#10: Grindelwald’s Glimpse at the Future

Top 10 Things You Missed in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

The notorious dark wizard Grindelwald was able to win many hearts and minds to his side after showing a disturbing vision of events to come. After accessing a special skull, he was able to project visions of violence and terror to a stunned crowd. It all culminated with imagery that confirmed World War II was imminent. Seeing this series of events play out convinced many magical people that non-magical humans needed to be kept in check to keep everyone safe. As effective as Grindelwald's vision was, it’s unclear if he’ll be able to pull off a similar display. This is all due to the fact that Leta Lestrange destroyed the skull as one of her final acts.

#9: Bunty Broadacre’s Background

During a short scene in “Crimes of Grindelwald”, we met Newt’s new assistant Bunty Broadacre. We quickly learned that she has a passion for helping magical creatures and cares very deeply for her employer. Although Newt left Bunty behind for the events of the first movie, she’s fully along for the ride this time. Actor Eddie Redmayne revealed in an interview that the duo has a much deeper relationship that’s been fully fleshed out behind-the-scenes. While it’s unclear if the two are only interested in friendship or something more, we know she won’t leave Newt’s side this time. Watching this duo work together should give both their characters entirely new layers.

#8: Newt & Tina Are In a Better Place

A misunderstanding threw a major wrench in Newt and Tina’s budding relationship the last time they shared the screen. After reading a magazine article that claimed the wizard was engaged, the witch became colder and more businesslike in his presence. The two were so preoccupied with stopping wicked plans that it took them a while to clear things up. Soon after Tina realizes it was all just one big mistake, an awkward yet romantic conversation with Newt got them back on track. Since we haven’t seen much new footage with her, it’s unknown how much time they’ll get to spend together this time around. But we have a feeling that their future together is as bright as a salamander’s eyes.

#7: Reintroducing Eulalie Hicks

While most of Dumbledore’s allies in the trailer seem familiar, the charming Professor Hicks may seem like a completely new character. But she actually had a small yet important role in a previous film. Before Grindelwald sets up his final fiery gambit, Hicks encourages the elderly Flamel to help his allies. The ancient wizard would go on to instruct his allies how to keep France from burning to ashes. While we definitely appreciated the significant part Hicks played in “Crimes of Grindelwald”, we’re excited to see her take a more active role in “Secrets of Dumbledore.”. She already seems like an enchanting witch that isn’t afraid to fight against evil.

#6: Multiple Dumbledores Will Appear

Top 10 Movies Told Through Multiple Perspectives

Early footage confirmed that Albus Dumbeldore’s brother Aberforth will play a role in the newest wizarding world film. When we first met this sibling in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2”, he wasn’t exactly his brother’s biggest fan. This mainly stemmed from the fact that an altercation between the two men and Grindelwald ended with the death of Ariana Dumbeldore. Speaking of Albus’s sister, actress Hebe Beardsall is slated to return to the role after first making a cameo in the final Harry Potter film. Unless someone gets their hands on the resurrection stone, we can assume she’ll appear in a portrait again or in an extended flashback. The presence of both Ariana and Aberforth will almost certainly throw Albus for a loop.

#5: Theseus & Newt Buried The Hatchet

Although we know the Dumbeldore siblings won’t get to work through all their issues, there’s still hope for the Scamanders. At the beginning of “Crimes of Grindelwald”, the two had a very strained relationship. But they still truly cared for each other and Leta Lestrange underneath all their awkward interactions and moral disagreements. After she lost her life to Grindelwald, Newt finally and fully embraced his brother for real. The trailers have shown that the brothers will still work together while struggling a little to understand where the other is coming from. But we have a feeling they’ll overcome any differences to punish Grindelwald for Leta’s demise.

#4: Former Foes Transfigure Into Possible Friends

5 Questions Secrets of Dumbledore Answered & 5 We Still Have

For a large portion of “Crimes of Grindelwald”, the heroes were at odds with the determined Yusuf Kama. The wizard believed the only way to get revenge for the heinous acts committed against his family was to end Credence. However, Kama eventually learned that the person he set out to slay was already gone. In the aftermath of this revelation, he joined the heroes and even saved Credence’s close ally Nagini. Most fans were used to seeing her as Voldemort’s loyal snake. But the last time we saw her, she actually chose not to stand with a dark wizard and stick with good people. Although it doesn’t look like Nagini will return, former antagonist Kama’a actions will hopefully be enough to help the heroes prevail.

#3: Queenie’s Complicated Journey

Queenie’s love for Jacob caused her to cross a serious ethical line the last time we saw her. The no-maj man refused to marry her because their union could’ve gotten her thrown in jail. Unwilling to let Jacob go, she kept him under a deep enchantment until Newt’s intervention ended the spell. While getting space from her love, Grindelwald convinced her that he could help ensure Queenie could marry whomever she wants. Her belief in the dark wizard led her to leave Jacob and her friends behind so she could help make her dream a reality. As the conflict against Grindelwald rages on, we’ll be incredibly invested if Queenie’s allies can win the battle for her soul.

#2: Beating the Blood Pact

When Dumbledore refused to fight Grindelwald, officials believed the professor was sitting out because he still had romantic feelings for the dark wizard. But it turned out the good wizard’s hesitation was about so much more than any sparks of love. Back when Dumbledore and Grindelwald were close, they made a blood pact that prevented them from fighting each other. Fortunately, one of Newt’s nifflers was able to steal the vial that held the binding magical promise. It’s unclear how Dumbeldore will be able to break the blood pact and take up his wand against Grindelwald. But we have no doubt a wizard as clever as he is can definitely find a solution.

#1: Credence’s Incredibly Complicated Family History

Before being adopted into a cruel family, Credence’s name was apparently Aurelius Dumbeldore. When he was an infant traveling on a boat, Leta Lestrange unintentionally saved his life by moving him to a different crib. But Credence’s miraculous survival was soon followed by such a harsh upbringing that he became a dangerous type of wizard known as Obscurial. Although Credence’s cruel childhood definitely happened, his identity as a Dumbeldore is questionable. Since Grindelwald was the one who revealed the Obscurial’s true family lineage, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume the dark wizard lied to get a dangerous new ally on his side. We may finally know what’s true and what’s not when Credence encounters Albus in “Secrets of Dumbledore.”
