This can be especially annoying in cases where players need to go somewhere in the game and you have an annoyingly high level player take out everyone who gets near him thereby making the game difficult or impossible to win.

Commonly done by players who don't like to lose, once you get ahead of them, they deliberately stop trying to win and instead make a forefiet play. It takes all the fun out of the competition.

A true champion plays WITH the team. Doing otherwise tends to confuse the other player since you don't give them anything to do or will go after what you're going after leving you unable to do anyting and often open to attacks.

Prominent in MMOs that forget to put restrictions on how low a level characters can attack. Infamous for this was the Player v. Player in DC Universe Online where higher level players would camp outside spawning points for enemy players and attack lower-level players (who stood no chance) endlessly.
