Made In Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul” (2020) Just when you thought it wasn’t possible for the Sovereign of Dawn to sink any lower, just when you thought there was no cruller act he could commit…he does this. Bad enough what he put Nanachi and Mitty through for the sake of his experiments, but to reduce his own daughter into a fleshless weapon to be used as a means to fend off the Curse of the Abyss is beyond heartless. The fact he didn’t consider the literal deconstruction of Pruska to be malicious in any way and just a logical step is the perfect encapsulation of what makes Bondrewd so terrifying.

“Fate/Zero” (2011-12) For a supposedly genius mage competing in the Fourth Holy Grail War, you would have thought that Tohsaka would have taken every possible precaution to ensure he made it out alive…including not to completely trust the emotionally stunted church assassin. Inspired by Gilgamesh’s words about finding his own joy, even if it be through evil means, Kotomine embraces his newfound sadistic lifestyle by stabbing his old friend in the back. It’s a pathetic end to such an egotistical fool of a character, as well as the rise of one of Fate’s most infamous antagonists.

“Death Note” (2006-07) And this is why dating guys who happen to be mass murdering gods of the new world is never a good idea. An old flame of Light’s that he sought to use for his own ends, Takada was promised a place by his side as a Goddess, one who would replace Misa. As expected of Light, he lied. After Mello kidnapped her in an effort to find a way to discover Kira’s identity, Light uses the Death Note to have Takada take her own life and keep his secret secure. Some boyfriend, huh?

“Rurouni Kenshin” (1996-98) The battle between the former and current Manslayers is a showdown for the ages, pushing the two strongest swordsmen of their era into a bloody bout that concludes when Kenshin demonstrates that he’s still the superior swordsman. Not for Shishio’s lack of trying. He nearly sets Kenshin alive, takes a bite out of him, and of course, tries to land a cheap shot…by stabbing him through his girlfriend. Yumi may have awful taste in men but even she didn’t deny an unceremonious death like that!
