In season six, Ross and Monica get to be dancing party people for a pre-taped segment for "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve." In an effort to get on TV, the siblings decide to break out “the routine”, which they last performed in middle school. Needless to say, it isn’t good. There’s a popular expression that says we should “dance like nobody’s watching.” And that’s exactly what Ross and Monica do … even though everyone’s watching. Then again, that’s the point! Sometimes you just need to not care what people think and do what makes you happy!

What most people probably remember about this episode is Brad Pitt. Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were married at the time and having him guest star on the show as someone who hated Rachel since high school was very funny. However, the thing about this episode that restores our faith in humanity is the Joey vs The Turkey subplot. Joey promises Monica that, if she makes a turkey for thanksgiving, he’ll eat the entire thing. When he sees the huge bird, Joey has a moment of uncertainty about the daunting task in front of him. But over the course of the evening, he sticks to it, even when things get tough. And eventually he accomplishes his goal (with the help of Phoebe’s maternity pants).

In a world where it often feels like everyone is just out for themselves, we can always count on Phoebe Buffay to walk the path of caring and human decency. In the third episode of the series, a bank error leads to $500 being deposited into Phoebe’s account. Most of us would rush out to spend the money. But not Phoebe. To her, doing so would be like stealing, so she reports the mistake to the bank. While not everyone believes in karma, the idea that doing good brings good back to you is very much at play here. And Phoebe’s good deeds grow her $500 into $7,000! Which, in one final selfless act, she gives to Chandler for him to quit smoking.

#7: “The One with the Jellyfish”

What would you do for a friend? For some people, the biggest favor a friend could ask for is to help them move. But we think that comes in a distant second to urinating on them. Which is exactly what Chandler did to Monica in the season four premier when she got stung by a jellyfish (after Joey got stagefright). Now that’s a true friend right there! It makes carrying a dresser up a couple flights of stairs seem like a walk in the friendship park, doesn’t it? And when you help someone move at least you get free pizza.

#6: The One Where Chandler Takes a Bath”

Top 10 Times Chandler was a Savage on Friends

It often feels like people are so stuck in their views that they aren’t even willing to hear what the other side is saying - whether it’s someone arguing that Mummies and Zombies are the same, or the narrator in Green Eggs and Ham who insists that he doesn’t like the eponymous dish without even trying it. Then there’s Chandler Bing, who had his mind set that he hated baths. But every now and then people do listen to opposing views and open themselves up to trying something new. Which is what Chandler did when Monica drew him a bath. He agreed to try it and, spoiler alert, like the narrator at the end of Green Eggs and Ham, he loved it.

#5: “The One with the Lottery”

Yes, it’s sweet that, when the gang wins the lottery, the other five all agree to give their winnings to Phoebe. However, their winnings are 50 cents each and that’s not why this episode made our list. In season nine, Chandler quits his high-paying job - which he hated - and gets an unpaid internship at an ad agency. He was much older than the other interns and was starting over at the bottom. When the internship was over and he didn’t get any of the three assistant positions, he couldn’t BE more disappointed. But then he’s offered a paid position as a junior copywriter. It isn’t always easy to start over, but if you work hard, good things can happen.

#4: “The One with Chandler in a Box”

Top 10 Most Embarrassing Things That Happened to Chandler on Friends

In preceding episodes we watched real feelings develop between Chandler and Joey’s girlfriend Kathy - culminating in a kiss. That led to the situation that Chandler finds himself in this episode - namely being in a box. And this episode works on multiple faith-restoring levels. First off we have Chandler being in said box to show Joey how much his friendship means to him - putting that friendship ahead of his own feelings for Kathy. And second we have Joey letting Chandler out of the box to go after Kathy because he loves his friend. His anger over the “kiss” is secondary to Chandler’s happiness.

#3: “The One Where Monica Get a Roommate”

Top 10 Monica & Ross Sibling Moments on Friends

Opening up your home to a friend who needs a place to stay is a really nice thing to do. But even really good friends might hesitate to do so because of how much it could inconvenience them. However, in the pilot episode of Friends, when Rachel runs out on her wedding and needs a helping hand to start a new life, Monica is there for her - even though they haven’t seen each other in years ... and Monica wasn’t even invited to the wedding! Seems pretty unbelievable in a world where these days friendships can end if one person doesn’t like the other’s IG post fast enough.

#2: “The One with Phoebe’s Wedding”

Also in:

Top 10 Best Joey & Phoebe Moments on Friends

Phoebe’s wedding to Mike ends up being one of the most beautiful and romantic moments of the entire series. But it sure didn’t look like it was going to get there, as one thing after another went wrong leading up to the big moment. But the show is called “Friends” and this great episode from the show’s final season is another example of what having true friends who love you is all about. The way the gang comes together to give Phoebe her perfect ceremony will make you smile and probably tear up a little (happy tears of course). Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. “The One with Phoebe’s Uterus” Ross & Joey’s Friendship Is Stronger Than the Divide Between “White Coats” & “Blue Blazers” “The One with Ross’ Wedding” This Is When Chandler & Monica First Got Together “The One with the Proposal, Part 2” Forget Ross & Rachel; Monica & Chandler Are the Truest Love on the Show “The One with the Prom Video” The Nice Guy Can Get the Girl - Even if It Is Years Later “The One where Rachel Quits” We've All Thought About Quitting a Job to Follow Our Passion, But Rachel Actually Did It.

Top 10 Modern Episodes That Defined Television

Giving someone a place to stay is a nice thing to do, but giving someone else’s babies a place to grow for nine months is maybe the most selfless thing anyone can do. And in season four that’s what Phoebe does for her brother and his wife. It really is an amazing thing to do for another human being. And if seeing the pure joy from her brother and his wife when Phoebe announces that she’s pregnant doesn’t restore your faith in humanity, then seeing how happy their joy makes Phoebe definitely will.
