All is not lost, though. At the hospital, Alex bonds with a teenager, who he talks to about the importance of a first kiss, saying: [“You can't cheat your first kiss, Nicole. Trust me you don't want to, cause when you find that right person to first kiss, it's everything.” He seems to take his own advice, showing up to the bar where Izzie is later. Seattle Grace gains a whole new understanding of trauma when a man with a gun threatens the hospital. In the wake of this experience, Callie and Arizona are forced to reconsider their mortality and their relationship. Much to the audience’s chagrin, they had previously separated because of their differing desires around having a family. But now they realize all that matters is that they are together, and Arizona agrees to have children, leading to a kiss full of the promise of their future together. While this by no means negates the events of the previous episode, it is always inspiring to see something beautiful come out of a tragedy.
#7: Amelia Shepherd & Kai Bartley “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear”
We all know some of the best liplocks on television come after a season of build-up, and that is certainly the case for Amelia and Kai. Ever since they shared that first look, there has been an unmistakable chemistry between them. So it feels like destiny when Amelia is the one to find Kai seriously stressed out outside the hospital, and to help them try to calm down. Kai slowly leans forward, romantically pushing Amelia’s hair behind her ear. They really take their time easing into this kiss, letting both characters luxuriate in this sweet, cathartic moment.

Everyone loves a spontaneous kiss, one so sudden and passionate that it leaves you dazed as you come up for air. That is definitely the case with Owen and Cristina’s first kiss. He picks her up and carries her into the hospital after she’s stabbed by an icicle, which is already pretty cute. Then he treats her injury and talks with her about the importance of making mistakes, proving they have a connection. And we can see that connection simmering in their eyes right before he closes the blinds, turns around, and kisses her like he’s drowning and she’s air.

The night of their third date, Miranda is anxious that Ben wants to move faster than she does, but he proves himself the perfect partner for her. Quite the gentleman. When she and Nathan argue in the parking lot and Meredith channels all that energy into a kiss, viewers and hospital staff alike breathe a collective sigh of “FINALLY!” And it doesn’t hurt that this kiss is a pretty intense one.
