Top 10 New Pokemon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Who knew that the abundance of iron in the waters of the Hisui region could make this powerful Dragon-type even more formidable? Like many other Pokémon, Goodra was lucky enough to receive a new regional form. Now sporting the toughness of a Steel-type in addition to its classic Dragon-type, Goodra’s snail-like appearance is more than just for show. With the power to control the hardness of its steel shell at the cost of its speed, Goodra has become a formidable tank that has twice as many resistances than its Kalosian counterparts. While it is normally an adorable Pokémon, the thought of losing those closest to it is guaranteed to send it on a rampage.

Among the new group of starters for “Pokémon Legends: Arceus,” players have the option to choose the Water-type Oshawatt, which eventually evolves into Hisuian Samurott. Unlike its Unovan counterpart, this new version of Samurott is both a Water and Dark-type, giving players a much needed advantage when it comes to exploring the wilds of the Hisui region. As with all regional variants, this new Samurott comes with a new design and a powerful new signature move known as Ceaseless Edge, which continues to inflict damage even after its been used. Whether it's fighting wild Alpha’s or even a frenzied Noble Pokémon, Hisuian Samurott is a valuable ally for any player willing to take on the Hisui region.

It took more than two decades, but at long last, the Pokémon Stantler has finally gotten a much needed upgrade with its brand new evolution, Wyrdeer. Beloved throughout the Hisui region, Wyrdeer is a Normal and Psychic-type with incredible mystic abilities. Using its psychic powers, Wyrdeer can warp space, as well as create invisible barriers via its new signature move Psyshield Bash. Wyrdeer also serves a much larger purpose besides battling, as one can also be summoned as a Ride Pokémon, allowing the player to gallop across the many areas of the Hisui region.

Not only does good old Sneasel get a decent makeover, it gains a brand new evolution as well. Despite its lanky appearance, Sneasler has a reputation for being one of the most formidable Pokémon in the Hisui region. Virtually unbeatable in its own habitat, Sneasler outmatches its opponents with its deadly fighting prowess, lethal poison and incredible speed. As a result of living on the cliffs of Hisui’s frozen highlands, Sneasler developed expert climbing abilities, making it one of the many Ride Pokémon players can access throughout the game. Thanks to Sneasler’s valuable skills, players are able to explore every cliff and crevice in the Hisui region.

It’s amazing how a Pokémon as tiny and adorable as Teddiursa could evolve into such a massive powerhouse. As a result of being exposed to Hisui’s swamplands and the light of the full moon, Ursaring experiences a unique reaction that allows it to evolve into Ursaluna. Along with its newfound power over the organic matter known as peat, Ursaluna’s giant physique makes it a living tank that players can ride on to track down and uncover both hidden treasures and people. With the power that comes with being a Normal and Ground-type, Ursaluna can easily bulldoze its way through virtually any opponent that gets in its way.

The harsh cold of the Hisui region has bestowed Decidueye with a whole new level of power. Unlike the traditional Grass and Ghost-type of its Alolan counterpart, Hisuian Decidueye has evolved into a Grass and Fighting-type. While its wings may be shorter, it possesses thicker and stronger legs, allowing Hisuian Decidueye to unleash powerful kicks. It also retains its impressive marksmanship with powerful moves like Aura Sphere and its signature move Triple Arrows which not only inflicts damage, but also boosts Decidueye’s chances of landing a critical hit while also lowering defense. For players looking for a challenge and a starter evolution with a diverse movepool, there is no better choice than the samurai archer, Hisuian Decidueye.

Sycther already has one impressive evolution, but the latest entry in the Pokémon franchise thought it deserved another. As one of the first pokémon revealed prior to the game’s release, fans have long waited for the opportunity to add Kleavor to their ranks. Wielding giant stone axes capable of slicing through large trees, Kleavor is a powerful ally to have on your team. It’s power is so feared, that most people flee at the mere sight of it. With such a fearsome reputation, it’s no wonder that Kleavor was chosen to be the first of many frenzied Noble Pokémon that the player must defeat.

While it may have a dopier expression compared to its Kantonian counterpart, there is just something about Hisuian Typhlosion that fans can’t help but love. As a Fire and Ghost-type, Hisuian Typhlosion may receive quite a few new weaknesses, but it also develops more type resistances compared to its fellow starters. Hisuian Typhlosion also has a higher special attack than regular Typhlosion, which pairs well with its species reputation for using powerful moves, including new Ghost-type attacks such as Shadow Ball and its signature move, Infernal Parade. Plus let’s be honest, the ethereal nature of it’s fiery mane is way more impressive than that of regular Typhlosion.

As the Puppy Pokémon, there is no question that Growlithe is adorable. However, its Hisuian counterpart is even more so. As one of the first and most notable Pokémon unveiled prior to the release of “Pokémon Legends: Arceus,” Hisuian Growlithe had quite an impact on fans who took to social media to show support for this lovable, fan-favorite Pokémon and it's easy to see why. As a result of thriving in Hisui’s harsh, volcanic environments, Hisuian Growlithe developed a much larger and softer fur coat, which is the reason behind this lovable pups' adorability. While it takes longer for people to bond with a Hisuian Growlithe, the long term benefits are worth it.

For the first time in a decade, Zoroark finally has a new form. Along with its haunting new design, Hisuian Zoroark, along with its pre-evolution Zorua, are made even more unique by the fact that they are the first Pokémon to have the Normal and Ghost-type combination. Unable to cope with Hisui’s harsh environment, Zorua perished but soon came back to life due to their resentment towards the humans and Pokémon that shunned them. After evolving into Hisuian Zoroark, their spiritual power also grew to the point where their illusions became strong enough to inflict both mental and physical harm. While many consider it to be the living embodiment of death, Hisuian Zoroark is still an invaluable ally to anyone that earns its trust.
