For this list, we're taking a look at upcoming reboots and revivals of classic TV shows we've been yearning for more of.
#10: “Roswell”
Airing from 1999 to 2002, “Roswell” is one of those shows that got cancelled far too soon. No matter how many bottles of tabasco sauce supporters sent in, it looked like this cult show was dead and buried. Fans were given a glimmer of hope in October 2017, however, when the CW teased a potential reboot. A couple months later, it was announced that a pilot had been ordered with Julie Plec of “The Vampire Diaries” directing and “So You Think You Can Dance” victor Jeanine Mason playing the lead. The story puts a fresh spin on immigration as a young woman with undocumented parents learns that her teenage crush is literally an illegal alien.
#9: “The L Word”

In many respects, “The L Word” did for Showtime what “Sex and the City” did for HBO. Rather than focusing on an ensemble of heterosexual women, though, this groundbreaking drama followed several women who preferred the same sex. Picking up multiple GLAAD Awards during its initial run, the show was praised for its honest depiction of lesbians. Eight years after the final episode aired, it was announced that Showtime was eyeing a sequel series with creator Ilene Chaiken returning to executive produce and filmmaker Marja-Lewis Ryan acting as showrunner. Actresses Jennifer Beals, Katherine Moennig, and Leisha Hailey are also attached to the product, which will revolve around a new group of female characters.

In recent years, we’ve seen several family-friendly sitcoms from the 90s make a comeback, keeping the spirit of TGIF alive. “Boy Meets World” transitioned into “Girl Meets World,” “Full House” continued as “Fuller Houser,” and now the Mowry sisters are heading back to the small screen. Tia and Tamera have been hinting at the possibility of a “Sister, Sister” reunion for a while now. Speaking with Steve Harvey in early 2018, actress Jackée Harry confirmed that a revival series was indeed in the works. Considering that the original show ended almost 20 years ago, it’ll be fun to catch up with the old gang for more crazy twin shenanigans.

Over the years, various studios and filmmakers have attempted to revive Hanna-Barbera’s Space Age animated series. In 2017, it was announced that ABC and WB Television would be collaborating on a live-action multi-camera comedy series based on “The Jetsons.” Granted, live-action adaptations of classic cartoons rarely work. Just look at “The Flintstones.” The talent behind this reboot has us optimistic, though, with Robert Zemeckis of “Back to the Future” executive producing and the pilot written by Gary Janetti, who has worked on shows like “Will & Grace” and “Family Guy.” With these names involved, “Jetsons” just might be a refreshing blast from the past… from the future…

With shows like “Roseanne” recently returning to the airwaves, it’s getting hard to keep track of which decade we’re living in. Audiences will be receiving yet another dose of 80s/90s nostalgia with the return of “Murphy Brown” in 2018. CBS has officially announced that Candice Bergen is reprising her Emmy-winning role for a 13-episode eleventh season. The initial series was known for tackling various relevant topics, most notably challenging Vice President Dan Quayle’s stance on single parenting. Seeing how family structures have evolved since then and today’s political climate is tailor-made for satire, now’s as good a time as any to get Murphy back behind the news desk.

Despite being loaded with timely pop culture references, “Animaniacs” still manages to remain timeless even decades later. So, it makes perfect sense for executive producer Steven Spielberg to reboot the franchise for audiences young and old. With Wellesley Wild of “Family Guy” acting as showrunner, this revival will see the return of Yakko, Wakko, and Dot, as well as Pinky and the Brain. Set to premiere in 2020, the new series has already received a two-season order from Hulu. Wait, so with their pending acquisition of 21st Century Fox, Disney would have a majority stake in Hulu. Does that mean the Warners will be moving from the water tower to the Mouse House?
#4: “Young Justice: Outsiders”

Yet another show that got prematurely axed off, “Young Justice” only lasted for two seasons, but its dedicated following wouldn’t let it go quietly into the night. Initially cancelled in 2013, the animated series developed an even larger fan base once all the episodes were made available on Netflix. This helped pave the way for a glorious day in 2016 when Warner Bros. Animation announced a third season, which will be entitled “Young Justice: Outsiders.” Aqualad, Superboy, Batgirl, and various others will be back in action for this long-awaited revival. Even better, Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman are also returning as showrunners, guaranteeing the new season will do our young heroes justice.

Spanning across a cartoon, two game shows, and numerous computer games, Carmen Sandiego dominated popular culture throughout the late 80s and 90s. After several years of being absent from the public eye, however, fans have been asking/singing the same question: “where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?” The answer is on Netflix! The streaming service is releasing a new animated series with Gina Rodriguez of “Jane the Virgin” and “Annihilation” voicing the World’s Greatest Thief. Rodriguez will also portray a live-action version of the character in a Netflix feature film. For anyone who was a Gumshoe back in the day, it’s time to unravel the greatest mystery of all: Carmen Sandiego’s backstory.

When people think of kickass animated princesses, She-Ra is one of first names that comes to mind. Much like the “Masters of the Universe” franchise on the whole, however, the “Princess of Power” animated series has started to show its age. Of course that’s just one of the many reasons why Princess Adora is an ideal candidate for a reboot. Slated for a 2018 release, the new “She-Ra” series will be a collaboration between Netflix and DreamWorks Animation. These two entertainment giants previously did an exceptional job at rebooting the “Voltron” franchise. With Eisner Award-winning author Noelle Stevenson also executive producing, it’s safe to assume that this show will have the power.

“The Twilight Zone” has actually already been revived a couple times, although nothing has ever been able to top the rich storytelling or cultural impact of the original 1959 series. With “American Horror Story” and especially “Black Mirror,” though, anthology series have been resurfacing in popularity as of late. So now seems like an appropriate time to reboot Rod Serling’s creation yet again. We can’t think of a better person to adapt the franchise for a modern audience than Jordan Peele, who won an Academy Award for writing the horror comedy “Get Out.” If you’ve been on the fence about getting CBS All Access, this series just might convince you to enter another dimension.
