E3 2019 brought a lot of exciting news and new games. So here are our picks for the best trailers from E3 2019.
“Ori and the Will of the Wisps” (2019)

As the first Microsoft exclusive that was shown off, the amount of immaculate detail thrown into the animation is breathtaking, as the framing makes incredible use of foreground and background layers to the point where it almost feels like a 3D image. From then on; It’s a non-stop montage of amazing creature designs, again; all with amazing attention to detail. If you have a 4K TV, watch this trailer on that, and you’ll get a true sense as to why Ori made this list.

“Microsoft Flight Simulator” (2020)

You don’t even have to be a fan of the genre to appreciate just how incredible this trailer was, especially if … again you have a 4K TV. The beautiful nature shots, combined with CG recreations of San Francisco, Dubai, Seattle and Giza; was nothing short of mind blowing. We could just see ourselves flying around this world for hours doing nothing.

“Astral Chain” (2010)

When it comes to hack & slash titles, PlatinumGames are some of the best in the industry. While we’ve seen this game before, this trailer gave us a greater look at what Astral Chain was all about in such a short timeframe. With their previous work from both Bayonetta & NieR Automata, it looks like Astral Chain will bring the best of both those worlds, combined with the bond of human and robotic allies known as “Legions” to create a combat system we’ve never really seen before. Take our money Platinum.

“Marvel's Avengers” A-Day Trailer

After years of anticipation Square Enix finally showed off their long awaited Avenger’s project featuring Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow and Hulk. With blink and you’ll miss them gameplay clips interspersed into the cut scenes, the setup to their title had us eager to find out more. What happened to San Francisco? Is Cap really dead? Who else will assemble with the Avengers?

“Luigi’s Mansion 3” (2019)

Starring a cheesy narrator in the vein of an old school kids horror show, this trailer did an amazing job of setting up everything we need to know. Not only does Luigi sport a unique set of new abilities, including an … interesting way to call on a co-op partner. But we also saw that each floor has different themes to explore and the Scare Scraper multiplayer mode from Dark Moon returns, now with 8 players. Who ya gonna call? The greatest gaming underdog!

“Halo Infinite” (TBA) Discover Hope – Trailer

A trailer that also doubled as a short film, grounded to an average guy trying to stay alive while there’s a galactic war going on outside. It was risky but 343 managed to pull it off. The subtle details of the guy’s beard growing over the passage of time only further elevates his despair and subsequent rejoice upon finding Master Chief. Most importantly the trailer does a great job setting up the events of Infinite by leaving us with the right about of questions. We’re ready to return to the fight.

“Cyberpunk 2077” (2020)

CD Projekt Red has brought nothing but their AAA game when it came to promoting Cyberpunk, and their latest trailer was no exception. Telling the story of a heist operation that went wrong, and becoming a wanted man by both the authorities and the city underbelly. The finale of the trailer also blew our minds with the reveal of Keanu Neo-Wicking Reeves, damn this game just keeps getting better and better.

“Doom Eternal” (2019)

While every other trailer has pretty much been focused on telling stories or explaining gameplay mechanics, Doom Eternal had one goal: Deliver pure badass action, and boy did it deliver. Not only was this 4-minute gun sling entertaining from start to finish, but our nostalgia went into overdrive with the return of classic monsters such as the Arachnotron’s and of course the OG Cyberdemon. Damn November can’t come soon enough.

“Ghostwire Tokyo” (TBA)

Bringing an amazing blend of classic Japanese horror to the urban metropolis of Tokyo, Shinji Mikami’s Ghostwire had us hooked from minute we heard about it, and it wasn’t just because of Ikumi Nakamura endearing introduction. (Though that was a highlight too) Similar to “Death Stranding” the trailer was very cryptic with the various clues making us rewatch the trailer again and again. Coming from the founder of Survival Horror games, we are eager to see where this one goes.

“Final Fantasy VII Remake” (2020)

We were all waiting with baited breath for this one, but we were NOT ready for just HOW good this was. Square Enix has spared no expense in fully realizing Midgar at its full potential and it shows. During the presentation, the company opted to show off the full Guard Scorpion boss fight in its entirety, a risky move but we we’re blown away with every second we saw. Top it all with reveals for Tifa and Sephiroth, and Final Fantasy VII gets our pick for E3 2019’s Best Trailer
