The product is marketed as using platinum, “the most precious metal on earth” to improve hydration and “receptivity to nutrients”– whatever that means. We’re into the idea of platinum for engagement rings, but it seems pretty doubtful that it’s essential to your skincare routine. If you can afford a cream like this… you should still probably spend your money elsewhere.
#3: Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Treatment
At almost $2000, you’re probably thinking that this product will at least last you a long time. Nope! It’s a 28-day treatment. During that time, it claims it will “accelerate the renewal cycle of your skin” in addition to reducing wrinkles. Guerlain has coined the term “New-Generation Imperial Orchid Molecular Extract”, or IOME, to describe their supposed wonder substance. The idea is that orchids, with their age-defying properties, will magically roll back the clock when properly applied to the face. Sadly, we’re guessing that buying an orchid at the grocery store won’t achieve the same effect. The directions for use from Guerlain involve gems like: “Tap randomly and energetically all over the face with your fingertips.”
