7 Things You Should Know About Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds
The crossover fighting franchise returns! Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be taking a look at Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.
Number 1: The Plot
After a decade of waiting, the biggest names from the Marvel Comic Book Universe will once again clash with Capcom’s best-known video game characters.
Featuring a cinematic story, the game is centered on Doctor Doom having assembled the greatest villains of the Marvel Universe, and joining forces with Albert Wesker from Resident Evil. Their plan is to merge their two universes together in order to conquer them both.
In the process, they inadvertently awaken a great evil that threatens to destroy everything. To stop this, the two worlds must unite to prevent their mutual destruction.
Number 2: Graphics
This is the first entry in the series to feature three-dimensional character models instead of 2D sprites. Despite this, the levels retain their traditional two-dimensional look and spatial limitations. The result is a game that takes the distinct look and feel of the legendary series, and merges it with the updated designs of current generation fighters.
Number 3: Gameplay
More fast-paced and strategic than ever before, the series now offers incredible three-on-three tag team battles that use the new "Evolved Vs. Fighting System." This introduces several new attack maneuvers to the series, including aerial and hyper combos.
But, before these three-on-three brawls can begin, the two opposing players must select their set of playable characters. During the fight, these characters can be swapped at any time with the simple click of a button.
Number 4: Controls
Abandoning its old, and overly complicated control scheme, the series is now more user friendly. Featuring a simplified, three-button control scheme, attacks are divided based on three categories. These include light, medium and hard hits. This change is expected to replace the series complicated controls scheme with a sense of intuitive and strategic combat.
In addition, a new “Exchange” button has been added. This multi-use button works to launch opponents into the air, swap characters while performing a combo, and slamming opponents into the ground.
Number 5: Characters
Featuring new and returning members of the Marvel vs. Capcom series, the game features over 40 characters, some of which will be later introduced as downloadable content.
Playable characters include Captain America, Chun-Li, Magneto, Spider-Man, Chris Redfield, Iron Man, Wolverine, Arthur, M.O.D.O.K, Viewtiful Joe, and the Hulk.
And many of the returning characters have distinct play style changes. These include the Hulk ‘s ability to perform steady air combos, Captain America's shield causing damage on its return after being thrown and Ryu firing his Hadouken at different angles.
Number 6: Game Modes
Featuring a "Simple Mode", players can easily perform combos and special moves. However, in this mode doing so will limit a character's available move-set.
Also included is "Mission Mode", which features character-specific challenges geared towards helping players explore the control scheme, while preparing them for play against other people.
Number 7: Fan Service and Multiplayer
Dialogue quips and mid-match events between the game's characters will reference past Capcom and Marvel storylines, all while hosting a multitude of character specific endings.
And as expected, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 includes online play for Microsoft's Xbox Live and Sony's PlayStation Network services.
When entering the online arena, both players can view their opponent's "License Card". These keep track of player tendencies based on their fighting style; and is determined by five categories which include: stability, basic offense, basic defense, advanced offense, and advanced defence. Cards also record player points and total number of wins and losses, and allow players to see the positive and negative points of their play styles.
Conclusion:
Centered on delivering unequaled fan-service and extreme tournament-style combat, the battle between Marvel and Capcom has never before been this epic or intense.
