Top 20 Zero to Hero Anime Characters

Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 10 Most Bloodthirsty Anime Characters. For this list, we’re going to be looking at the guys and girls in anime who only have one thing on the brain, and that’s getting themselves a drop of the red stuff. Think we missed out an iconic eviscerator? Let us know in the comments!

#10: Stain

“My Hero Academia” (2016-) Purging false idols is a messy business, but the Hero Killer has never lacked conviction. Believing that the new hero society is full of fakes who don’t adhere to the principles of what makes a true hero, Stain is a one-man army determined to cull the caped crusader populace, usually with a blade to the face. With his Quirk allowing him to paralyse an opponent through indigestion of their blood, Stain racked up quite the body count during his tenure, and even after his capture served as an inspiration to a new generation of homicidal monsters!

#9: Rize Kamishiro

“Tokyo Ghoul” series (2014-18) When your species’ most notable trait is devouring humans, earning the nickname of the Binge Eater inspires a whole other level of fear. Living up to her moniker, Rize is dedicated to her gluttonous ways, to the extent that she’s willing to defy the laws of Ghoul jurisdiction and go on feeding frenzies no matter the consequences, just to satisfy her cravings. It’s not like she had to try very hard. With such an alluring human appearance, her dinner practically lined up for her. Just ask Kaneki…

#8: Shin

“Dorohedoro” (2020) Even amongst the most savage of sorcerers, Shin is a force of nature. And by that we mean he will happily tear open someone’s head with the back of a hammer. Even with his smoke allowing him to slice apart targets at will, Shin’s preferred method of violence is just to leap into the fray and go hammer time on the nearest target he can find. As you can guess, this makes him an ideal enforcer for a mafioso like En. Not that should deter you from thinking he’s a swell guy.

#7: Raian

“Kengan Ashura” (2019) As elite assassins, the Kure clan are known for getting the job done no matter what. It’s never personal, it’s just business. This…is not the case with the black sheep of the family. One of the strongest members of the Kure, Raian wholeheartedly enjoys the violence and killing that comes with his job, evident all throughout his participation within the Kengan Tournament. Given his incredible fighting prowess and mastery over Removal, you can’t fault him for being proud of his abilities. Hey, everyone is allowed to enjoy their work!

#6: Ladd Russo

“Baccano!” (2007) Some gangsters are in it for profit, others as a means of survival, while a few have no choice in the matter. Then there’s Ladd; who savours killing above all, and takes great pleasure when given the chance to mess up some poor bastard, whether it be with a hail of bullets or a bout of fisticuffs. Ladd’s psychopathy runs deep, to the point where he doesn’t even love his bride to be, he just loves the idea of killing her at his own leisure. Dude’s a sick puppy, but damn does he dress up smart.

#5: Elsa Granhiert

“Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World” (2016-21) Is she bedazzling? Very much so. Does she get her kicks from tearing out the guts of her victims and getting to play around with them? Sadly, yes. Very much Subaru’s nemesis, Elsa is the worst kind of assassin you could ever hope to meet. Her kills are never quick, with her relishing every single moment of suffering that she can draw out. Falling for her wily charms just guarantees you an excruciating ending.

#4: Goblin Slayer

“Goblin Slayer” (2018-) Hey, someone needs to kill those little green gits, and who better for the job than a fully armoured adventurer with a D&D sized vendetta? After his sister’s murder at the tiny hands of a pack of goblins, the unnamed warrior dedicates his life to hunting them down. Doesn’t matter their size, Goblin Slayer will use whatever is at his disposal in order to eradicate their race. Heck, you give him some string and a roll of the dice, and he’ll bring them down without fail.

#3: Nosferatu Zodd

“Berserk” franchise (1997-2017) Wandering from battlefield to battlefield, this Apostle lives to fight. Forever seeking out stronger opponents, Zodd’s immense size and strength towers over the average warrior, with only a chad like Guts being able to stand up to his might. Of course, should he finally find a worthy opponent, that’s when Zodd lets the bull out of the pen, revealing a demonic form that few could every truly hope to overcome. You see this man in a warzone, you run, because unless you’re equipped with a Dragonslayer, you aren’t going to last a second.

#2: Alucard

Also in:

Anime Duel: Alucard vs Dio Brando

“Hellsing Ultimate” (2006-12) What kind of vampire would he be if he didn’t love draining his victims of blood in the most violent ways possible? While often spending his nights killing off ghouls, evil priests and vampires, Alucard is a monster through and through who relishes the chance to let his inner sadist. Whether it be with his guns, his teeth, or unleashing the millions of souls trapped inside him, Alucard is an instrument of death, forever eager to get himself that next bite to drink.

#1: Hisoka

“Hunter x Hunter” (2011-14) Besting those of greater strength, dominating those with the potential to become truly powerful, this warped mentality defines Hisoka’s whole existence. His murderous instinct isn’t so much a tool for him to use in the heat of battle, as it is an insatiable drug, an addition to killing that compels him to such an extent that he actually finds strong opponents to be…arousing. Creepy in every sense of the word, it’s hard to decide what constitutes a worse fate; being Hisoka’s enemy or his latest infatuation.
