#10: Dai’s Dragon Crest

“Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai” (2020-)

This was the moment we knew this series was going to be special. Following Avan’s failed sacrifice to stop the Dark Lord Hadlar, Dai is consumed with grief at the loss of his master, which in turn causes his mysterious mark to resurface, now exuding the image of a dragon and sending his power through the roof. Not only is he able to match Hadlar’s magic, but unleash Avan’s own technique with so much panache that it nearly cuts the Spinal Tap reject in half!

#9: WarGreymon’s Return

“Digimon Adventure:” (2020-)

Fans of the classic series are already familiar with just how monumental it was when the level of Mega was achieved. Whether or not this remake recaptures that same magic is up for debate, but there’s no denying seeing WarGreymon return in such a splendid fashion hit that nostalgia sweet spot. More imposing than ever, a weakling like Crossmon was never going to be able to stand up to an OG like him, especially when he unleashed the Terra Force for the first time. That’s…certainly bigger than we remember.

#8: Kumoko’s Close Call

“So I’m a Spider, So What?” (2021)

Life is pretty tough when you’re trapped inside of a cave, have nowhere to escape to, and are being cornered by giant monkey monsters. Even worse when you’ve been reincarnated as an oddly adorable spider. While she certainly does her best to hold off her attackers with a mixture of web and poison, Kumoko can only keep the bagragratches at bay for so long before one takes a chunk out of her. While this would normally be the end, by taking the last one down with her, a last second level-up saves her from the throes of death!

#7: Shinra’s Blue Flame

“Fire Force” (2019-20)

There’s hardcore training, and there’s Benimaru. In an attempt to improve themselves for future battles against the White Clad, both Shinra and Arthur are put through the ringer by the Fire Force Captain – who proceeds to beat them to the bone. Having been pushed well beyond his limit, Shinra’s goes through one hell of a fight or flight mode, gaining access to a flame far more dangerous than any before. We’ve yet to see just how deadly its effects can be, but if it can make Benimaru smile you know it’s all kinds of crazy.

#6: Luffy’s Ryou

“One Piece” (1999-)

Between his battles with Karakuri and Kaido, it was becoming clear that Luffy’s Devil Fruit could only take him so far. Don’t get us wrong, the Gum Gum Fruit and all of its Gears can be devastating when pushed to their limit, but ever since arriving in the New World, the key to many of his victories has been Haki. Rayleigh may have beaten the fundamental into him, but it was during his time imprisoned that Luffy was able to push it beyond its current state by incorporating Wano’s own version of Haki known as Ryou, and it packs quite the punch.

#5: Yuji’s Black Flash

“Jujutsu Kaisen” (2020-)

There’s still plenty of time for this jujutsu sorcerer to flourish into an even bigger beast, but for now this is a fine example of his growth. One capable of delivering a blow so epic that it leaves the embodiment of mother nature reeling. Thanks to some advice from his newfound brother Todo, Yuji takes his Divergent Fist to the next level, achieving concentration so intense that he was able to unleash a blast of cursed energy within a trillionth of a second. That look like it hurt.

#4: Naruto’s Six Paths

“Naruto Shippuden” (2007-17)

Naruto was hitting a crazy amount of power ups all throughout the Fourth Great Ninja War. For a while it seemed his Sage Mode was going to be the pinnacle of his ninja arsenal…then he befriended the demon fox inside of him and got to chatting with the Sage of the Six Paths. The result of which was a major influx of divine chakra that allowed him to reach an unparalleled state. Not sure how much further you can climb the ladder when you’ve got strength like this - but of course, Naruto manages.

#3: Giorno’s Gold Experience Requiem

“JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Win” (2018-19)

How does one even going about improving an ability that lets you create and transfer life from literally anything? Well, if you’re Giorno, you become the most powerful being on the planet. After being chosen by the arrow, Giorno’s Stand is reborn in Requiem, ascending beyond anything in the JoJo verse. How so? Basically, it’s the Uno Reverse Card of the Gods. Denying the truth to any who fight against it, Gold Experience Requiem can and will undo anything thrown against it before lashing back. Of course, since it also denies the truth of death as well, its victims can look forward to an endless and messy cycle of rebirth and demise. Just ask Diavolo.

#2: Goku’s Complete Ultra Instinct

“Dragon Ball Super” (2015-18)

Not since Goku blew everyone away with Super Saiyan 3 has there been such a substantial and acclaimed evolution for the character. Oh sure, there have been fusions and Super Saiyan Blue remains a pretty nifty idea, but all of them fell under the shadow of the original Super Saiyan’s golden glory. And then came the Tournament of Power, where even amongst gods, angels and every other kind of creature in the multiverse, Goku was able to once again go beyond and achieve a new level of power that left all others in the dust. This time completely with a fabulous set of silver hair.

#1: Asta’s Devil Arm

“Black Clover” (2017-)

You’d think after all the training he had in the Heart Kingdom no one would be able to stand up to the no magic idiot of the Black Bulls. I mean, did you see how jacked he’s got? Well, turns out muscles have got nothing of the eldest member of the Dark Triad. In fact, Dante’s magic is so obscene that not even Asta and Yami’s combined strength can hold a candle to it. The only option left is to fight a devil with a devil, as Asta offer his own arm to his inner monster in exchange for more power. Turns out to be a pretty good deal.
