While riding on a crowded ship, Liu is surprised by an attack from Richard’s forces. A high-speed chase across the vessel ensues, culminating in a marathon sprint along the top of the boat, bullets flying all the way.

Buckle up, ‘cause this ain’t your average fairytale fight. A rivalry often warred on water; it was only natural that Captain Hook’s tyrannical pirates and the fun-loving Lost Boys settle their feud on a ship. What follows is a most memorable family movie combat sequence, filled with action, comedy, and tears. On top of the emotion, the confrontations are quite creative, with innovative food weaponry and even a human bowling ball.

#8: Melee Aboard the Disco Volante “Thunderball” (1965)

James Bond has done battle on all sorts of sea vessels, but it’s this classic race-against-time struggle that’s our favorite, wetsuit and all. SPECTRE agent Emilio Largo’s boat is carrying enough bombs to decimate Miami Beach, leaving Bond desperate to stop him. Brawling on the ship’s small bridge, he’s outnumbered by Largo and his henchmen. The bombs, high speed and tight space lend this one great intensity, all wrapped up with an unexpected twist.

#7: Rescue on the Seas “Taken” (2008)

Never before has such a dominating fight been so thrilling! Running wild on the yacht carrying his kidnapped daughter, Bryan Mills single-handedly bulldozes through an entire child slavery ring. His rage is intoxicating, diving through glass and smashing faces in a mad dash to find her before it’s too late. Ending in an ultra-suspenseful gunpoint confrontation, this sequence helped prove that Liam Neeson did indeed have a very particular set of skills.

#6: Sea of Love-Interrupted! “Dragons Forever” (1988)

Top 10 Jackie Chan Fights

A man might just go overboard when Jackie Chan finds himself cornered on a yacht. In “Dragons Forever,” Chan plays Jackie Lung, a lawyer caught up in a narcotics case. While taking a romantic rendezvous on the water, Jackie is surprised by thugs. The ensuing mayhem is a perfect example of what made Chan famous, manipulating his body around chairs, ladders, and railings to even the score in this Hong Kong cult favorite.

#5: Swashbuckling Masters “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” (2007)

Aided by Hans Zimmer’s stirring score, the sword fight between Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones is a perfect pirate battle. A member of the East India Trading Company with a vendetta against Captain Jack Sparrow, Jones hopes to stamp out piracy. They go at it in the midst of a raging storm, Jones’s supernatural abilities and Captain Jack’s personality making for a colorful clash of character over Calypso’s raging maelstrom.

#4: Fistfight Finale on a Houseboat “Cape Fear” (1991)

It doesn’t matter if it’s on land or at sea: mess with a man’s family, and you’re bound to face consequences. Lawyer Sam Bowden’s life is rocked when ex-client Max Cady harasses his family, upset over an unsuccessful defense and lengthy jail term. Their long-awaited encounter, on the Bowden houseboat, is gritty and methodical, years of pent-up frustration exploding in each punch. Not to mention a brutal, improvised trial that you won’t soon forget.

#3: Speedboat Showdown “Patriot Games” (1992)

Retired CIA agent Jack Ryan bites off more than he can chew when he kills the brother of guerilla IRA member Sean Miller. Bloodthirsty for revenge, Miller confronts Ryan at his Maryland home, culminating in a speedboat chase. The men wind up engaged in a life-or-death wrestling match on a burning boat, grappling for control of an anchor in this up-close-and-deadly-personal climax where one wrong move could end it all.

#2: Dual-Identity Boat Chase “Face/Off” (1997)

Nic Cage and John Travolta face-off in the most explosive boat scene known to man. Seriously, look at the size of these explosions. For an investigation, FBI agent Sean Archer switches faces with jailed criminal Castor Troy, only for Troy to escape wearing Archer’s skin. Their duel leads to a riveting speedboat chase, which turns into an onboard free-for-all when Archer hops aboard. Improvised skiing and copious boat-on-boat violence result in this action-packed struggle to stay afloat, courtesy of John Woo. Before we hop aboard our final pick, here are some honorable mentions: - Triad Shootout “Lethal Weapon 4” (1998) - Errol Flynn, King of the Swashbucklers “Captain Blood” (1935) - Showdown for Pirate Ship Treasure “The Goonies” (1985) - Last-Ditch Struggle for Enola “Waterworld” (1995)

#1: Surviving the High Tides of Venice “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” (1989)

It’s only natural that the world’s greatest adventurer found our most death-defying boat fight. On a search for his missing father, Indy and Dr. Elsa Schneider are tailed by a group of Holy Grail protectors. Racing in speedboats, Jones fights the men between boats while avoiding a slew of obstacles, most notably a near-crushing squeeze and a menacing motor. For pure creativity and suspenseful fighting, there are no boat battles better. Do you agree with our list? What’s you favorite movie fight set on a boat?
