Grab some celebratory cigars and stock up on junk food, because the Arrowverse family just got a little bit bigger. Welcome to “Watch the Arrowverse,” the weekly show where we take a look at some of the Easter eggs, important moments, and theories from all of CW's DCTV superhero shows. On this episode, we'll be looking at week 4 of “Supergirl”, “The Flash”, “Legends of Tomorrow” and “Arrow.” As we'll be discussing the heroic details from all of those shows, we're putting up the spoiler signal.

#5: Legion of Superheroes
“Supergirl” (2015-)
The mysterious ship we saw in this week’s episode may be from the future - namely, the 30th century. When the ship was revealed, we saw at least one passenger waking up and a symbol that looks like a lot like Interlac. In the comics, Interlac is the "intergalactic universal language of the 30th century" which played a big role in the pages of “Legion of Super-Heroes.” The legion is a group of heroes created to fight threats in the 30th century, and their roster has included futuristic heroes like Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy. However, they’ve been known to time travel to add members, namely Supergirl. Actress Amy Jackson has recently been cast as Saturn Girl. Was that her hand we saw on the ship?
#4: Machete Returns
“The Flash” (2014-)
Some dads are a little more protective than others. When Cisco meets his girlfriend Gypsy’s father, Josh, ahem, Breacher, things go from awkward to dangerous. After a bad coffee conversation, Breacher decides to hunt Mr. Ramon for 24 hours. While searching for a way to defend himself, Cisco pulls out a machete. But the weapon was far from a random choice. Breacher is played by Danny Trejo, who starred in the comically ultraviolent “Machete” and its ridiculous sequel “Machete Kills” as the lead character...Machete. Okay, so the machete isn’t exactly a subtle shout out, but it’s still a hilarious Easter egg.
#3: An 80s Love Letter
"Legends of Tomorrow" (2016-)
This week’s trip to the 80’s brought nostalgia and a ton of movie references. The episode’s main plot about a young Ray taking care of an alien is an unmistakable homage to “E.T”., right down to the junk food cravings. When the alien’s mother tricks Nate, Amaya treats us to a classic line from “Aliens”. Speaking of Nate, an earlier scene shows him in a tracksuit admiring a DeLorean. The car and the outfit are a near identical match to the time travel classic “Back the Future”. With the episode so jam-packed with 80’s callbacks, we wouldn’t be surprised to find even more references in future viewings.
#2: A 2-For-1 Hero
“The Flash” (2014-)
The live action Ralph Dibny is based on not one, but two stretchy heroes. This version of Dibny shares his name with Elongated Man. Elongated Man is known for his great detective skills, stretching powers and ability to smell a mystery. Although the Dibny we meet is a detective with elastic powers, his personality seems closer to Plastic Man. Plastic Man was a thief named Patrick O’Brien. He gained rubbery abilities during a botched robbery at a chemical plant. Despite being a definite creep, Plastic Man managed to become an important member of the Justice League. It’s unclear which alias this new Dibny will take, but we think he’s flexible enough to be either hero.
Here are some of the best lines from this week’s episodes:
“That’s how you raise a girl to be a badass”
“Your assistant's a speedster?”
“I’m going to go brush my teeth forever.”
#1: Team Arrow vs. the Joker...Kind of
"Arrow" (2012-)
The shadowy man who saved Black Siren’s life was revealed to be the dangerous hacker Cayden James. His eerie calm and intelligence is perfectly portrayed by Michael Emerson. You probably recognize the actor from “Lost”, but may have missed his previous DC role. In the early 2010’s, Emerson voiced the Joker in “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns” Parts 1 and 2. His take on an older version of the clown prince of crime was unsettling, menacing and terrifying. Emerson is already starting to bring those traits to Cayden James. If he keeps this up, he may end up creating another iconic villain.
