Written by Alex Crilly-Mckean Top 10 Disturbing Resident Evil 7 Moments Say hello to your new family. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we are counting down our picks for the top ten disturbing Resident Evil 7 Moments. For this list, we’ll be looking at the creepiest moments from this video game franchise’s latest instalment. As such, expect plenty of spoilers and mature content down the line.

#10: Andre’s Corpse

As we had seen during a flashback segment, Ethan and Mia weren’t the only ones preyed on by the Bakers. As a ragtag film crew made up of cameraman Clancy, producer Andre and frontman Pete venture into the seemingly abandoned household, each end up meeting a grizzly demise. While on the hunt for his missing wife, Ethan takes the same path as the crew, only to come face to face with Andre’s rotting body along the way in one of the first of many jump-scares.

#9: Clancy’s Fate

If there’s anyone that got the short end of the stick in this game, it would be Clancy, who ended up at the mercy of the sadistic smartass Lucas. Even if you exclude all the trauma he goes through in the DLC, Clancy still has a pretty rough time of it, as Lucas forces him to go through something of a Saw-inspired death trap. Serving as something of an unnerving practise round to ensure that Ethan can survive later on, our doomed cameraman ends up getting his arm carved up by a killer mechanical clown as well as ending up burned alive. Um…thanks for the heads up there Clancy.

Even if it’s in the form of a triple-a video game, in the horror genre there’s always that one black guy that ends up brutally killed first. In this case, it happens to be Deputy David Anderson, who after meeting his death at the hands of Jack Baker gets turned into a rather sickening puzzle piece. In order to save Mia and Zoe from Lucas, Ethan is forced to retrieve a key that’s been lodging inside the officer’s corpse, and has to reach inside and pull it with his bare hands. Talk about dancing on someone’s grave.

#7: Granny Baker

As unsettling as the rest of the Baker family are, there was just something off-putting about the mysterious fifth member of the group that on first glance looked like she was already dead. That is until dear old grandma started randomly popping up everywhere, scaring is half-death as she did. As one of RE7’s many mysteries, her presence added another level of tension to the game’s atmosphere, especially when those lifeless eyes followed us around the room. Of course that’s not to say her bark is worse than her bite, especially when she’s revealed to be the final boss.

#6: Chainsaw Death Match

Lollipop Chainsaw: Everything You Should Know

After stalking us all around the house, refusing to die and just scaring the ever loving crap out of us, you better believe we were ready to throw down with Jack! We just didn’t expect it to involve chainsaws. Trapped in a tight space, all Ethan can do is battle it out with the only weapon he can find. While it’s still a chilling experience, we can’t deny there’s certainly an element of catharsis as you literally butcher Jack to pieces. While he does eventually make a return, this by far stands out as the more satisfying death scene.

#5: Footloose

If you’re quick on your feet, then chances are you might have missed this scene all together. While trying to escape the Baker household, if Ethan is too slow and gets himself captured, then we’re greeted to the oh so pleasant sight of Jack removing his leg with his shovel, where he gives him the opportunity to try and reattach it by making him crawl along the floor, grab his discarded limb, and reattach it with the help of some rather miraculous first aide juice.

#4: Marguerite Baker

If there’s anyone who can give Jack a run for his money in the crazy department, it’s his creepy as hell wife. By this point we had gathered that her power had something to do with insects, but even then we weren’t prepared for her regenerated form. Not only does she have the nasty habit of crawling around all surfaces and leaping out at us with those unnervingly long arms, but then there’s also the pleasant little addition of her crotch being replaced by some kind of hive…which you are constantly exposed to. That’s just plan gross.

#3: Supper With The Bakers

And here we thought we just had to worry about our psychotic, mutated wife. After being knocked unconscious by Jack, Ethan awakens to discover he’s now the unfortunate guest of the Baker family. We’re not sure what’s more disturbing: the offal they’re trying to serve up as food, Lucas getting his arm sawn off, our introduction to Grandma, or Jack getting up close and personal with a knife. The scene may be short lived, but it has since become one of the most iconic moments in the entire game, painting a bleak picture of things to come.

#2: Mia

She told you to stay away Ethan, and you really should have listened. Much to our surprise, we find our protagonist’s missing wife rather early on in the game, appearing to be alive and well. Unfortunately she’s not exactly of a sound mind. Under the influence of Evelyn, Mia consistently attacks Ethan, lashing out with both a knife and her now inhuman strength. Of course the grim highlight comes from when she nails Ethan to a wall with a screwdriver, and then comes at him with a chainsaw, removing his hand entirely. Now that’s a messy divorce.

#1: The Garage

10 CENSORED Moments in Resident Evil Games

Blending together scares, gore and one hell of a boss fight, the entire sequence in the Baker’s garage stands tall as the perfect example of how Resident Evil 7 managed to reclaim its former glory. After meeting up with Deputy Anderson, Jack shows up and demonstrated his hatred for law enforcement by spearing the poor officer’s head in half. From that point the fight can go one of two way, Either Jack will get into the car leaving Ethan at the mercy of a crazy driver in a small space. Or Ethan can find the keys to the car first and take the wheel himself, though Jack is more than ready to take him for a ride.
