#10: There Are No Easter Eggs Here “Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas” (2004)

With Rockstar getting used to the idea that players are going to stray off the beaten path in order to find any secrets or Easter eggs that may be waiting to be discovered, they decided to be their sarcastic selves and throw a particularly ironic one in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas just to take the piss. The fact that this message on top of the Golden Gate Bridge says ‘there are no Easter eggs’ is ironic, and the humor behind it is just another reason to love Rockstar and the shenanigans they get up to in their games.
#9: Giant Easter Egg “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City” (2002)
Well, you wanted an Easter egg, and now you have it. This one was immensely hard to find, and required you to jump off of one building, and smash through a window into another. No, it isn’t animated that way, and you kind of just phase through it… but at least you’re through! What you’ll find is an empty room, save for a pedestal and a giant egg that says ‘Happy Easter.' The GTA series is full of killing, stealing and general mayhem, so this is a nice message to receive while we put our destruction on hold.

Shooting the moon has been a staple in a lot of the GTA games. With a sniper rifle equipped, shooting the moon changes its size. Shoot it a bunch of times, and it covers a significant portion of the sky until it goes back to normal. After seeing it massive, normal just doesn’t look right in comparison. While it’s only a cosmetic change and doesn’t affect gameplay, it’d be interesting if it changed the Earth’s tides too: an idea for the next game in the series.

Seeing the Samara-like ghost in the distance sends shivers down our spines. If we go to a certain cliffside near the El Gordo Lighthouse at eleven p.m., we’ll see the ghost of Jolene Cranley Evans, the murdered wife of politician Jock Cranley. The official story is that she fell, but an article and testimony, along with the fact that Jolene’s crying ghost is standing on the cliffside with blood stains that spell ‘Jock,' all point to murder. She’s only there until midnight, and she fades away the closer you get, so if you want to catch a glimpse of her, make sure you keep your distance and don’t waste any time getting there.
#6: Bigfoot vs. The Beast “Grand Theft Auto V” (2013)
Boy, Rockstar went all out with this one. To unlock this secret boss fight, players must have a 100% completed game save, and have collected all twenty-seven peyote plants and then the gold ones found during either a foggy or snowy weather, and that’s just scratching the surface of this intricate and lengthy secret. Once you complete all the requirements, you enter a hallucination where you become Bigfoot – and can engage in animalistic combat with the teen-wolf-esque Beast. If you emerge victorious, you can use the Beast in Director Mode.
#5: The Frozen Alien “Grand Theft Auto V” (2013)

The frozen alien is one of the most out there secrets Rockstar have put in their series. First found in the intro mission to GTA V, you have to veer off the track and hit the ice. There, you’ll find an alien life form, seemingly using his last bit of life to swim to the surface before being frozen underneath. While the alien was probably just thrown in there for laughs, that still hasn’t stopped gamers from trying to come up with theories about why it’s there, and the fact that UFOs pop up all over the map when you get 100% percent completion just adds to the mystery.
#4: Hotel Lights “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City” (2002)
Grand Theft Auto is always pushing the envelope of what it can show in games, and before the full frontal nudity found in the later GTA games, we had this particular building to hold us off. If players visit the hotel at eleven p.m., they’ll find the lights in the rooms arranged in a shape that resembles a penis. Yep, nothing’s too on-the-nose or crude for Rockstar. If you’re lucky, you’ll also get a chance to see the water fountain on the rooftop spraying upwards. Classy as always, guys.
#3: Apartment 3C “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City” (2002)
It’s not often you hear of cocaine deals in movies and video games in which both parties walk out unscathed. In Scarface, we have someone get dismembered by a chainsaw. In GTA Vice City, players can find an apartment that looks eerily similar to the one in which the chainsaw scene took place in the film. Not only that, head inside and you’ll find a chainsaw lying on the floor in the bathroom, with horrific blood splatters covering the walls and floors. Shared universe? Maybe? A cool Easter egg for all of the movie buffs playing the game? Definitely.
#2: Statue of Happiness “Grand Theft Auto IV” (2008)
Rockstar hides their secrets in every nook and cranny, and we’ve discovered by now that sometimes you have to literally walk through walls to find them. With the Statue of Liberty – ahem, Happiness – being such a well-known landmark, there had to have been something waiting there, and boy is there ever. After strategically landing on the platform that’ll take you inside, walk through a door - without opening it - to be in the center of the statue, where inside lies a giant chained beating heart.
#1: Thelma & Louise “Grand Theft Auto V” (2013)
Rockstar loves their movies, and have lovingly recreated film scenes more than once. One such instance is the ending of Thelma & Louise, where the two titular characters are surrounded by police, and drive off a cliff to their presumed deaths… only it isn’t presumed in GTA V. We see their car crash into a fiery inferno. Ouch. Players can also find a recreation of the desert shootout found in No Country for Old Men, and they can nab a hefty twenty-five thousand dollars while they’re at it, too.
