Top 10 Times Bill Hader Broke The SNL Cast

Getting students interested in science can be difficult for teachers. But Bill Nye and his self-titled ‘90s TV show got every kid ready to learn thanks to its punchy opening theme. During the song, the chorus and lead singer with a voice deeper than the Mariana Trench chant Bill’s name. And we’re also treated to not only some goofy ‘90s sound effects, but also some wailing electric guitar. Oh, and a random science fact - if nothing else, we’ll always remember that “inertia is a property of matter.” The “Bill Nye: The Science Guy” theme always hypes up anyone who wants to learn. And it will definitely have you chanting along with the chorus every time.

#9: “Reading Rainbow Theme Song (Butterfly in the Sky)” “Reading Rainbow” (1983-2006)

“Take a look, it’s in a book…” Ahem, sorry. “Reading Rainbow”’s theme song is another spectacular song for an educational kid show. Several versions of the tune were used throughout the run of “Reading Rainbow” with various singers and instrumentation. While everyone grew up with a different version, they all go for broke in different ways. There’s something about that classic synthesizer combined with Tina Fabrique’s passionate vocals that tugs on both our heartstrings and our nostalgia. It’s like they distilled imagination and wonder into less than a minute to make it into a killer song!

#8: “Believe in Yourself (A Wonderful Kind Of Day)” “Arthur” (1996-2022)

Top 10 Disney Show Theme Songs That Didn't Have To Go THAT Hard

Reggae isn’t probably the first genre that comes to mind for a kid show theme about a talking aardvark. However, “Arthur” not only pulls it off, but it does so in style! “Believe in Yourself (A Wonderful Kind of Day)” is a chill and uplifting tune sung by Ziggy Marley himself. While you’re listening to its infectious rhythm and beat, you’ll be tapping your toes and singing along without fail. Plus, its wonderful message about living for today and believing in oneself gives it a positively timeless feel. Any time we listen to this theme instantly becomes “a wonderful kind of day.”

#7: “6teen” Theme Song “6teen” (2004-10)

Although this show and its song are very much a product of the 2000s, the theme still definitely holds up. The “6teen” theme is a pop rock song that emphasizes the show’s title while describing its premise in a fun way. Every time you watch an episode, you’ll see a bunch of relatable teens hanging out at the mall in between their work hours. The fast-paced instruments and memorable beat go much harder than you’d expect of an opening theme for an animated sitcom. And whether you’re a teen, or just reflecting on when you were, we can all take advice from the song and “make the good times last.”

#6: “Pokémon Theme” “Pokémon” (1997-)

Top 10 Second Generation Pokémon

While it may have been devised just for the first season of “Pokémon”’s American dub, this song has become the anthem for this titanic franchise practically worldwide. Fittingly for a song sometimes known as “Gotta Catch ‘em All,” this theme is among the catchiest ever made! Singer Jason Paige belts out the iconic and surprisingly inspirational lyrics for this hit. He sings about catching and befriending pocket monsters with such gusto that it’s borderline impossible not to sing along with him. The “Pokémon Theme” is among the very best, like no song for the show ever was or will be.

#5: “What’s New, Scooby Doo?” Theme “What’s New, Scooby Doo?” (2002-06)

Top 10 Theme Songs That Didn't Have to Go THAT Hard

The “Scooby-Doo” franchise has had some incredible theme music throughout its run. However, our pick goes to the theme from the early 2000s series “What’s New, Scooby-Doo?” There was no reason for a mystery show about this old franchise to try so hard to get our attention. But the production team still went out and got rock band Simple Plan to sing it! While the lyrics are simple, the simple approach may have actually made the track more memorable. The music and vocals also guarantee that “What’s New, Scooby Doo?” an absolute banger! There’s no mystery to solve here – the song is just “simply” great!

#4: “Ride on the Magic School Bus” “The Magic School Bus” (1994-97) & “The Magic School Bus Rides Again” (2017-20)

How is it that so many educational shows have intro songs that are bops? “Ride on the Magic School Bus” is the opening theme for both the original “The Magic School Bus,” and its Netflix revival. The lyrics, like the show, take you everywhere from inside the human body to outer space. Meanwhile, the music itself ranges from a jazzier version in the original to a more electronic sound in the reboot. Oh, and did we mention that the song is sung by the likes of Little Richard and Lin-Manuel Miranda? Hearing either one of their legendary voices on this school bus tune puts a smile on our faces every time.

#3: “I Wanna Be Famous!” “Total Drama” (2007-)

Also in:

The “Total Drama” series is hilarious because of all the animated reality show hijinks featured in each episode. All that comedy is accompanied by an intro song that slaps harder than a reality show diva! Thanks to the fast-paced guitar and drums, you will be headbanging along to the song in no time. Plus, the lyrics play into the millennial and gen Z zeitgeist by touching on a desire for fame. And it’s just incredibly catchy. We’re not going to judge you for shouting “na-na-na-na-na” at the top of your lungs…mostly because we’re doing it too. “I Wanna Be Famous!” is so much better than it has any right to be and we absolutely love that!

It’s downright criminal not to sing along with those lyrics, whether you’re listening to the revival or the original. The music that accompanies them is no slouch either! Both the brass melodies of the 20th century version and the snappier pace of the revival are incredible and they never fail to get the listener ready for adventure. “DuckTales” is like the gold in Scrooge McDuck’s vault. It feels like a bottomless well of riches that we never tire of diving into headfirst whenever we hear it!
