What category of Let's Play videos should we countdown next?

Big ups to the creators of the videos featured this week: Kwebbelkop, NoahJ456, Hazardous, TheIvaneh, and Vanoss Gaming

Welcome to Watchmojo’s Let’s Play Countdown, where we count down our Let’s Play videos in a specific category. Today we’re looking at the wild and crazy world of GTA 5 stunts - so strap in, it’s gonna get dangerous. For this list, we’re restricting ourselves to one video per-channel, since some channels really dominate the YouTube scene when it comes to GTA 5 videos. Also, the videos in question have to have some form of vocal commentary to qualify, which means that we won’t be seeing some great stunters like Black Smoke Billy and Domestic Mango who don’t narrate their play. Enjoy!

#5: GTA 5 Xbox One - Insane First Person Stunt Races (GTA 5 Funny Moments)

Channel: Kwebbelkop If you haven’t already done so due to that initial soundbite, it may be time for you to turn your volume down a smidge - at least until this entry is over. Let’s Play’s clips are known for their high volume commentary, and I can’t think of a better example than Kwebbelkop and the rest of Team Robust - a fact that even he seems to be aware of.* That’s not to say the screaming isn’t exactly warranted. In this video, Kwebbelkop & co. are playing a custom set of bicycle races in first person - which sounds relatively tame, until you realize why they’re calling these “stunt” races. As if that wasn’t dangerous enough - not that anyone’s really at risk - half-way through the video they up the ante and switch from regular bikes to motorcycles. The sense of verticality and scale in this video is definitely heightened by the first person perspective, so I guess I can’t recommend this to anyone with either a severe fear of heights...or sensitive ears of course. Funnily enough, this whole thing turns GTA into more of a platformer than a racing game, as making the jumps accurately soon becomes a lot more important than being speedy. One thing you’ll notice is that all of the potential “downtime” has been edited out of this clip, so if this particular type of insanity is your bag, this video is as pure a dose as you can get. I also personally get a kick out of the fact that they clearly shot this right after GTA 5 was released for the Next Gen consoles, since you can hear em’ drooling over how much better it looks now.

#4: GTA 5 PC Mods - MEGA RAMP STUNTS MOD

Channel: NoahJ456 Up next we have another video that experiments with mods and big air, but this one definitely distills the experience down to its baser elements: a selection of crazy vehicles and a big friggin ramp. Let the games begin! The premise here is pretty simple, using the ramp mod created by “erfet”, which by the way, you can download from a link in the video’s description, Noah sets a pretty simple goal for himself: get to that body of water “over there”. He then proceeds to attempt this challenge with an highly unusual assortment of vehicles that he spawns for himself. Ahhh, mods are fun eh? As you can expect, some vehicles work better than others. Man that attempt with the green plane did not end well… But that doesn’t stop him from trying again (white plane)...and again (red biplane) and again (jet). Some of his best attempts come from the silliest of vehicles. I really thought he was gonna make it with the cow-mount that time… By the way, that sound you hear is the turbo boost mod he’s using - which also makes for some ...interesting visuals. As completely ridiculous as the whole idea is, the simple concept actually makes this into a relatively engaging video. It doesn’t take long for you to start rooting for Noah to make a successful jump.

#3: BEST GTA 5 STUNTS & FAILS COMPILATION!

Top 5 DayZ Playthroughs - Let's Play Countdown

Channel: Hazardous If these videos prove anything, it’s that a stunt might be more impressive when it’s successful, but it’s more fun when it isn’t. Here to help emphasize that point is Hazardous from Sweden, with his compilation of stunts and - of course - fails. What’s most enjoyable about this video is the running commentary by Hazardous himself. His bouts of “yes yes yes” right before impact emphasize the effort behind each attempt, and make it all the funnier when the inevitable failure occurs. Actually, by the end of the video, you’re definitely no longer hoping he succeeds. And, as ignorant as it may sound, his accent makes the deadpan delivery all the more funny. While at first the disjointed editing style feels distracting and kind of all over the place, after a minute or two you realize that it actually supports the punchlines of a lot of these stunts. The music, the little movie clips and, of course, the understated reactions from the host all become welcome additions - especially considering how crazy other hosts have to get to generate laughs and likes. That ‘cold’ ending does come outta nowhere though...

#2: GTA 5: Online - Sick Cargo Plane Stunts & BUSTED!

Also in:

Top 5 I Am Bread Videos - Let's Play Countdown

Channel: TheIvaneh This video starts with one probably the purest stunt we’ll see today: a mid air transfer of a car from one plane to another. Top THAT Vin Diesel. Anyway, from there, after another stunt involving a bunch of players getting dumped out of a plane, the video transitions into a “Busted” match. This is sorta like Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit - or cops and robbers, I guess. One player is the crook, and a very large number of other players are the cops who must catch said crook. Simple concept, hilarious results. The fun here comes from the fact that it seems to be quite difficult to get a runaway car to stop, despite the fact that there are a TON of other vehicles in pursuit. Basically, the whole thing ends up looking like one of those giant pileups from Blues Brothers. While this is obviously uncut and a little disorganized, the overlapping banter of the players really makes the whole thing seem like a lot of chaotic fun - enough to make you want to join in. Of course, a clip like this wouldn’t be complete without an explosive finale, and much as it did for the first crash of the video, the chopper arrives at the end to deliver in that regard.

#1: GTA 5 Online Funny Moments - Golf Cart Chase, Motorcycle Stunt Noobs, Miniladd Denied

Channel: Vanoss Gaming If there’s one aspect of the Let’s Play community that’s been slightly underrepresented in this countdown, it’s the general “randomness” that makes up the bulk of the humor in the genre. Well, never fear, cause the guys at Vanoss gaming are here. Rather than load up a disruptive mod, or spend time setting up for an epic jump, this clip takes a more organic (and goofy) approach to stunts. What makes this video so great is the mix of off the cuff commentary from the host, and the breakneck pacing of the editing. That randomness I mentioned before comes thick and fast for the full 10 minute run of this clip. The guys do add in a few sound effects of their own though...see if you can spot them. So, after what can only be described as a golf cart rampage, the guys discover that a certain model of sports car can be used as a ramp. The operative word here is “can” though, as after pulling off a good jump the first time, they struggle to replicate their initial success. Despite their ramp troubles though, I do have to give them credit for their mastery of in-game emotes...one in particular, really. The end of the clip is mostly focused around trying to drive up to the top of the distinctive Sightings Bar & Restaurant. Vanoss manages to complete the stunt early on... And, of course, trolls the rest of the guys as they try to do the same. Anyway, it’s this mix of quick cuts and explosive hilarity, literally, which makes Vanoss such a popular channel in general - and an easy pick for our #1 spot today. That’s it for today’s countdown!
