#10: David Bowie’s Hair

Top 10 Reasons We Love David Harbour

Let’s be honest here – anything coming from David Bowie will sell. Including, apparently, his hair. An approximately two-inch long snippet of Bowie’s hair was sold through the Beverly Hills based auction house Heritage Auctions for just over $18,000 in June of 2016. The hair – which dates back to the singer's “Let's Dance” era – came from a wig mistress working at London’s Madame Tussauds wax museum, who was using it to replicate his hair for a wax statue. Being a fan, she then kept the locks as a souvenir before eventually putting it under the hammer.

#9: Justin Bieber’s Boa Constrictor

Top 10 WTF Justin Bieber Moments

In 2011, Justin Bieber sold Johnson, his pet boa constrictor, on the auction site CharityBuzz, where the snake went for over $2,000. The proceeds of the sale went to Pencils of Promise, a non-profit dedicated to building schools around the world. However, the winner of the auction, a man named Michael Kronick, was none too happy with Bieber, finding it distasteful that the singer seemingly bought the creature as a fashion accessory, only to lose interest and abandon it. Kronick, for his part, donated Johnson to the Reptile & Amphibian Discovery Zoo in Owatonna, Minnesota.

#8: Justin Timberlake’s Half-Eaten French Toast

Apparently, half-eaten food is a hot commodity on the internet. Niall Horan’s uneaten vegemite toast went for an astounding $100,000 on eBay, and Justin Timberlake’s half-eaten French toast went for just over $1,000. The uneaten toast came from Timberlake’s breakfast interview at New York’s Z-100. The station’s DJ noticed the uneaten toast and put it up on eBay, where a student named Kathy Summers snagged it for $1,025. According to Summers, she plans on freeze drying the toast, sealing it, and putting it on display on her dresser.

#7: William Shatner’s Kidney Stone

Ever have a kidney stone? Well, William Shatner did, and he was pretty proud of it, claiming it was so big “you’d want to wear it on your finger” and that “if you subjected it to extreme heat, it might turn out to be a diamond.” Shatner sold the stone through Julien’s Auctions, who sold it to GoldenPalace.com, an online casino known for their collection of odd items, for a stately $25,000. The Shat didn't pocket his crystalline cash, though. Instead, the stone's haul went on to Habitat for Humanity and their efforts to build homes for the disadvantaged.

#6: Britney Spears’s Pregnancy Test

If it’s not her gum, it’s her pregnancy tests. A radio station based out of Ottawa, Ontario somehow found themselves with Britney Spears’s alleged pregnancy test after a “connection” retrieved it from an LA hotel where Britney and then husband Kevin Federline had stayed. The station refused to make their find public until Spears confirmed that she was indeed pregnant, in order to seemingly verify it’s authenticity. While there was no concrete proof that the test belonged to Spears, the radio station nevertheless auctioned off the used piss-stick through their website, selling it to – yep – GoldenPalace.com up for a hefty $5,001.

#5: John Lennon’s Tooth

Top 20 Times Emily Blunt & John Krasinski Made Us Believe in Love

Imagine being so popular that even your teeth sell for an exorbitant amount of money. According to the auction notes, in the mid 1960s John Lennon lost a molar, and offered it to his housekeeper as her daughter was a big Beatles fan and John recognized it as a unique collectible. In 2011, the housekeeper – Dot Jarlett – put the tooth up for auction were it was expected to sell for $16,000. Instead, it raised $31,000 when a Canadian dentist bought the snarky tooth. Although assumed to belong to Lennon, the fragile state of the tooth meant it couldn't be confirmed via DNA testing.

#4: Scarlett Johansson’s Tissue

Some people will buy anything. In 2008, Scarlett Johansson appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” to promote her movie “The Spirit”, and told Leno she had caught his cold. After joking that the cold might have value, she blew her nose, put the tissue in a bag, signed the lot and threw it up on eBay where it eventually sold for $5,300... which is nothing to sneeze at. The funds, in turn, went on to USA Harvest – a hunger charity and ScarJo's charity of choice.

#3: Russell Crowe’s Jock Strap

To mark the end of his marriage, Russell Crowe hosted an event called “The Art of Divorce” in which he auctioned off various personal items he no longer needed. One of the underused trinkets was the leather jock strap he used for “Cinderella Man.” Crowe had initially put the item up as a joke, but it quickly generated interest and became one of the event’s most popular items. It was then sold for $7,000 to someone who turned out to be John Oliver, who used HBO’s money to purchase the jock strap and donated it to an Alaskan Blockbuster store.

#2: Elvis Presley’s Soiled Underwear

Okay, now this is just getting ridiculous. Elvis Presley’s soiled – again, soiled – underwear went up for auction by Omega Auctions in 2012. Elvis allegedly wore the grippies in question at a 1977 show, and apparently never got around to washing them before he died in August of that year. The auction house hoped to part ways with the briefs for around $16,000, but bidding topped out at around $6,600 – some $3,000 short of the reserve price. While they weren't able to shift the King's drawers, his bible – complete with handwritten notes – sold for around $94,000.

#1: Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie’s Breath

This story is just mindblowing on so many levels. Someone in attendance at the “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” premiere scooped up the air that Pitt and Jolie recently walked through and “bottled” it in a Mason jar. The jar then went up on eBay with the best statement of all time, which read, “Be the first to own this jar of celebrity air, which may contain air molecules that came in direct contact with Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt!” The Mason jar full of potential celebrity breath went up for $9.99, but it quickly gained traction and reached an astounding $75,000. For... a jar. And... air.
