VOICE OVER: Lisa Yang
Do you have thousands of dollars lying around? Why not spend it on a luxurious gold mask by Orogold, some caviar foundation by La Prairie, or a 28-day facial treatment by Guerlain? We're not saying that these aren't worth it, but we're not sure because we can't afford it.

#5: La Prairie Skin Caviar Concealer Foundation At $215, this foundation is actually the most affordable item on our list. But as far as foundations go... it’s still pretty insane. We get it; foundation is an important step in your beauty routine to ensure your face is a perfect blank canvas for the rest of your makeup. But considering how many great foundations there are out there that cost a fraction of the price, we can’t really imagine what sort of magic results this delivers that could possibly justify the cost. It is a foundation and concealer which, when you really think about it... STILL doesn’t account for the exorbitant price tag.

#4: La Prairie Platinum Rare Cellular Cream

Top 10 Ridiculously Expensive Substances on Earth

La Prairie is at it again, this time with a night cream that will set you back over $1000. If you’re thinking that sounds more like your monthly rent, you’re not alone, but hey, something tells us they aren’t aiming for mass appeal with this one. The product is marketed as using platinum, “the most precious metal on earth” to improve hydration and “receptivity to nutrients”– whatever that means. We’re into the idea of platinum for engagement rings, but it seems pretty doubtful that it’s essential to your skincare routine. If you can afford a cream like this… you should still probably spend your money elsewhere.

#3: Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Treatment

At almost $2000, you’re probably thinking that this product will at least last you a long time. Nope! It’s a 28-day treatment. During that time, it claims it will “accelerate the renewal cycle of your skin” in addition to reducing wrinkles. Guerlain has coined the term “New-Generation Imperial Orchid Molecular Extract”, or IOME, to describe their supposed wonder substance. The idea is that orchids, with their age-defying properties, will magically roll back the clock when properly applied to the face. Sadly, we’re guessing that buying an orchid at the grocery store won’t achieve the same effect. The directions for use from Guerlain involve gems like: “Tap randomly and energetically all over the face with your fingertips.”

#2: Orogold 24K Cleopatra Nano Regimen

Do you have $8000 kicking around? Great! Rather than wasting your money on something permanent like gold jewelry, why not buy some gold to put directly on your face? Because everyone wants to see their hard earned cash go right down the drain. This regimen comes with 32 gold sheets, a nano serum and a silk cream - all of which are supposed to make you feel like an Egyptian queen. No matter what ingredients this contains, it seems likely that you’re paying for a concept more than an actual product. If you want a more affordable option, at $3300 you can try the Adore Cosmetics Golden Touch 24K Techno-Dermis Facial Mask.

#1: Azature Black Diamond Nail Polish

Way ahead of the competition is the ultra luxurious Azature Black Diamond Nail Polish, a beauty product which easily secures our number one spot with its jaw-dropping price of $250,000. At a quarter of a million dollars, only one bottle of the stuff was produced. But contained within are 267-carats of real black diamonds to make your nails look like the sparkling night sky. Azature seems to realize that one offs aren’t that profitable however, and so they’ve created a “budget” version that sells for one ten thousandth of the price - $25. How does it compare to its namesake? Not sure… we can’t afford it. Do you agree with our list? Would you ever buy one of these beauty products?
