Top 10 Times Anime Villains Flexed On The Hero

Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 10 Times Anime Villains Stopped Holding Back. For this list, we’re looking over the scenes where antagonists in anime cut loose and displayed their true power, often with destructive results. Did we miss any major villain power-ups? Let us know in the comments!

#10: Yujiro’s Demon Face

“Baki” (2018-20) Given how he’s already the strongest creature to ever exist, Yujiro doesn’t need much in the way of power ups. Most of the time he can finish his foes with a single blow to the face, the results of which are often extremely messy. However, when faced with an enemy that truly tests him, as in the case of the ancient martial artist Kaioh Kaku, he needs to push himself a little. Forcing the muscles on his back in such a way to create the visage of a demon, whenever a foe sees this, it usually means that Yujiro is about to break them in half.

#9: Baran’s Dragonoid Form

“Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai” (2020-) Given his mastery of the Dragon Crest, the Commander of the Dragon Legion was already a force of nature. The man erased Dai’s memories on their first encounter and wrecked his crew with a mini-lightning storm like it was nothing. That would usually be enough, but when reminded of his hatred for humanity on account of what they did to his wife, Baran sees no reason to go easy on them. Channelling the three races that make up a Dragon Knight, Baran assumed a hybrid state more powerful than anything Dai had faced before.

#8: Estarossa Absorbs the Commandments

“The Seven Deadly Sins” (2014-) Obviously, that beating he took from Escanor did little to get this demon to alter his perspective. Returning amidst the battle between his species and that of the Archangels, Estarossa goes…somewhat off the edge. In order to stand up to the heavenly beings, the Commandment of Love doesn’t hesitate to absorb his brethren’s essence, each only racking up his power level to the point where he can easily tear through whatever the angels send his way. You know things are serious when someone can create an edgelord cloak made of actual darkness.

#7: Suzuki Goes 100%

“Mob Psycho 100” (2016-19) A dark reflection of what Mob could have been if used his esper abilities for selfish gain, Suzuki spent years stockpiling his psychic powers for the day he could exude domination over all. Of course, the last thing he expected was to have to face someone without any limits. Forced to unleash everything he had stored; Suzuki goes from a heartless businessman with dreams of grandeur…all the way to a final boss with a flaming psychic skull. Probably would have won the day if he hadn’t tangoed with the psychic prodigy with a bowl cut.

#6: Toguro at 100%

“Yu Yu Hakusho” (1992-94) Starting off as a henchman whose only talent seemed to be being able to bulk out to insane proportions, you wouldn’t think Toguro would pose that much of a threat to someone like Yusuke. And yet, all throughout the Dark Tournament, the demon would go on to prove to be one of the Spirit Detective’s most dangerous opponents. And that’s all before he pushed himself to his maximum, going from a ripped colossus to an abomination of hellish muscle, whose punches were more lethal than any Spirit Gun.

#5: Demon Queen Megicula

Top 10 Sexiest Anime Demon Girls

“Black Clover” (2017-21)

It’s fair to say each member of the Dark Triad is worse than the last, with the little sister of the group just as bloodthirsty and unempathetic. Taking on Noelle, Vanica proved herself to be a vicious spellcaster, but nothing that the water dancer can’t handle thanks to her years of training. At least until the Spade Kingdom psycho channelled the same demon that killed Noelle’s mother, converting herself into a beast that easily skewers the beautiful Valkyrie. Even at seventy percent, Megicula is not one to be messed with.

#4: Madara’s Twin Meteors

“Naruto: Shippuden” (2007-17) No matter what you think of his goals and the actions he took to make them a reality, there’s no denying that Madara Uchiha has got swag. After being resurrected, the OG shinobi wastes no time in flexing his strength by taking on the allied armies single handedly. As if that wasn’t enough, he then demonstrates just how prolific he is with jutsu…by summoning a meteor like it was nothing. Usually that would be enough to cement Madara’s status as a villain to be reckoned with, only for him to immediately outdo himself by revealing he actually summoned two! What a boss.

#3: Boros Unchained

“One-Punch Man” (2015-19) Like every other monster that foolishly faces off against Saitama, the galactic dominator is ultimately bested by the unbeatable fist of the world’s strongest hero. That’s not to say he doesn’t give it a hell of a go though. As their battle continues to escalate, Boros sheds off more and more of his armour, assuming a variety of forms along the way, whose eventual apex grants him enough vigour to kick Saitama all the way to the moon. Sure, it doesn’t help much when faced with a Serious Punch, but the splendour of watching them tussle never gets old!

#2: Freiza Reaches 100%

“Dragon Ball Z” (1989-96) Before the rest, there was this lone space tyrant and his purple shoulder gains! In spite of reaching his final form, Freiza is left hopelessly outmatched when Goku ascends into the form of a Super Saiyan, now strong enough to maul his friends’ murderer. Frieza still has one last ace up his tail though, convincing Goku to let him power up to his peak so they can both duke it out with all they have. While gaining serious bulk might not be as dramatic as his previous transformations, it’s still a trendsetter, and set up the final showdown on Namek rather nicely!

#1: Ulquiorra’s Segunda Etapa

“Bleach” (2004-12) As the fourth ranking member of the Espada, Ulquiorra was already strong enough to tango with Ichigo and then some. Even Hollowfied, the Substitute Strawberry Shinigami could barely keep up when Ulquiorra embraced his inner bat and unleashed his Ressureccion. Still, Ichigo’s resolve remained intact…something that Ulquiorra decided to shatter by revealing that he was in possession of a second transformation. This form completely overshadows that of his fellow Arrancar, placing the Aspect of Emptiness at the pinnacle of Hollow strength, which happened to translate into him ripping Ichigo a new hole with zero effort!
