As if traveling at high-speed in mid-air wasn't nerve-wracking enough… In this video, http://www.WatchMojo.com counts down our picks for the top 10 movie fights on a plane. For this list, we're taking a look at daring, dangerous, and a little bit unwise fight sequences that occur in, on or around an aircraft. These brutish battles aren't all mid-air acrobatics and fisticuffs; sometimes it's an actual in-flight shootout or grounded hand-to-hand combat. Certainly, this is not what the Wright brothers had in mind.

Special thanks to our users Chris Morris and thenewjord50 for submitting the idea on our Suggestions Page at WatchMojo.comsuggest

As if traveling at high-speed in mid-air wasn’t nerve-wracking enough… Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’re counting down our picks for the top 10 movie fights on a plane. For this list, we’re taking a look at daring, dangerous, and a little bit unwise fight sequences that occur in, on or around an aircraft. These brutish battles aren’t all mid-air acrobatics and fisticuffs; sometimes it’s an actual in-flight shootout or grounded hand-to-hand combat. Certainly, this is not what the Wright brothers had in mind.

#10: Cruise Against the World “Knight and Day” (2010)

Also in:

Top 10 Tom Cruise Movie Lines

If you know anything about Tom Cruise, it’s that he likes to play characters who are down for a good fight every now and then. And what better time to do that than when aboard an airplane? Any time’s a good time to scrap when you’re secret agent on the run. Especially when it’s you against many. Airplane fighting is a dangerous job, but somebody’s gotta do it. And if not Tom Cruise, then who?

#9: Indy Fights Dirty “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (1981)

We may have grown accustomed to watching this adventurous archeologist dodging boulders and surviving nuclear explosions, but when it comes time to square up, he can also throw a mean jab or two. And when it comes to fighting hulking Nazi mechanics while the propellers of a plane loom dangerously in the background, you know he damn well better win. Epecially when there’s gas running altogether too quickly towards a fire. It’s always something.

#8: Arnie vs. Airplane “Eraser” (1996)

Schwarzenegger is a versatile actor. People, aliens, and robots, are constantly trying to kill his characters, so he gets into a lot of fights. Like, a lot. It would stand to reason that some of these fights would occur mid-air. Unfortunately for these bad guys, if anyone can hang off the side of a plane with no parachute and a burning engine on his ass and survive, it’s Arnie. They didn’t know that little things like physics or logic aren’t going to keep him from getting the upper hand.

#7: Parachute Problems “Moonraker” (1979)

If you’re losing a fight to a British secret agent and happen to get thrown from a plane, you better make darn sure you’ve got a parachute. And if you do happen to have a parachute, you better double check and make sure that it’s been properly secured to your body, otherwise James Bond might just show up and jack you in mid-air. Moral of the story: don’t skydive if your parachute situation is sketchy or if 007’s on your tail.

#6: High Altitude Heist “Cliffhanger” (1993)

Top 10 High School Fights In Movies

Robbing banks is sooooo old school. The kids these days – as in the early-‘90s – have started committing heists while up in a plane. It’s more of a thrill. It also requires amassing a team of highly skilled criminals, including at least one person who knows how to fly a jet and one who’s willing to zip-line between two airborne planes – but that should be easy enough to come by. Unfortunately, their person in charge of highflying murder was a little sloppy and left the wrong guy alive.

#5: That Ain’t a Plane, That’s a Planet “Fast & Furious 6” (2013)

This scene might as well have been called the “battle of the bulk” because of the amount of feuding muscle. The Rock, Vin Diesel and their team are chasing their enemies across a military base, when the baddies’ escape plan shows up. Never ones to be deterred by a simple aircraft, the good guys follow the bad guys into the cargo bay and all hell breaks loose. With action in the plane and on the ground, the heroes keep one rule in mind: keep that plane on the ground.

#4: Mid-Air Bond-ing “Octopussy” (1983)

Also in:

Top 10 Unrealistic Things About Movie Fights

Chances are if you’re a villain and you’re trying to make some form of in-flight escape with Bond in pursuit, it’s not going to work out for you. Especially if he’s equipped with a horse. In an attempt to stop Kamal Khan and save Octopussy, 007 hops a ride on their flight. But, as we already know, Bond is pretty much the last person you want to catch a flight with. Something is always going down with this dude, and it’s not just the plane.

#3: Always Bet on Black “Passenger 57” (1992)

Also in:

Top 20 Hilariously Awful Movie Fights

If you thought Wesley Snipes was just your average, everyday commercial flight passenger, well, you got that wrong, terrorists. He’s the 57th passenger and he’s gonna whoop some butt. And it’s a good thing too, because the FBI decided to transport an international criminal on this flight, and that bad boy has stacked the plane with cronies that are there to bust him out. Maybe they just wanted to test this retired police officer’s fighting skills. Like an elaborate training session.

#2: Put the Bunny Back in the Box “Con Air” (1997)

Also in:

Top 10 Movie Fights Where the Hero Takes Zero Damage

There aren’t many prison-weary criminals who’d forgo their freedom to stay aboard a plane that’s been hijacked by even MORE ruthless criminals. But when you’ve got buddies on board who need your help, the honorable thing is obviously to stay and fight and ruin the scarier criminals’ plans. But when these scary dudes find out what you’re up to, that you’ve been freed and that you’re on your way home to your family, you can expect an in-flight fight. And impalement. Before our top pick taxis down the runway, here are a few honorable mentions: - “Captain America: The First Avenger” (2011) - “Die Hard 2: Die Harder” (1990) - “True Lies” (1994) - “Magnum Force” (1973) - “Goldfinger” (1964)

#1: We Don’t Negotiate with Terrorists “Air Force One” (1997)

Also in:

Top 10 Movie Terrorists

If the Russian terrorists who hijacked Air Force One thought they were dealing with some doughy politician-turned-President, they got a rude awakening. Harrison Ford plays a decorated military man-slash-President who takes matters into his own hands when he and his family are held hostage by Russians who want one of their comrades released. But instead of negotiating with terrorists, President Marshall just straight up kills them himself. They obviously didn’t know that this wasn’t the President’s first plane fight. But they learned their lesson. Do you agree with our list? What do you think is the best movie plane fight? For more entertaining Top 10s published every day, be sure to subscribe to WatchMojo.com.
