Jumping ship, she swims back to shore and throws herself at the ape-man. Instead of holding hands, Jane expresses her affection with a passionate kiss. As Tarzan kisses her back, two worlds join together to make one family.

Top 10 Disney Princess Songs

Cursed by the evil fairy Maleficent, Princess Aurora is destined to prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and perish. The good fairy Merryweather finds a loophole, however, declaring that Aurora can be awakened by true love’s kiss. When Aurora turns 16, Maleficent’s prophecy comes true and the princess falls into an endless slumber. Fortunately, Prince Phillip is around to save the day. After slaying Maleficent in dragon form, Phillip makes his way through the quiet palace. Reaching the castle’s highest tower, he uncovers the sleeping beauty and plants one on her rosy lips. Opening her eyes, Aurora is greeted with the happiest sight imaginable: the handsome young man she fell in love with “nce upon a dream”. While no words are spoken, this heartfelt scene says everything through colorful animation, uplifting music, and rich atmosphere.

#8: Nala & Simba “The Lion King” (1994)

As cubs, Simba and Nala merely viewed each other as best buds. As fully-grown lions, however, their playful friendship blossoms into a romantic relationship. The Oscar-winning “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” elegantly sets the mood when Simba and Nala are reunited in perfect harmony. Their evening together works up to an especially enchanted moment, as Nala gives Simba a big lick across his cheek. In the animal kingdom, this is widely considered the equivalent of a kiss. It marks a significant turning point in the wide-eyed Simba’s life, as he leaves childhood in the past and starts to emerge as an adult. The lion feels the love tonight indeed.

#7: Tiana & Prince Naveen “The Princess and the Frog” (2009)

This Disney fairytale adaptation puts an ingenious spin on the true love’s kiss trope, as Tiana attempts to break a spell on the slippery Prince Naveen. Locking lips with the frog prince backfires, turning Tiana in a slimy amphibian as well. Embarking on an adventure full of magic and mucus, these polar opposites come to realize that they complete each other. Even if they forever remain frogs, all that matters is that they’re together. Their bayou wedding is a glamorous affair, draped in golden sunlight. Once Mama Odie pronounces them frog and wife, the newlyweds lean in for another smooch. Since Tiana is now a princess, though, the kiss turns them back into humans, cleverly bringing this love story full circle.

#6: Rapunzel & Eugene ‘Flynn Rider’ Fitzherbert “Tangled” (2010)

Our heroes are both willing to make great sacrifices for one another in the climax of “Tangled.” In order to heal a wounded Eugene, Rapunzel agrees to give up her freedom. Eugene won’t let his true love spend another day as a prisoner, though. Paying the ultimate price, he cuts Rapunzel’s magical locks, after which her captor Mother Gothel is ultimately reduced to a pile of dust. Rapunzel and the audience can’t help but weep as Eugene seemingly takes his final breath. Luckily, it turns out Rapunzel’s tears have healing powers too. The plucky princess is beyond ecstatic as Eugene springs back to life, and she gives him a zealous kiss. Proving themselves equally brave and unselfish, these lovebirds more than earned their happily ever after.

#5: Princess Jasmine & Aladdin “Aladdin” (1992)

Disney Princess Outfits: Ranked from Most to Least Historically Accurate

Aladdin’s Magic Carpet is quite possibly the ultimate wingman. This ancient rug plays a key role in Aladdin and Jasmine’s courtship, taking them on a glorious world tour. Their date wouldn’t be complete without a kiss goodnight. As our Arabian lovers bid farewell on Jasmine’s balcony, Carpet pushes “Prince Ali” to make his move. This is a truly victorious moment for the street rat turned royal, not to mention an incredibly satisfying moment for the audience. It’s only fitting that the film closes out on a similar note, as Aladdin and Jasmine share another kiss on a magic carpet ride. (xref)

#4: Lady & Tramp “Lady and the Tramp” (1955)

Every Lady Gaga Acting Performance: RANKED!

When it comes to Disney couples, people usually think of dashing princes and singing princesses. “Lady and the Tramp” stands out as one of the studio’s most unique love stories, focusing on the romance between an upscale Cocker Spaniel and a street-smart stray. In the film’s most iconic scene, the Tramp treats his lady to a fancy spaghetti dinner. While slurping the same strand of spaghetti, the two dogs come together for an adorable kiss that would make cinematic history. Even over sixty years later, this kiss is still constantly referenced and parodied in pop culture. The scene itself never fails to put a smile on our faces, reminding us why Italian is often regarded as one of the most romantic languages.

#3: Princess Ariel & Prince Eric “The Little Mermaid” (1989)

Top 10 Kickass Disney Princess Moments

In order to remain human permanently, Ariel must kiss Prince Eric within three days. Eric almost kisses the girl on multiple occasions, but our heroine eventually turns back into a little mermaid. Nevertheless, this experience opens King Triton’s eyes to how much his daughter has grown up. Granting her a set of legs, Ariel is finally able to walk on the shore and give her prince an overdue smooch. We then transition to their wedding day, as Eric kisses his blushing bride. The fact that this kiss has had so much buildup makes it all the more gratifying, leaving the audience on the most uplifting note possible.

#2: Snow White and Prince Florian “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” (1937)

A happy ending is pretty much guaranteed in every Disney movie. But since “Snow White” was the studio’s first animated feature, audiences in 1937 weren’t sure what to expect. After biting into a poison apple, it appeared that Snow White had really bitten the dust. Watching the seven dwarfs and woodland critters mourn the princess only made this sequence more heartbreaking. As we all know now, however, a beacon of hope arrives in the form of a prince. Approaching the glass coffin, the prince gives the sleeping maiden a kiss and revives her. Tear-jerking, suspenseful, and deeply emotional, this scene epitomizes everything we love about Disney. As far as Disney kisses go, it also set the standard for generations to come. Before we get to our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions: Megara & Hercules “Hercules” (1997) Esmeralda & Captain Phoebus “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” (1996) Anna & Kristoff “Frozen” (2013) Pocahontas & John Smith "Pocahontas” (1995) Roxanne & Max Goof “A Goofy Movie” (1995) Perdita & Pongo “One Hundred and One Dalmatians” (1961)

#1: Belle & Prince Adam [aka Beast] “Beauty and the Beast” (1991)

“Snow White” might’ve set the standard for Disney kisses, but “Beauty and the Beast” perfected this fairy tale trope as old as time. Having found love inBelle, the Beast is able to die content in the knowledge that she’s safe. But just before the enchanted rose’s last petal drops, Belle declares her own feelings for the reformed monster. This breaks the spell set upon the castle, changing the Beast back into a human. Looking deep into his eyes, Belle sees the man that’s been hiding underneath all that fur. The two embrace each other, sharing a kiss to end all kisses, literally setting off fireworks. Exquisitely animated, triumphantly scored, and overflowing with romance, this magical kiss makes us all believe in true love. Do you agree with our list? What’s your favorite kiss in a Disney movie?
