Top 10 Anime Fights of 2022

Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 10 Anime Fights of 2020. For this list, we’re counting down the royal rumbles that rocked the anime scene with their visuals, emotional impact, and just how hard each contender beat the shit out the other! Was there a showdown you felt should have been included? Lodge a complaint in the comments below, and we’ll get to it…sometime…next year…promise!

#10: Yujiro vs. Kaku

“Baki” (2018-) Who’d have thought watching a man with a face on his back rip apart a geriatric for half an hour would be so entertaining? Once again demonstrating that it's his world and everyone else just lives in it, Yujiro proceeds to waste one of China’s most celebrated Sea Emperors – a century’s old master fighter feared for his absolute technique. The old coot certainly held his own, even pushing Yujiro to unleash the Face of the Demon at one point, but given how the only way for him to survive the fight was temporarily die…yeah, another win for the Ogre.

#9: Zoro vs. Kamazou

Top 30 Best Zoro Fights in One Piece

“One Piece” (1999-) Considering he’s currently wandering around Wano; land of samurai and all things traditionally Japanese, we’d be mightily disappointed if the next greatest swordsman didn’t have at least one awesome fight this year. He’s in his element after all, and quite frankly we were getting sick of Luffy hogging all the glory. Thankfully, Toei Animation didn’t waste the opportunity, and combined with One Piece’s ascended animation, the result was a stunning serenade of swords, one that pitted the Straw Hat pirate against the man formally known as Killer. Who needs SMILE when you’ve got swagger?

#8: Juggernaut vs. Orochi

“Fire Force” (2019-) The emotional pay-off here was so dynamite that it almost didn’t matter that technically this big lug nearly went out as a supernova simp. We’re still not exactly sure how he was able to reattach clothing like that, all we know is the former potato farmer was finally given his due to act as a hero following his commander’s death at the hands of the White Clad. Despite getting torn to ribbons, Juggernaut was able to overcome the pain in order to protect Tamaki…before he shoved a flaming missile right into Orochi’s face

#7: Touma & Gunha vs. Misaka

“A Certain Scientific Railgun T” (2020) You know, fair play to you Touma. At least you got one awesome moment in this spin-off that basically eclipsed every one of your shows. With Misaka’s power spiking out of control on the way to becoming a Level Six Esper, it falls to the manliest goofballs Academy City has ever known to snap her out of it. Just when you thought Gunha’s mad punching skills won the day, along comes Touma, and that infamous right arm of his. Only this time, it sprouts out a slew of divine dragons to tear away the unwanted psychic energy! That’s pretty metal.

#6: Team 7 vs. Deepa

“Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” (2017-) Another day, another Rasengan courtesy of Boruto’s Dad’s Son! Out matched by Deepa’s raw ferocity and the strength of his carbon manipulation, Boruto is left with no other option than to use the compression Rasengan, the results of which could potentially blow his own arm off. But thankfully, instead of going the same way his papa did, Mitsuki and Sarada lend him their chakra, allowing them to move forward as a single unit and compress the Rasengan to its maximum. The result of which easily crack through Deepa’s armour, his spleen and just about the rest of him too.

#5: Gojo vs. Jogo

“Jujutsu Kaisen” (2020) This little tussle was monumental for two reasons. On the one hand you’ve got the reveal of the Domain Expansion, which are stunning in their scope and detail. Then you’ve got Gojo just flexing on this one-eyed fool repeatedly. It’s not just that he’s a sarcastic chad who doesn’t even have to look to look at his foe to own them, but he has infinity on his side. Able to block any attack that comes his way, Gojo revealed the true extent of his dominance when he did away with the Curse’s volcanic Domain Expansion, and swapped it with one of his own; a void that rendered all life moot. What a beast.

#4: Avan & Dai vs. Hadlar

“Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai” (2020) In terms of fantasy fights that harken right back to the days of classic shounen like Dragon Ball, this scuffle absolutely nailed it! With the Dark Lord Hadlar’s return, not even the former hero Avan is able to stand up to his old nemesis now that the Dark King has given him a power boost. When his last second sacrifice fails, it falls to his apprentices to continue the fight. Fuelled by his grief, Dai accesses the Dragon Crest, before taking Hadlar to task with untapped magical potential and the force of his fists!

#3: Kirito vs. Subtilizer

“Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld” (2019-20) Kirito’s return was all we could have hoped for and more. Not only did he get a tender reunion with both Alice and Asuna, but even had a final boss waiting for him in the form of corrupt soldier Gabriel Miller; now a monster capable of absorbing all of Underworld for itself. Their clash is visually breath-taking but it also knew how to pull on the heartstrings thanks to cameos from Eugeo, Cardinal and the rest. As far as endings go, this was a pretty spectacular note to go out on, especially with that finishing Starburst Stream.

#2: Deku vs. Overhaul

“My Hero Academia” (2016-) Saving lives, taking names, and delivering karma like few can, Deku’s punch out with the bird-faced gangster was an all-out blast. After finally saving Eri, the super-powered fanboy is forced to face off against Chisaki and his twisted moral compass, only this time in the form of a giant kaiju he created from the remains of his lackeys. Luckily, with Eri’s Quirk constantly accelerating his own, Deku is able to utilise One for All at a hundred percent, allowing him to smash the beak of the bastard with an almighty blow.

#1: Everyone vs. The Devil

“Black Clover” (2017-) From the reveal of its sinisterly overpowered villain all the way to its hype conclusion, this war of the species had nowhere to go but to the top. For the second year in a row! As a creature capable of conjuring pretty much anything with his Word Soul magic, the Devil was the perfect foil for both the Clover Kingdom’s mages and the Elves to unite against. While Yami with his Equinox certainly stole the show, you have to give it to Asta with that stunning final attack!
