Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 5 Things Justice League Changed in the DCEU. For this list, we’re taking a look at the major events in “Justice League” that change the course of the DC Extended Universe. In case you haven’t seen the film yet, keep in mind this list is one big spoiler. #5: Superman Returns Even if you’re not familiar with “The Death of Superman” story arc, we all figured that the Man of Steel wouldn’t stay buried for long. Not only was his return hinted at towards the end of “Batman v Superman,” but this clip from the trailer also made it pretty clear. In “Justice League,” our heroes use a Mother Box to resurrect Superman, who brings a whole new definition to the phrase, “rude awakening.” Although he clashes with the others at first, Lois Lane manages to calm Supes down and jog his memory. After that, it isn’t long until he joins in the fight against Steppenwolf. Just one question remains: Superman or the Flash, who’s faster? #4: Atlantis While he was only onscreen for a few seconds in “Batman v Superman,” Aquaman plays a much more significant role in “Justice League.” Arthur Curry is initially reluctant to join forces with Bruce Wayne, although he gets on board after Steppenwolf steals a Mother Box from Atlantis. It was great to finally see the underwater kingdom make its DCEU debut, even if our time there was fleeting. Willem Dafoe’s Dr. Vulko, Atlantis’ chief scientist and Aquaman’s mentor, was supposed to pop up as well, but his appearance didn’t make it into the theatrical cut. With James Wan’s standalone “Aquaman” film hitting theaters in 2018, it’s safe to say that we’ve merely scratched the surface on Atlantis #3: Mother Boxes First appearing in Jack Kirby’s “Forever People” storyline in 1971, the Mother Boxes are living computers from the planet New Genesis. These devices were briefly alluded to in “Batman v Superman” and played an integral part in “Justice League.” After Steppenwolf failed to conquer Earth eons ago, the boxes were hidden in separate locations. When Steppenwolf returns for round two years later, he manages to reclaim the boxes in Themyscira and Atlantis. Following Superman’s resurrection, Steppenwolf snatches the final box from our heroes. Just as he brings the three boxes together, though, the League officially unites to save the day. Given their extraordinary powers, Steppenwolf probably isn’t the only baddie who wants to get his hands on the boxes. #2: Green Lantern Corps While we’re on the subject of Steppenwolf, his presence likely means Darkseid isn’t too far behind, even if he didn’t appear in this movie. One DC icon that did make an appearance, however, was Green Lantern… well okay, it wasn’t Hal Jordan or John Stewart, but we definitely got a glimpse of the Green Lantern Corps in the ancient battle against Steppenwolf. Taking on an army of Parademons, a couple Green Lanterns can be spotted conjuring up massive firsts and hammers. One particular Green Lantern loses his life in combat, causing his power ring to take off and choose a new wielder. Perhaps we’ll find out where exactly it went in 2020’s “Green Lantern Corps.” #1: Injustice For All With Steppenwolf’s defeat, Batman and Wonder Woman decide to renovate Wayne Manor, which will act as a headquarters of sorts for their new team. The rebuilt manor shares a noticeable resemblance to the Hall of Justice, although we’re still waiting to see the Watchtower. The Justice League isn’t the only team that’s uniting either. In a post-credits scene, the recently escaped Lex Luthor meets up with Deathstroke, played by Joe Manganiello. Luthor suggests that they start a league of their own, which can only mean we’ll be seeing the Legion of Doom, the Injustice League, or some sort of supervillain team in the foreseeable future.
