VOICE OVER: Phoebe de Jeu WRITTEN BY: Tiffany Dai
As much as we love their music, these Blackpink fashion moments may be even more iconic. Our countdown includes visions in pink, leather corsets, feminine florals, and more!

#10: Visions in Pink “Show! Music Core” (2005-)

While it’s not uncommon to see the same fashion looks from music videos on the stage, this live performance of “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” puts a spin on outfit repetition. In this eye-catching, monochromatic ensemble, the girls appeared on the South Korean music television program in hot pink versions of outfits that didn’t receive as much screen time in the music video. While Lisa wears the original hot pink suit and Balenciaga boots from her rap verse scene, other members wore modified or similar looks from their own solo scenes. Jisoo’s white graphic tank dress and blouse from her verse even appear to be dyed to match the hot pink color scheme.

#9: Individual Looks “Good Morning America” (1975-)

Even though these outfits aren't necessarily geared towards a coordinated look, it's refreshing to see the group in their individual styles. Lisa and Rosé show off their love for edgy, trendy looks in a Balenciaga top, tomboyish Levi’s, and a 2009 Peggy Moffit x Comme des Garcons mini-dress respectively. With a taste for the classic and elegant, Jennie appears in a baby blue Chanel short suit and Jisoo in an Alexandre Vauthier dress. For their first appearance and performance in Times Square, New York, the girls definitely made themselves known as unique ambassadors of style.

#8: Black, White & Red “8th Melon Music Awards” (2016)

In this preppy and playful ensemble, Blackpink revealed their taste for designer pieces from brands such as Miu Miu, Gucci, and Alice Archer. This performance of “Playing with Fire” isn’t only memorable for being one of the group’s earliest public appearances. When Blackpink was still considered a rookie group in 2016, they snagged the Melon Music Award for Best New Artist only three months after their debut. The sophisticated blouses and blazers are accented with a handful of fun details, such as bows, collars, and fun splashes of red. To top off this color-coordinated look, each of the girls wear a bejeweled pair of dangling earrings.

#7: Black & White Monochrome “8th Gaon Chart Music Awards” (2019)

From an elegant red carpet appearance to an energetic, highly choreographed performance, this look proves that Blackpink’s style is fit for any occasion. The simple black and white color scheme allows for a wide range of embellishments, such as fringe, lace, ruffles, and bows. For the 8th Gaon Chart Music Awards, the group swept several awards beyond June’s Artist of the Year for “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du.” Jennie won November’s Artist of the Year for her debut single “Solo,” and received the Composer of the Year award for Blackpink’s producer Teddy Park. It’s no surprise that their stylist Choi Kyung Won even took home the Best Stylist award at the same show!

#6: Leather Corsets “SBS Gayo Daejeon” (1997-)

At the 2018 edition of this annual TV music festival, the girls turned heads on the red carpet, decked out in pieces from Alexander McQueen’s Resort 2019 Collection. Seemingly inspired by Victorian era corsetry and textures, these looks turned heads for their interesting silhouettes and extravagant price tag. The choice to style the entire group in pieces from a single collection is bold, especially when the ensembles cost about 30,000 dollars all together. Layered over feminine and flowy dresses, the structured leather corsets add a masculine touch to the look. It’s a fitting reflection of Blackpink’s name: soft and pretty, paired with a fierce edge.

#5: Glitter & Glam “SBS Gayo Daejeon” (1997-)

With over 200 million views, this video is the group’s most viewed stage performance on Youtube - as of writing at least. At Gayo Daejun 2018, Jennie performed her aptly-named debut single “Solo” while wearing a strapless tulle piece from Balmain’s Fall 2018 Ready to Wear collection. Balmain is central to this bold, bedazzled concept, as Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé suddenly appear onstage in glittering mini-dresses from the luxury label. During the brief dance break, Jennie even goes through a quick outfit change into an Alessandra Rich wool blazer, customized with crystals along the shoulders.

#4: Modern Hanbok “How You Like That” (2020)

This modern twist on Korean formalwear was first revealed in the music video of the group’s 2020 summer single “How You Like That.” The announcement that YG Entertainment’s Stylist Director has left the company in January sparked curiosity about the group’s fashion for their June comeback. With Jennie and Rosé wearing pieces from the sustainable hanbok designer Danha, the group drew global attention towards the varying and updated styles of traditional Korean fashion. The stylists altered the original clothing to fit the song’s fast-paced choreography, and even included a nod to Lisa’s Thai roots.

#3: Feminine Florals “6th Gaon Chart Music Awards” (2017)

In coordinated florals and fun footwear, the group appeared on the red carpet in pieces from luxury labels such as Gucci and Etro. These high end designs were also mixed with retail brands like Zara for Jennie’s look, and were even altered to miniskirt length. In this memorable appearance just a year after their debut, Blackpink blew fans away when they won numerous awards in a single night. Along with Rookie of the Year, the group received the prize for August’s Song of the Year for “Whistle” and November’s for “Playing with Fire”.

#2: Tactical Uniforms “Kill This Love” (2019)

We already know that Blackpink can pull off anything from flowing gowns to over-the-top glam. In the music video and live performances of “Kill This Love,” the group ventures into fashion inspired by military and tactical gear. From Jennie’s “Tomb Raider'' outfit to Rosé’s cropped Me Dic Al jacket, these outfits are memorable for their tough and edgy details. The combat boots, thigh holsters, and chest rigs in this look are a perfect match with the choreography, which mimics salutes and shotgun fires throughout the chorus. When it comes to trying out experimental fashion, Blackpink is definitely locked and loaded. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. School Uniforms “As If It’s Your Last” (2017) White & Sequins “The Late Late Show with James Corden” (2015-) Preppy Florals & Ruffles “SBS Gayo Daejeon” (1997-) White & Denim “Show! Music Core” (2005-)

#1: Coachella Looks Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (2019)

Performing outdoors in the desert with a live band, Blackpink continued their global takeover as they gained new fans at this annual music festival in California. This polished look sparkled on stage, with embellished fabrics and cropped silhouettes fit for the intense almost hour-long performance. Among many American celebrities at the festival, the group even met Will Smith, who they had actually performed for when they were still trainees. When they made history as the first female K-pop group to ever perform at Coachella, Blackpink certainly dressed the part for this legendary concert.
