The player controls and behavior of Trico show that this game's mechanics are outdated; broken physics, a lack of audio/visual feedback and no progressive curve when it comes to Trico's behavior can make this a frustrating guessing game throughout when it's supposed to be beautiful, sobering journey of understanding one another

Bullet-sponging enemies with little variance in combat behavior, pointless elemental/vunerability mechanics, frequent gear-checking missions, and a loot system that provides marginal stat increases while constantly forcing you to stop in a shooter all about quick thinking and reflexes; it all just bogs the game to a crawl when it shouldn't have
