Where to Stream The Best Holiday Movies

Where to Stream The Best Holiday Movies
VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton WRITTEN BY: Val Namaki
Here's where to stream the best holiday movies. For this list, we'll be looking at the streaming services that'll satisfy your festive film needs this winter. Our countdown includes Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max, and more!

Paramount+

What do “A Fairly Odd Christmas”, “How the Toys Saved Christmas”, “In Search of Santa”, and “Happy Christmas” have in common? Granted, they’re all films set during the holiday season. And yes, they’ll bring you plenty of joy and laughter. But we’re referring to the fact that you can stream each of these movies on the one and only Paramount Plus! It’s pretty easy to lose sight of which streamers are actually worth our time, especially as the industry continues to expand. But this service’s impressive holiday selection proves that it’s definitely worth the hype.

Apple TV+

Apple TV+’s selection is short, but definitely sweet. Notably, you can pay a visit to the always memorable Peanuts crew in "A Charlie Brown Christmas", as they attempt to figure out what the holiday season is really all about. Plus, we all know that the queen of the season is the inimitable Mariah Carey. And her 2020 holiday special - where she quite literally saves Christmas - is also available to stream. Plus, we have the upcoming musical film "Spirited", which will feature Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell and Octavia Spencer, to look forward to. While there’s currently no word on a potential release date, we’re sure it’ll be worth the wait.

Prime Video

We all know that Amazon does a lot more than just deliver packages to our doorstep. One of the company’s best ventures has to be their streaming service. Prime Video has no shortage of choices for viewers to pick from in ordinary times. Luckily, they deliver during the holidays as well. To be fair, you’ll have access to a much bigger selection of titles if you’re willing to shell out a few bucks for certain films. And those with separate channel subscriptions get extra options too. Nevertheless, with titles including “Last Holiday”, “It’s a Wonderful Life”, and “Love Actually”, you’re guaranteed to find something - even if it costs a little extra!

This powerhouse streamer’s media library continuously breaks ground. But they also have some timeless classics that’ll keep you feeling warm and jolly this holiday season. You can go back in time with the 1994 remake of “Miracle on 34th Street”. Or you can follow along as Ralphie desperately tries to get his dream present in the 1983 family film “A Christmas Story”. Conversely, there’s “Gremlins” for those who want a scarier take on the most wonderful time of the year. And if you’re like us, you watch Buddy try to make it amongst other humans in “Elf” at least once a year. Luckily, HBO Max has that fan-favorite movie ready to stream as well!

Hulu

Hulu has cemented itself as one of the best streamers out there, and for good reason. The service’s content is always on point, and their holiday selection is no exception. You’ll find a grade-A collection of films that’ll satisfy even the most particular Christmas movie aficionado. Of course, we all still remember the release of “Happiest Season” in 2020. And that’s not the only festive flick available on Hulu. Some other picks include, but certainly aren’t limited to, “Christmas with the Kranks”,“The Mistle-Tones”, “The Holiday”, and “Christmas on Holly Lane”! So grab your coziest sweater, and have a merry time.

They’ve really embraced the Yuletide spirit this year, with numerous movies that are sure to get you feeling festive. From Nina Dobrev's "Love Hard", to Vanessa Hudgens' "The Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star", there's a little something for everyone. And that's just a tiny fraction of the films available. There’s also titles like "A Boy Called Christmas" and "A Castle For Christmas", to name a few. So whether you're in the mood for a classic holiday rom-com or a feel-good seasonal family flick, Netflix has you covered.

When we think of Christmastime, we often picture a fireplace burning, some hot cocoa, and wholesome family fun. There's arguably no streaming service that captures the essence of the holiday season better than Disney+. You can start by gradually leaving Halloween behind with Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas". Then, join Mickey and his friends in "Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas", and "Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas". Of course, no holiday film list would be complete without some version of "A Christmas Carol". Disney+ offers an epic muppet interpretation, amongst others. Lastly, revisit the nostalgic "Home Alone" movies before checking out “Home Sweet Home Alone”, the newest take on the story. Needless to say, there's no shortage of options here.
