VOICE OVER: Matt Campbell
Script Written by Q.V. Hough.

On the surface they are squeaky clean, but dig deeper and you will find something much, much dirtier. Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we count down our picks for the Top 10 Songs You Didn't Know Were About Sex. For this list we are looking at songs that contain surprisingly deceptively dirty lyrics. Artists like Madonna will not be included as sex is a common theme in her music.

Special thanks to our user jackcooper for submitting the idea on our Suggestion Tool at http://www.WatchMojo.comsuggest

#10: “Relax” (1983)
Frankie Goes to Hollywood

Prepare to see this 80s classic in a whole next light. While most listeners surely aren’t aware of the background of this highly controversial single, let’s just say the song was found on an album called Welcome to the Pleasuredome. Although the band has denied the song’s sexual lyrics due to heavy controversy, the track’s music video only further confirms its subject matter. Reaching platinum status in the U.K and winning Best British Single at the Brit Awards, it’s no surprise that the controversial nature of the song had a large effect on the tune’s success.

#9: “Whistle” (2012)
Flo Rida

Top 10 Singers Who Can Hit Whistle Notes

Here’s a shocker for all you innocent Mojoholics. Flo Rida wasn’t exactly singing about his days as a referee when he asked if you “can you blow his whistle.” Are you still not sure how to? Well, Flo Rida lays down in detail how it’s done. Sure, many were quick to spot Flo Rida’s message from the start, but the more innocent listeners failed to recognize the symbolism behind a line such as “stroke your little ego.” Oh, Flo Rida – you charmed millions with your summer jam of secret messages, but we’re not fooled.

#8: “Crash Into Me” (1996)
Dave Matthews Band

Also in:

Derek Orsi - Crash & Burn (Live at Freq Shop)

For years, women have been touched by Dave Matthew’s poetic lyrics of a man in love, but perhaps they didn’t know that said man was creeping on his precious through a window? That’s right, shortly after requesting a better view of, um, a woman’s legs, the song becomes a little less subtle, exposing the narrators voyeuristic motives. So, don’t even think about choosing this creepy production as your wedding song. Unless of course you want some confused wedding guests.

#7: “I’m So Excited” (1982)
The Pointer Sisters

Also in:

Top 10 Eurovision Songs That Didn't Have to Go THAT Hard

This early 80s dance-pop tune is so powerful that listeners completely lose control of rational thought and get straight-up funky, especially when played in a public setting. Yeah, you might think it’s all about sweet embraces and the excitement of new love, but “I’m So Excited” is a detailed document about being excited for a sexual encounter. First, she sets the date. Then, she lets her intentions be known. And finally she requests her partner to “move real slow” until the sexual fantasy is complete. Try and listen to this one the same way again.

#6: “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” (2007)
Soulja Boy Tell’em

While the Pointer Sisters made people get down with the groove, Soulja Boy created a social dance phenomenon that spread across the world. What few understood, however, is the reference to a superhero by the name of Superman. Okay, so some of the lyrics are painfully direct, but Soulja Boy’s reference to the Man of Steel is actually a reference to a bedroom practice. In fact, you’re probably better off Googling it yourself than having us explain it step-by-step. Warning: you’ll never be the same and probably feel slightly disturbed.

#5: “Sledgehammer” (1986)
Peter Gabriel

Thanks to one of the most popular and innovative music videos of all-time, Peter Gabriel took home nine awards at the 1987 MTV Video Music Awards. The song is just one massive sexual innuendo after another, cleverly using everyday objects to hide the song’s real meaning. That’s right, this is a man who asks you to “open up your fruit cakes” and then call him “The Sledgehammer.” Of course, given the jolly music video, he doesn’t really mean that, right? Hmm…

#4: “Barbie Girl” (1997)
Aqua

Also in:

Top 10 Best Barbie Songs

Oh, sweet Barbie Doll. You made friends with millions of girls over the years…but then you grew up and became a sex symbol. Well, that’s what Aqua had us believing, much to the chagrin of Mattel. Singer Lene Nystrom took on the role of Barbie and sang about her plastic world in which Ken could undress her “everywhere.” The lyrics actually poke fun at real-life Barbie Girls and society’s influence on women as sexual objects, and are full of sexual innuendos.

#3: “If You Seek Amy” (2009)
Britney Spears

Also in:

Songs You Didn't Know Were Written By Lady Gaga

Ok, Mojoholics – repeat this title to yourself three times and you’ll find out why it’s on our list. If you still seek the truth, however, we’ll tell you. This song is about sexual intercourse. Surprised? Britney Spears tried to pull a fast one on her listeners, or at least tried to make them laugh. Lyrically, “If You Seek Me” has Spears searching for a friend named – you guessed it – Amy, which is either completely brilliant or completely mad given the fact that “all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to” find her. Well, at least Britney looks good.

#2: “Ticket to Ride” (1965)
The Beatles

Also in:

Ticketmaster’s Never Ending Ticket Fiasco | Taylor Swift Mania | Amai Kuda et Les Bois Interview

Who said the lovable lads from Liverpool couldn’t put some risqué content in their music. Go ahead and hum it to yourself one more time before we shatter your childhood memories. Drumroll….the fun-loving “Ticket to Ride” is actually about Hamburg prostitutes. Yes, The Beatles played thousands of shows in the German city before traveling to America, and ladies of the night carried actual tickets to prove their health…AND we all know the true meaning of taking someone for “a ride.” So, there you have it. Just don’t tell your mother.

Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.

“Glad You Came” (2011)
The Wanted

“What’s Your Flava?” (2002)
Craig David

“Genie in a Bottle” (1999)
Christina Aguilera

“Rosie” (1977)
Jackson Browne

“(I Just) Died in Your Arms” (1986)
Cutting Crew

“Poker Face” (2008)
Lady Gaga

#1: “Y.M.C.A.” (1978)
Village People

Also in:

Top 10 Brand Jingles That Didn't Have to Go THAT Hard

Yeah…here’s something to think about the next time you see your family members cackling with glee and dancing to this classic anthem. The lyrics are a double-entendre for sexual hookups at the good ol’ Y.M.C.A. It’s no accident that The Village People specifically identify a spot where a “young man” can “hang out with all the boys.” So, remember this at your next wedding celebration – long before the concept of Tinder, there was an actual place for the same kind of connections. The only difference is that we’re not waving our arms in the air to a song called “Tinder.” At least, not yet.

So, do you agree with our selections? What is your favorite song you didn’t know was about sex? For more mind-blowing Top 10s published daily, be sure to subscribe to WatchMojo.com.
