Top 10 Good Mythical Morning Episodes

We’ll be taking a look at the Good Mythical Morning videos that stick in our memories – and make us laugh – the most. Our list is based on personal preference, votes from our users and number of views on each video.

#10: Best TV Theme Song Ever?

This episode starts off simple enough: with hosts Rhett and Link going over the most popular of TV theme songs, as voted by their viewers. Their thoughtful commentary and charming remarks about each theme are certainly pleasant, though it’s the reveal of the most popular theme that stands out. Between the duo’s singing and Rhett’s invention of a theme song, there are more than a few laughs to be had. We couldn’t help but chuckle at all the nostalgia this video raised... and the weird ideas it conjured.

#9: 8 Weird Ways To Open A Bottle

You can open a bottle like that? All right, then. Rhett and Link take on the simple task of opening many, many orange soda bottles in unconventional ways. The increasingly odd methods involve the use of the back of a fork, a carabiner, a toothbrush... and another bottle. It’s amazing watching these two take a basic task into wacky territory. Each of the eight methods shown is entertaining, based on their weirdness and Rhett and Link’s respective reactions. Though we have to ask: what’s going to happen to all that soda?

#8: The Most Amazing Optical Illusions on the Internet

The Internet can be a fascinating and terrifying place, if we’re being honest. Filled to the brim with sights unlike anything else in the world, it seems like the optimal source of fodder for videos. Thus we have The Most Amazing Optical Illusions on the Internet, in which Good Mythical Morning’s hosts look over the optical illusions that most fascinate them. With Link having divided the gathered images into two distinct groups, he and Rhett discuss each in turn. Their interpretations of the assorted photos – ranging from quirky to outright abstract – offer a mix of insight and amusing asides.

#7: Will it shoe?

Forget shoes, they’re boring. What people really want are fun, potentially awkward alternatives. In their twelfth “Will It?” episode, Rhett and Link opted to investigate what substances could be substituted for traditional footwear. This translates into a series of trial-and-error experiments, as the duo goes from LEGO slippers, to cooked meatloaf loafers, to butter churns. What really sets this apart, though, is the embrace of the absurd... right down to certain wrecked “shoes” being eaten. Plus, it’s hard to top a man churning cream into butter through sheer foot power.

#6: Locked in a Sensory Deprivation Tank

Ever been curious about what being without your senses for an hour does to you? Well, here’s the video you’ve been waiting for. For this episode, Rhett and Link elected to spend about an hour each in a sensory deprivation tank, akin to those used by NASA. While we don’t get to witness each host’s experience within the tank itself, their reactions after the fact more than make up for it; Rhett’s surprising calmness is disconcerting, while Link experiences some spontaneous laughing. There’s almost a psychedelic feeling to this video, as though the two men have an out-of-body experience. It’s definitely intriguing.

#5: Will It Ice Cream Sandwich? - Taste Test

There are certainly plenty of things that go well with ice cream, but we’d never have thought to take the concept to this extreme. Nevertheless, here we have “Will It Ice Cream Sandwich,” Good Mythical Morning’s video dedicated to finding out what can be made into an ice cream sandwich. Part of the fun here is seeing what the team developed in terms of food combinations... and some non-food ideas, for good measure. It’s a healthy mix of expected results and surprising moments that’s entertaining to watch unfold.

#4: Making Real Food w/ Play-Doh Toys

Kids, don’t try this at home. But feel free to watch and enjoy to your heart’s content. Rhett and Link’s idea in this video was simple enough: convert foods into a dough, then shape them into food-like objects with Play-Doh Toys. What we get is a video built on youthful creativity, as the two use the resources on hand to develop meals resembling real food. And the payoff of seeing two grown men consume each other’s creations is priceless. As their 568th episode, it’s a magnificent example of their wonder and daring in action.

#3: Extreme Ice Bath Challenge

Intrigued by the prospect of ice baths, Rhett and Link took on an eight-minute challenge of sitting in ice-filled tubs themselves. Everything from their pre-emptive fear, to their entry into the chilled water, to their descent into shivering despair is worth the price of admission. Then we get the additional treat of the duo upping the ante with other cold-themed surprises – some more welcome than others. The fact that hilarity ensues goes without saying, but man is it fun to watch these two gentlemen take on extreme odds.

#2: Will It Deep Fry? - Taste Test

Another entry into the “Will It” series, this episode delves into the realm of deep-fried food – addressing the question of what precisely can be deep-fried and still be edible. Good Mythical Morning explores this question with its patented blend of ingenuity and determination... meaning batter-covered bean balls, deep-fried fat, and other unique culinary treats. It helps that both hosts have an obvious enthusiasm for deep-frying, making every success more rewarding. Of course, there are also a few creations that would probably be best left unexplored.

Before we get to the #1 Good Mythical Morning Episode, here are a few honorable mentions:

- Eating a Scorpion – Bug War Challenge

- 6 Unbelievable Body Modifications

- Will It Pumpkin Spice? - Taste Test

- Upside Down Glasses Challenge

- “NeverWet” Our Pants

- Will It Cereal? - Taste Test

#1: World’s Hottest Pepper Challenge

Due to a sincere fan request, Rhett and Link each undertook the challenge of consuming the Carolina Reaper, the hottest pepper on the planet. Their willingness to take on this dare for the sake of their viewers is great enough as is; what takes this video to another level, and ultimately makes it our favorite is that we get to witness 10 minutes of the duo’s drawn-out reactions. What’s particularly notable is how diverse their coping mechanisms become, to the very end. This is an episode driven by personality, humor, and the human will to survive – naturally.
