VOICE OVER: Ryan Wild WRITTEN BY: Nathan Sharp
These movie outbursts will have you crying with laughter. For this list, we'll be looking at the most hilarious explosions of anger ever seen on film. Our countdown includes “The Big Lebowski”, “Shaun of the Dead”, “National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation", and more!

#10: Walter’s Bowling Alley Outburst

“The Big Lebowski” (1998) John Goodman’s Walter Sobchak is a legendary character who takes the art of bowling very, very seriously. While discussing his dog with The Dude, Walter sees Smokey go over the foul line. No matter how many pins a player knocks down after crossing the line, this rule results in the bowler receiving zero points for the roll. But Smokey refuses to acknowledge the infraction. This results in a blow-up that has lived on thanks to the magic of memes. During the tirade, Walter even pulls out a gun for emphasis. But hey, that was a league game. There are rules to adhere to...

“Zoolander” (2001) Will Ferrell can deliver an angry monologue like nobody else in the business. This is evidenced in “Zoolander,” in which he plays fashion mogul Jacobim Mugatu. His elaborate plan to assassinate the Prime Minister of Malaysia spectacularly fails at the last second. Upon seeing his scheme crumble, he blows up on Derek Zoolander and the audience during the climactic fashion show. It’s Ferrell at his angry best, complete with multiple shrill cries that may have viewers shielding their ears for protection. The look of his white goatee and ridiculous middle-parted curly hair only add to the scene’s bizarre sense of humor.

#8: Sonny Is Late for Breakfast

“Big Daddy” (1999) Everyone gets mad when they’re late for McDonald’s breakfast. Fortunately, most people have the capability to contain their anger. Sonny Koufax doesn’t have that capability. He originally promised his kid and a local homeless man to provide breakfast from McDonald’s. Unfortunately, Sonny arrives half an hour late. He’s none too happy about this and explodes in the restaurant. There are many great things about this classic outburst, including the admission that he was “cursing at the lady” and the part where he chucks someone’s fries on the ground. Thankfully, he walks away with a Happy Meal…but only after screaming about it.

#7: Pete Has to Work In the Morning

“Shaun of the Dead” (2004) Bad roommates are the worst. Unfortunately, Pete gets saddled with two terrible ones that don’t care about his sleep. When everyone else in Pete’s department gets sick due to a zombie outbreak, he’s forced to work on a Sunday. Unfortunately, his drunk roommates Shaun and Ed blast electro music at 4 AM while Pete is trying to sleep. He storms downstairs and rips the record off the turnstyle before throwing it out the door and launching into a gleefully profane tirade. The swearing can be a bit much, but it’s also not uncalled for. Anyone who’s had a bad roommate probably wishes they could’ve done the same thing.

#6: Buddy Wants Over Easy Eggs

“Anger Management” (2003) While Adam Sandler can perform some terrific angry acting, this one comes from his celebrated co-star, Jack Nicholson. In this movie, Sandler’s Dave Buznik is sentenced to undergo anger management therapy under Nicholson’s Dr. Buddy Rydell. But this doctor tends to use some unconventional methods. After Sandler’s Dave overcooks eggs, Buddy immediately throws his plate of breakfast against the wall. The way that Nicholson quickly transitions from 0 to 100 and back to 0 again is masterful. But perhaps even more hilarious is that Dave thinks the outburst is over his refusal to spoon with Buddy in bed.

#5: Bean Ruins Whistler’s Mother

Top 10 Sean Bean Deaths

“Bean” (1997) In this movie adaptation of the beloved British show, Mr. Bean respectfully glances at the popular oil painting Whistler’s Mother, The work of art was done by James McNeill Whistler in 1871. Unfortunately, Bean ruins the century-old painting by sneezing on it. He tries saving the day by “restoring” it to its original mastery. However, Curator David Langley isn’t very impressed by the rush art job. He hilariously fires through all the horrible repercussions that await him when the ruined painting is unveiled. Peter MacNicol performs the monologue brilliantly! Throughout the rant, his unhinged panic proves to be incredibly hilarious.

#4: The Pen Is Blue

“Liar Liar” (1997) This comedy classic sees Jim Carrey at his most gloriously manic, and it results in a lot of gold comedy. He plays Fletcher Reede, a lawyer who finds himself unable to lie after his son makes a magic birthday wish. Fletcher confirms his affliction by trying to tell himself that his blue pen is actually red. Of course, he can’t bring himself to say it. This leads to Carrey launching into one of the greatest tirades of his career. It combines all his classic trademarks, including goofy noises and exaggerated slapstick comedy. Never before has a simple pen caused so much consternation.

#3: Reciting the Alphabet

“Vampire’s Kiss” (1989) We’re never really sure if we should be taking Nicolas Cage seriously or not. In “Vampire’s Kiss,” he leans into his gonzo reputation by playing a mentally ill literary agent who becomes paranoid about vampires. The movie’s most famous sequence sees Cage’s Peter Loew reciting the alphabet to his therapist. We didn’t know it was possible to do this with such vigor! While this entire monologue is gold, the cherry on top is Cage’s childish claim that he’s never misfiled a document. Quite frankly, we don’t know how his co-star Elizabeth Ashley kept a straight face. How do you not laugh at this?

#2: “You’re Tearing Me Apart!”

“The Room” (2003) Tommy Wiseau’s iconic film is a treasure trove of bad lines, incompetent filmmaking, and ridiculous over-acting. The movie is filled with scenes that have become memes, gifs, and reaction images. One of the most memorable sees Johnny tearing into his fiancée Lisa because of a recent rift in their relationship. Thanks to a unique combination of dialogue and a very committed actor, we get a once in a lifetime outburst. The way Wiseau goes from angry to defeated to angry again over the course of one monologue is mesmerizing. Although it’s supposed to be a genuinely emotional scene, it comes off as absurdly hilarious.

#1: Clark Doesn’t Get His Bonus

“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” (1989) Throughout this classic Christmas comedy, family man Clark Griswold desperately hopes for a holiday bonus. This is mainly due to the fact that he spent money that he didn’t have on a backyard pool. Instead of a bonus, Clark receives a membership to the “Jelly of the Month Club.” Snapping from the stresses of family, finances, and the general holiday season, Clark launches into a legendary attack on his boss. The names that he calls the head of the company are both highly creative and hilarious. Chevy Chase plays Clark’s over-stressed rant to perfection. It also ends on a gloriously high note with Clark inquiring about some Tylenol. After an outburst like this, a headache is virtually guaranteed.
