Talented musician Cyrus enters a songwriting contest when he learns that his childhood friend, love interest and superstar Roxie will be selecting the winner. Writing under the pseudonym, “Truth”, Roxie mistakenly credits Cyrus’ friend Kris as the brains behind this modern love song. With prominent musical producers, songwriters and performers creating the movie’s soundtrack, it’s no wonder that we can’t get this song out of our heads. It’s a fun electro-pop beat paired with impressive rap skills, making it a surefire winner for us too. We challenge you to remain unmoved literally and emotionally whenever you hear this song.

#9: “Push It to the Limit” “Jump In!” (2007)

If you’re looking for a track to add to your “get pumped” playlist, look no further. It was even chosen as the movie’s promotional song, building our excitement for its premiere. Izzy finds himself immersed in the world of competitive jump rope and this song is about his determination and commitment to being number one. While we already knew Corbin Bleu could dance, this performance showed us that he was a triple threat with some pretty major jump rope moves too. If you enjoy noughties pop and R&B in the style of Usher and Justin Timberlake, this is the tune for you.

#8: “Determinate” “Lemonade Mouth (2011)

After meeting in detention, five mismatched highschoolers form a band to sing songs which encourage and promote self-expression. The song builds into an uptempo melody that will tempt even the shyest dancer to their feet. While the adults try to ban the song, it quickly gains a following thanks to its catchy tune and empowering lyrics. It also brings a powerful moment in the movie when the audience highlights the impact of the song by singing it back to the band later on. Not only is the music captivating, but you’ll find yourself ready to take on the world too.

#7: “This Is Me” “Camp Rock” (2008)

For most of this movie we watch our protagonist hide in the shadows, but now she’s ready to put that behind her with a mighty anthem. While we do hear a more demure version of the song earlier in the movie, this is the version where Mitchie finally believes in herself - and it shows. There’s a lot to love about this song, from it’s invigorating rhythm and positive message to Demi Lovato’s powerhouse vocals. If you ever need a confidence boost, blast this song and sing your heart out.

If you ever dreamt of a whirlwind Italian adventure, this movie was probably the reason why. After traveling through Rome’s most famous sites, the movie culminates in an epic performance at the Colosseum where Lizzie and Italian superstar Isabella finally expose Paolo as a fraud. We’re sure you know every word of this song by heart, but did you know that despite Hilary also playing Isabella, it’s actually her sister, Haylie who provided the vocals? If you grew up in the “Lizzie McGuire” era, we challenge you to make it through this entry without being tempted to burst into song.

Who doesn’t love a song with a positive message at its heart? This power country-pop ballad teaches us that even the obstacles are part of the journey. It was inspired by the experiences of its writers, Jon Mabe and Jessi Alexander, in the music industry. However, in the movie, it’s Miley who pens this song to express her emotions. This multi award-winning track was even considered for a Grammy but had to be withdrawn from consideration, as it hadn’t been specifically written for the movie. Still, it became triple platinum certified only a mere five months after its release.

#4: “Cruisin’ For a Bruisin’” “Teen Beach Movie” (2013)

If Disney produced a “West Side Story” and “Grease” mashup, this is essentially how we’d picture it. Not only is the movie-within-a-movie called, “Wet Side Story” but this song in particular gives us some serious “Greased Lightning” vibes. Thanks to some groovy music and choreography fit for the Broadway stage, the mesmerizing performance almost makes us forget that the bikers have come to Big Momma’s to try and steal turf from the surfers. We totally get why it was Brady’s dream to dance in this scene and we’re a little envious that we can’t just leap straight in there too.

#3: “Cheetah Sisters” “The Cheetah Girls” (2003)

Any “Cheetah Girls” fan knows that this group stands for female empowerment and sisterhood, which is reflected in all their music. After a falling out, Galleria reunites the group with this song about friendship and solidarity. The party atmosphere and infectious beat, not to mention one of the best dance breaks in the entire movie, quickly gather a large crowd and we can’t help but get swept up in the excitement. This song celebrates our differences while proving what we can achieve when we come together. It won’t be long until you’re left feeling uplifted and full of “Growl Power”.

#2: “Chillin’ Like a Villain” “Descendants 2” (2017)

Evie takes the lead as she, Carlos and Jay give Ben a few pointers on how to be more like them. The track peaked at no.2 on the US Kid Digital Songs List, proving that it isn’t just Ben who’s enchanted by this number and that we all have a little dark streak.
