VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton WRITTEN BY: B Stevenson
Even if they don't win, these "RuPaul" contestants could have a career in commercials. For this list, we'll be looking at the most hilarious instances when queens had to tape faux advertisements or PSAs. Our countdown includes Detox in "Heroine," Symone in "Sweet Toof," Katya in "Krisis Kontrol," and more!

#10: Trinity K. Bonet in “Fix It Bitch” “Side Hustles”

Okay, Trinity’s teammates also deserve a shoutout for their parts in this team commercial. Yara Sofia, Pandora Boxx, and Ra’Jah O’Hara all made the commercial excellent in their own ways. However, there’s no question who the standout performer was. Trinity nailed the part of a drag queen desperately in need of a fixer’s services. To make matters even funnier, her character was consistently confused by the fixes, which always involved black tape. Whether her shoe was mummified in adhesive or her wig dubiously secured, Trinity’s comedy skills were obvious. Not surprisingly, her performance nabbed her the win this week.

#9: Detox in “Heroine” “Scent of a Drag Queen”

The voice is an instrument, and Detox was a maestro in her Season 5 perfume commercial. The premise was simple. Behind plumes of feathers, the queen stood alone with a satiny fabric as her backdrop. Listing adjectives in an alluring tone, she then dropped her voice to name her fragrance. The unexpected fake-out made Ru burst out laughing. Then, we got a second version of the joke. With members of the pit crew feeling up the contestant, the ad overall was perfectly seductive. This, of course, made the jarring vocal trick all the more funny. For us, the cherry on top came when Detox revealed where viewers could make their purchase.

#8: Team Monét X Change in “Madam Buttrface” “Tap That App”

In this Season 10 episode, the contestants were split up into teams to market dating apps. Aquaria, Asia O’Hara, Monét X Change, and Yuhua Hamasaki got “Madam Buttrface,” for bachelorettes who aren’t conventionally attractive. We knew Asia as a polished queen, but this concept allowed her to step out of her usual drag territory. With all kinds of makeup effects, she looked rough around the edges in the best way possible. Plus, her line delivery and acting were excellent. Aquaria also did well with a ridiculous Pinocchio-like nose. Yuhua wasn’t exactly stellar, but the commercial overall kept us laughing.

#7: Jackie Cox in “Jackie’s Magic Carpet Merkin” “Droop”

This queen can have a somewhat retro drag aesthetic. That made her choice of a genie character somewhat reminiscent of 1960s sitcoms pitch-perfect. She captured the chipper energy of classic infomercials, turning to the camera to repeat a cheesy catchphrase. The writing was strong, too, with excellent comedic timing and jokes that consistently landed. Not to mention the ridiculousness of the product itself. Although guest judge Chaka Khan didn’t realize what a merkin was, Jackie noted the accessory could also be used as false facial hair. With an unforgettable premise and theme, Jackie’s ad had a serious chance of winning her the challenge.

#6: Jinkx Monsoon in “Delusion” “Scent of a Drag Queen”

Top 10 Jinkx Monsoon Moments on RuPaul’s Drag Race

We know the Season 5 winner can deliver when it comes to comedy. Her fragrance commercial in that season demonstrated cleverness as well as her self-deprecating sense of humor. It opened on a saucy scene, with the queen waking up entangled with some handsome men. She reaches for a bottle of perfume to freshen up… and then wakes up covered in pretzels. The concept and narration are strong enough to carry the ad. However, the face Jinkx makes upon rousing makes the moment a home run. The sheer conviction with which she says the tagline doesn't hurt, either.

#5: Symone in “Sweet Toof” “Pop! Goes the Queens”

To be fair, Rosé’s commercial for her “RoseAid” soft drink was hilarious. It showed off a deadpan comedic sensibility and allowed the polished queen to poke fun at herself. But the episode’s winner managed to outshine her. There was just something about Symone’s ad that made it oh-so rewatchable. Intended for uptight consumers, the contestant’s teeth-rotting soda contained sugar… and that’s pretty much it. Her jokes weren’t overly complicated and often relied on the strength of her delivery. Thankfully, Symone has that in spades. The queen gets extra points for an ultra-memorable jingle.

#4: Heidi N Closet in “Heidi’s Hydrates” “Droop”

Season 12’s Miss Congeniality had an absolutely irresistible sense of humor. This was in full force during the “Droop” challenge, in which queens had to film infomercials for lifestyle products. Heidi may have cribbed Ru’s product idea from the Werk Room, but she made it her own. Whether explaining the lotion’s ingredients, uses, or side effects, the queen hit it out of the park. Although there were many hilarious moments packed into the infomercial, our favorite came at the end. A passing mention of a product risk turned out to be much more serious, and funny, than we’d expected.

#3: Katya in “Krisis Kontrol” “Drag Fish Tank”

Top 10 Katya Moments on RuPaul’s Drag Race

This beloved queen is about as zany as they come. It wasn’t surprising, then, that her product ad in “All Stars” Season 2 was strange in the best way possible. Marketed as a solution for crippling anxiety and existential pain, her new body spray is laced with a powerful tranquilizer. The clip boasted plenty of hilarious moments. Whether Katya was channeling the demonic voices in her head or lying catatonic on the Great Wall of China, her sense of humor was on full display. And that’s not even mentioning the totally unexplained raw chicken she passed off to the pit crew. Deservedly, this commercial landed Katya a spot in the week’s top two.

#2: Bob the Drag Queen & Derrick Barry’s Political Ads “Shady Politics”

This duo had the most prominent rivalry in “Drag Race” Season 8. However, they made a perfect pairing when it came time to create political attack ads. Their complementary clips were both absolutely hilarious. Bob’s commercial featured multiple laugh-worthy moments, including accusations about her opponent's family values…and diet. ‘However,’ the latter queen’s ad stood up as well. Derrick’s dead-serious repetition of the word “however” had us cracking up alone. She also her partner act out all kinds of ridiculous situations. Whether stealing from pedestrians or going to raunchy parties, Bob brought Derrick’s jokes to life. Suffice it to say, we’d vote for either of these candidates. And based on their nearly as stellar performances, we’d endorse Naomi Smalls and Kim Chi as VPs. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. Manila Luzon’s Patriotic PSA, “Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Style” Bedding the Statue of Liberty Was a One-of-a-Kind Idea Alyssa Edwards in “Drop Dead Gorgeous,” “Drag Fish Tank” This Dancing Queen’s Product Ad Was Hilariously High-Energy The Entire Cast in “Save a Queen,” “Save a Queen” Zingers Abounded in This Heartfelt Tribute to Down-on-Their-Luck “Drag Race” Alums Crystal Methyd in “The Magic Mullet,” “Droop” We Loved Seeing Crystal’s Product Development — That Is, Hammering Wigs on a Table Alexis Mateo’s Patriotic PSA, “Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Style” This Queen’s Winning Commercial Was Equal Parts Humorous & Sincere

#1: Alaska in “Alaska Thunderfun’s Fashion Tape” “Drag Fish Tank"

Also in:

Top 10 Alaska Moments on RuPaul’s Drag Race

Any Season 5 viewer will recall Alaska’s skill with a commercial challenge. Despite its short duration, the ad for her “Red for Filth” fragrance-slash-breath spray was packed with jokes. However, this queen managed to outdo herself in “All Stars” Season 2. Her advert for a drag-themed product began with an ultra-dramatic tone, which made her immediate reference to a derrière all the more ridiculous. Sporting a latex-and-peroxide look, Alaska marketed a plain yellow fashion tape that nonetheless came in three ‘distinct’ colors. Poking fun at the exclusivity of luxury products, this send-up was everything we look for in a “Drag Race” commercial.
