VOICE OVER: Phoebe de Jeu WRITTEN BY: Seamus O’Bobben
It's been said that if a body is a journal, then the tattoos are the stories. For this list, we'll be looking at celebrities — with an emphasis on the hip hop realm — with the most plentiful, distinctive, or unique face tats. Our countdown includes Mike Tyson, Amber Rose, Lil Pump, and more!

#10: Gucci Mane

Ever since his very first album in 2005, this Atlanta-based rapper has made waves in the genre of trap music. Recognized as an influence on many rappers who came after him (including Young Thug and 21 Savage), Mane has done collaborations with many in the world of hip hop, including Drake and Lil Wayne. As popular as his music is, it has often been his face tattoos which have thrust him into the spotlight, particularly with a unique three-scoop ice-cream cone with the word “brrr” etched in. Apparently, it’s to signify that Mane lives his life “cool as ice.”

#9: Amber Rose

Known for her acting and modelling, this celeb from South Philadelphia wasn’t always in the spotlight. But after appearances in several high-profile music videos, a relationship with rapper Kanye West, and a couple gigs as a model, her fame has skyrocketed. Having appeared in a number of films and TV shows got Rose even more attention, including, of course, her stint as the host for “The Amber Rose Show.” But nothing has been quite as memorable in recent times as her decision to prominently ink the words “Bash” and “Slash” into her forehead. Her tattoos are in honour of her sons Sebastian Taylor Thomaz and Slash Electric Alexander Edwards.

#8: Lil Pump

Gazzy Garcia was born in Miami, Florida to Columbian parents and seemed to have a normal childhood until his raps began getting more and more popular on SoundCloud. Although his single “D Rose” got him noticed initially, it was the 2017 hit “Gucci Gang” that sent him zooming onto the Billboard Hot 100. Although he is beloved for his rhymes, it is his style sense that really sets Pump apart from the competition. With a host of facial tattoos that include numbers, aliens, eyes, rocket ships, stars, and so much more, it’s hard to find someone with so much variety in such a small area.

#7: Kat Von D

There isn’t much that this artistic celebrity hasn’t done. She’s been an author, a businesswoman, a model, an animal activist, and so much more. She’s even performed as a musician, most notably in her collaboration with the band Prayers. But it’s her work on the TV show “LA Ink” that set her apart as a tattoo artist to be respected. It only makes sense, then, that Von D herself would be decorated pretty much from head to toe. Although her face isn’t as covered as most of the other celebs on our list, she still makes a statement with a lightning bolt and multiple stars around her eyes.

#6: Lil Wayne

Although there’s something to be said for the tats that the American rapper Birdman sports on his face, we’re actually giving this spot to the rapper that he discovered when he was just a kid. Though his beginnings were humble (as the youngest member of the Cash Money Records label), Wayne has grown into one of the best-selling music artists, having sold over 100 million records around the globe. Although his voice is most certainly unique, it’s his abundance of facial tattoos that really make him recognizable, including flowers, teardrops, lightning strikes, and words like “misunderstood.” There’s even a set of tattoos that glow in the dark.

#5: Brent Hinds

If you’re a fan of metal, then you’ve undoubtedly heard of Mastodon, and if you know Mastodon, then there’s no doubt you appreciate this talented guitarist. Celebrated as one of the great modern guitar shredders, Hinds grew up listening to country and rock, and was part of several bands before finding his spot beside Mastodon members Brann Dailor (brawn daylurr), Troy Sanders, and Bill Kelliher (kell-ihhurr). Although appreciated by fans for his unique sound, Hinds may be best known for his face tattoo, one of a Polynesian-style headdress that he got in New Zealand which he claims that even his mother likes.

Discovered by JT the Bigga Figga, this American rapper born in Compton, California had a rough child, with different members of his family belonging to different gangs, including the Crips and the Bloods. However, he was determined to become a rapper, and Game eventually became one of the biggest names in West Coast Hip Hop. He has since acted in several films, won a few Ozone Awards, and was nominated for multiple Grammys and Billboard Music Awards. However, it’s his tattoos that have made him stand out even more. He has teardrops, a sideways number 8 in honour of basketball legend Kobe Bryant, and even an LA Dodgers logo.

#3: 6ix9ine (A.K.A Tekashi69)

He’s aggressive, outspoken, and controversial, and that’s just his public persona. Best known for his style of hardcore hip hop, he broke out in a big way with 2017’s “Gummo,” but has since gained even greater popularity with hits like 2018’s “Fefe” (which he recorded with Nicki Minaj). It would be hard to miss 6ix9ine if he walked past you in the street, what with his rainbow-coloured hair, teeth and collection of tattoos gracing every part of his body. (Of course, he is in prison as of 2020, so that is not a real possibility.) Most of the tattoos simply say 69, whether it be in written or numeric form, though a spiderweb, flowers, faces, and other images are also clearly visible on his face.

#2: Mike Tyson

Although the vast majority of the celebrities on our list have multiple tattoos on their faces, this legendary boxer is known for just one...but it’s all he needs to stand out. He has the distinction of being the youngest boxer ever to win a heavyweight title, and was one of the only boxers in history to regain his title after having lost it. He is still known as one of the most ferocious fighters in the history of boxing as well as one of its hardest hitters. Thanks to his tribal tattoo, which narrowly won out over the hearts he had planned to have tattooed on his face, his facial art is iconic. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. 21 Savage Lil Xan Travis Barker Rick Ross Migos

#1: Post Malone

Whether you’re a fan of his early hit singles like 2015’s “White Iverson” or his later ones like 2019’s “Circles,” there’s no doubt that you have seen Malone’s face tats grow and grow over time. Today, you’ll see the full range of playing cards, barbed wire, smiley faces, bunnies, hearts, and some pretty unique expressions, including the inimitable “always tired” under his eyes.
