For this list, we’re looking at 5 of the best properties that Netflix will sadly be dropping come November 2018, as well 5 of the best incoming titles for you to get excited about. #5: “The Land Before Time” (1988) Leaving: November 1st, 2018 This Don Bluth classic is a wonderful and heartwarming adventure through prehistoric times. For those lucky enough to have been exposed to it when they were little, it likely birthed a long-lasting love of dinosaurs. Chances are that you’ve noticed it on Netflix and that you’ve been meaning to take a trip down memory lane with Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky and Petra. If you’ve been procrastinating on that front, well, we’ve got some bad news for you: as of November, “The Land Before Time” will be going the way of the dinosaurs as far as Netflix is concerned, so catch it fast. #5: “Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Gauntlet” (1988-99; 2017-) Coming: November 22nd, 2018 MSTies rejoice, your beloved series returns to Netflix for another journey into the wild world of B movies. In 2017, a crowd-funded revival brought 14 new episodes of this unique series to Netflix, and clearly it resonated with fans, as we’re getting six more! This twelfth season of Mystery Science Theater 3000 was reportedly written with binge-watching in mind and, as such, it has earned itself an appropriate subtitle, “The Gauntlet”. But let’s be honest with each other, we were going to binge watch this no matter how they formatted it. Set to release on Thanksgiving, an important day in the show’s history, “The Gauntlet” gives us plenty to be thankful for. #4: “Undercover Boss” (2010-) Seasons 1-5 Leaving: November 17th, 2018 The jig is up, our cover is blown! Since 2010, the American version of this hit British series, replicated the world over, has been been delighting viewers by bringing them behind the scenes as high powered executives of large companies go undercover in entry level positions. It’s a simple premise, but one that simply does not get old. The series shows no sign of slowing down, but their distribution deal with Netflix has come to an end. With that being said, Undercover Boss’ last day on the job is November 17th, so consider this your final binge notice. #4: “A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding” (2018) Coming: November 30th, 2018 On November 17th, 2017, Netflix unleashed “A Christmas Prince” upon the world. Some likened it to the offerings of Hallmark or Lifetime and dubbed it “so bad it’s good”. As others have argued however, it also delivers all the cheese, sentimentality, predictability, and unself-conscious whimsy that people often want from a Christmas movie. By all metrics a modest holiday romcom in design, “A Christmas Prince” inspired some serious devotees; according to Netflix, 53 people watched it every day for 18 days straight. Well, Merry Christmas! A sequel has arrived and it looks to be a perfect follow-up in every sense: cute, cheesy and oh so perfect for the holiday season. #3: “Amélie” (2001) Leaving: November 1st, 2018 There aren’t many films like “Amélie” - at least not ones that made as a big of an impact with North American audiences. A French romantic comedy from filmmaker Jean-Pierre Jeunet, “Amélie” follows its titular character on a self-imposed mission to improve the lives of the people around her. It’s a fun and fanciful adventure, full of color and odd characters, not to mention the various inanimate objects brought to life by the main character’s powerful imagination. In short, the movie is a pleasure to watch - and that’s in no small part thanks to Audrey Tautou’s magnetic performance. Sadly, this gem is gone as of November 1st. #3: “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power” (2018-) Coming: November 16th, 2018 After much anticipation, the small screen return of a beloved heroine is upon us. Prepare yourself for She-Ra as you’ve never seen her before. When the animation style and character design for this new series was revealed, it met with a backlash from some vocal gatekeepers of geekdom. Apparently this warrior princess has to be busty, scantily clad, leggy, and always wearing makeup. Well… naysayers be damned, Noelle Stevenson’s modern She-Ra has arrived and she feels like the heroine this generation needs. She-Ra is a warrior first and foremost, and the trailer for this series makes that perfectly clear. November 16th can’t get here soon enough. #2: “Jurassic Park” (1993) Leaving: November 1st, 2018 What is this, Netflix’s version of an extinction level event? Not only are we saying goodbye to “The Land Before Time” and its first two sequels, we’re also losing Steven Spielberg’s landmark dino-blockbuster “Jurassic Park”. Netflix, this hurts like an asteroid smashing into the Earth’s crust. On the first day of November, this disaster will bereft us of the original installment, and the blast radius will also take out “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” and “Jurassic Park III” with it. Get your dino fix now before time runs out. #2: “Narcos: Mexico” (2018-) Coming: November 16th, 2018 After three compelling seasons, “Narcos” is moving on from the story of Pablo Escobar and the Cali Cartel to strike boldly into new territory. Shifting its focus to 1980s Mexico, this fourth season/companion series, which boasts a new cast and subtitle, explores the growth of the Mexican drug trade under Félix Gallardo of the Guadalajara Cartel. Shows undergoing such a drastic change-up often fail, but from the looks of the trailer, “Narcos: Mexico” feels like a worthy continuation of the hit series. With Michael Peña and Diego Luna onboard, it also boasts a cast that inspires plenty of confidence. #1: “Paddington” (2014) Leaving: November 16th, 2018 They don’t make family movies like they used, but 2014’s “Paddington” is one of the rare exceptions - a real throwback to heartwarming cinematic adventures of a bygone era. Paddington is brought to life with flawlessly executed CGI, allowing him to seamlessly fit into modern day London. This orphan’s road in finding a new home isn’t without its hiccups, but every misstep and spilled jar of marmalade only serves to make his story more sweet and resonant. Paddington’s tale is one that speaks straight to your heart. So tell us Netflix, where are we supposed to go for a pick me up as of November 16th? #1: “House of Cards” (2013-) Season 6 Coming: November 2nd, 2018 Well … this isn’t going to help our Paddington withdrawal, but “House of Cards” season six certainly helps to address a much larger problem. With the fall of Kevin Spacey as part of the long-overdue MeToo movement, this hit Netflix series was left without its leading man. Thankfully, they had a leading lady more than qualified. The final season of “House of Cards” sees the incomparable Robin Wright take center stage now that Claire Underwood is President of the United States. Netflix’s decision to continue the series in such a manner makes a strong statement and also marks a compelling shift in the show’s plot. We can’t wait to watch!
